This VST is underrated, and it is a beast. Wait until version 2 comes out with its hardware integration! Sorry Eric, I couldn't help myself.

For some reason when I install 1.9.8g on OSX then reopen ableton it's not updating to the latest version. The version inside of ableton still shows 1.9.8c and the version in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST shows 1.9.8f. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'd like to have 1.9.8g fully installed everywhere.

it seems like the .pkg file is corrupted we'd have to wait on a fix i suppose btw where did you get 1.9.8f?
  Member 26.08.2015 120

I'm pretty sure I got 1.9.8f from here. Why would Spectrasonics release a corrupted .pkg file? That's very strange. I wonder if anyone else is having similar issues after installing 1.9.8g? I wonder if these issues are happening on other people's systems as well?
(Or is there something glitchy going on only with my system?)

Edit: Just noticed others are having the same problem too

This package is making me a little uncomfortable. If I am not mistaken, the zip file has a strange name "Corona." This prompted me to check the installer script. It appears to be deleting files. They are the Quartz plugin. The script mentions "SpecInstallLoc." The problem for me is that I don't see the updater itself installing anything with Quartz in the name or installing in any area that appears to be a special location. The comment in the script doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Any ideas?

#!/bin/csh -f

# This script is executed by the OSX Installer app when it starts up.
# This script is intended to be used by the software updater (not by USB installer)

# Variables input to the preinstall script:
# $0 - Script path
# $1 - Package path
# $2 - Target location
# $3 - Target volume`

# BZ 3827: Disable this "SpecInstallLoc" instruction. This is not needed for sw
# updaters, and if we execute this line, it could interfere with DVD/USB
# installers that the user may be running simultaneously with the sw updater.
## echo "$1" > /tmp/SpecInstallLoc

rm -rf "/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/QuartzWrapper.dpm"
rm -rf "/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Quartz.aaxplugin"

Not sure. I wish I could be of more help. A couple things that seem strange to me is that the compressed file on zippyshare says "Corona", also this post here on audioz only says "RMX" in the title up top (instead of StylusRMX).

I haven't noticed anything weird happening with my operating system yet, no files mysteriously deleted yet.

I downloaded it from Spectrasonics, i only use Mac so i can't comment on windows version and i didn't actually check what version i was on before but when i use the 'get info' on the files themselves my vst is now 1.9.8.f while my component or au says 1.9.8.g, both the plugin and standalone GUI still say 1.9.8.c lol, i don't think anything's wrong or corrupt with the file, i think Spectrasonics have probably just messed up tbh

Moretishu,

That's exactly 100% specifically what's happening on my system also. With get info in finder my VST says 1.9.8f, my AU says 1.9.8g, but then when I open inside ableton it still says 1.9.8c.

This is very strange and I'm not sure how to fix it. If anyone knows of a solution, please let us know.

There is no reason for any of you to start some speculation about these files. These files are 100% clean. Downloaded from my Spectrasonics account. I invite any legit owner to compare the SHA of his with those from my release. instead of running your mouth, use your brain.

What is the major thing that this update is supposed to do? The ability to import REX files directly from the Stylus RMX standalone application. Try to do that. if it works , be happy and don't worry about what number shows up.

Also, it is called "Corona" to prevent bots searching files hosts from finding it. Speculating about the name of a .rar file is the most ridiculous thing I have read. I stand for the integrity of my releases. With that said, this is my last MAC release. You MAC users want to speculate and talk crap, enjoy it because this is your last chance. NO MAS.

maybe i should start apologizing first due to the fact i started with saying the .pkg is maybe corrupted. I tried to look for the feature to import files directly and ignoring the version number but it still wont work

NP bro. Can you try the following: uninstall the software DO NOT REMOVE SAGE and reinstalling the "update" you may need to reauthorize. I do remember the previous Windows version giving people a similar problem. This time is with mac. I wish I used it on mac to find out what the issue is. A legit owner already confirmed that there is a problem with it. Last resource will be to uninstall, remove all traces of old one and reinstall.

The Pirate, how your sign say: "The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem. "
Exactly, some users are so , nothing one can do.

Wait, have I got that the right way around. (Yep, it's still a bit early for brain teasers)

Dear Pirate,

I did not consider anything, I am just looking at the files. I did not assume that just because you posted this release that you altered the files in anyway and I was not trying to imply that. All I said about the file name, is that it was thought provoking enough to prompt me to look at the package (installer) script because that is the place where malicious code could be installed without knowledge of the user, and it would not be the first time it has happened here.

I am sorry I did not research that before I posted. If I had understood that you were responsible for everything including the file name, I would probably have checked with you first. I posted what I did in haste. I never intended to imply that you were doing things maliciously. So sorry if it appeared that way.

Lastly, thank you very much for the contribution, sorry if I've ticked you off enough to stop contributing to the mac users here.

I think there is a chance I've stumbled onto something. I checked out the 1.9.8f version of the updater. I note in there a similar script, which is by the way a preinstall script. This script however, is deleting the previous version of the software which makes sense. Version 1.9.8g updater for Mac is likely not deleting the proper software. It likely will however delete the Artificial Audio Quartz file that you may have previously installed.

So if it doesn't delete the previous files, the installer may have trouble overwriting the older files. This may explain why some users are having trouble with this update and specifically seeing and older version still installed.

None of this of course points to any fault with Pirate who has proven it. It is possible that Spectrasonics, when preparing the updater, did a search and replace on "StylusRMX" with "Quartz" not noticing they changed their preinstall script by accident. Quartz is a 2D Graphic library thingy for OSX, BTW.

So the fix is pretty simple for those of you having problems. Move (to be on the safe side) the following files from their installed location to a backup location and then run the installer:

/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/StylusRMXWrapper.dpm

/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/StylusRMX.aaxplugin

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/StylusRMX.component

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/StylusRMX.vst

Hopefully Pirate will forgive us seeing there was cause for concern, even though it was not Pirate's fault.

Don't worry about whatI said, bro. You clarified it had nothing to do with me and that is all that matters. Furthermore, you weven sent me a PM apologizing. I am glad you were able to find a fix. As I said earlier, when this type of problems occur with Spectrasonics the best thing to do is to delete the previous version. The beauty of Spectrasonics updates is that they do NOT need a previous version in order to work.
The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.

Working fine here, Windows 10, Ableton Live 10, Studio One 4.6.1. Importing REX through Standalone OK. VSTi still showing 1.9.8c, absolutely normal, since plugin has no changes. No problems to report.
Thanks for sharing, Pirate!

Hi.
Does anybody know if it's possible to use this software update without the most recent data update? As I don't have it.
Sorry to have to ask a second time!

1 - Anyone knows if there is expansions for Sylus RMX?

2 - if yes, would love some recommendations, i'm looking for organic kinda drums, specially shakers, percussions, tambourines.. etc.. (can be a Kontakt library too if it is the case). [the genre i'm aiming is the real prog. house vibe aka Lost & Found guys / Sudbeat or the Anjunadeep vibe]

that's it,
(special thanks for all the guys behind this release!)
