Stereo double compressor. On each channel: an optical compressor followed by a VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) compressor (Discrete). The first one controls the average signal level with the typical electro-luminescent panel musical behavior. The discrete one controls peaks, adding snap or full control.

Three optical models, based on measurements on several ELP (electroluminescent panels) and LDR (light dependent resistors) couples.

Three transformer models, from clean to quite dirty.

Mid/Side encoding and decoding matrix. Full control on stereo image with two sides processing Mid and Side components separately.

Great and versatile for mixing on all kinds of sources, extremely useful and effective for mastering.

SKnote's Disto is savagely useful, so I have to give this a run, despite all the negative press.
Honestly, I don't always expect "emulations" to live up to the hardware (though it's nice when they do.) If, at the end of the day, if they do a good job at accomplishing what I need done in a mix, they're in.
I'm not aiming this at everyone (or anyone in particular,) so don't jump at this, but I find too many people *want a certain plugin in their chain (Collector's Syndrome,) as opposed to going into a mix knowing what they want to *hear happen with the audio elements.
Just my two-cents...

I would say forget what it emulates (if you want that compressor, buy the hardware). I am merely commenting on what it is like as a plugin. It's ok. Has it's own character. I like what it does on female vocals. Has a bit of mid-range scoop on it so if I need 1.5k etc I add a bit post. I wouldn't use it for mastering, but that's just my opinion.
Do I use it as a go-to plugin? No, but it's handy for a particular job if I need it.
Would I buy it? No probably not.
Am I grateful for the chance to try it out for free? Yes.
