Tal software - Tal-J-8 - Jupiter 8 emulator V. 1.1.2 x64 Vst Vst3 aax screenshot
AudioZ Exclusive | x64 Vst Vst3 aax | 12.2 MB
The TAL-J-8 is a very accurate emulation of the popular 80’s hardware synthesiser and calibrated after our own Jupiter 8 device. All sounds are generated in realtime without the use of any samples with the same endless modulation possibilities like the hardware and useful additional features like the calibration section that can make the filter scream.

FEATURES

Authentic emulation of the 80's hardware synthesizer.
Use the calibration section for extreme resonance and filter overdrive.
VCO based UNISON with stereo spread option and a full stereo signal path.
MPE support.
More than 200 factory presets by solidtrax, emptyvessel and others.

Calibrated after our hardware device.

Requirements:
Windows: Windows 7 or higher (64 bit host)

Changelog:

Portamento fix.
SC dialog when changing presets fixed.

Serial included

what? no no no....sounds like a rushed opinion, typical. If there's the middle spot, Arturia has claimed it a long time ago. Not good, not bad, it's ok-ish.

Edit: I missed a setting while doing my comparison: the Arturia has a filter cutoff mod on by default while the Tal doesn't. When I fixed that the sound was almost identical. I still slightly prefer the Arturia because of the dispersion option which gives sounds that bit more of a mellow cake feel (for lack of a better description).

Almost identical you say? Let's render a few simple notes and compare the results. I have a midi file, who's in?

PT10, I'm sorry, you seem very confident, what's your expertise here? What would be a few pinpoints that made you reach this conclusion? I'm genuinely interested in anlog emu comparisons.

I can confirm downloading the demo from the site and registering with R2R UNO-LX key will positively activate the Jupiter 8(1.1.6) from DEMO into fully functioning.

The serial also works for mac! Download the installer from the manufacturer's website (it's not a limited demo) and then insert the serial in the appropriate window on the plug and everything will work perfectly!

I did a small test on the TAL vs Ronald Cloud, on some of the orignal factory presets availabe in both models.

My first impression was the Roland Cloud being way better.
Until I start to remove the effects and chorus from the Roland. (The TAL facotry lib is withpout effects/chorus, which is nice). And furthermore make sure the output level is as close as possible. That's very important, as just a tiny bit louder levels gives a better impression.

Now the TAL is closing in on the Roland. It's actually quite impressive and unexpected as I consider Roland Cloud to be among the very best synth-emulations out there.
But I still think Roland's got bit more weight to it. More of that unlinear error. The analog vibe, hard to describe. Just more 'interesting' in it's overall sound structure.
But don't get me wrong. The TAL is very very good. Very useful, with lovely analog color and vibe too. And with the use of the calibration knobs, you can alter the character quite a bit. Maybe the fact that variations in different hardware models used for modelling, also plays a role. You can hear there is a difference in envelope times, which suggests difference in models. I've noticed such things before.

Regarding the new Arturia. I believe it has gotten A LOT better than the old versioin, which was way below standard!
My feeling is the Arturia also is very good and probably on par with the TAL, but still not to the same depth and vibe of the Roland Cloud. But since Arturia has'nt included the original Factory Bank presets, it is difficult to make the above comparison.

Actually I often get the impression the Arturia's immersive use of signature presets, swallowed in effects and huge reverbs, does more bad than good to the overall impression, which is a shame. But that's another story, and maybe just me.

Cheers.
