I've followed instructions and installed (OSX) standalone,au and vst but for some reason it doesn't show in license manager, Logic and the standalone crashes. Any help ?

Same problem in 10.13.6 High Sierra with Logic 10.4.1.

i went back to all the VR releases of Strobe2\BFD3\Geist2 and noone has said anything about it timebombing and I've had them installed for quite some time and no problems either. So regardless if it's cracked properly or not I'm having no issues with VR version and I surely would rather not use the plugins at all if I had to License Manage every single expansion. I almost think I might just delete this crap altogether. most likely a waste of space on my drives as it is and I don't use it much anyhow but I might check out Cypher some. Anyhow good luck to everyone and thanks Modulus for helping me understand the difference and maybe just maybe i will delete this turd :)

Works well here but it takes AGES to load the plugin here in FL12. Once you loaded one instance though, you can clone them and they load immediately. Closing FL or unloading the plugin however will result in the same load time which over one minute.

Is this version Ok ? I have installed VR release and there is bug - every time when you change sound preset then memory usage incrase for about 100-500 Mb. This is huge memory leak issue !!! Im on Win 8.1 Pro x64 and this is tested in Reaper DAW.

First and foremost TY! I have a Pentium 8 core (16 threads) 3ghz and on average in Live this uses 11-20 % processor when nothing is played! This was confirmed when I went on you tube and saw another dude floating a 22% many of presets seem to put my processor in at over 100% especially when UI is open ( they need to program in vulcan), when to UI is closed Its workable but cracks based on Preset. They either know their cracked or their UI is terribly inefficient. It sounds really good, dam good actually but the performance is similar to XILS4. Its probably time for me to get a new CPU but you would think a 8core (16 threads) 3ghz would easily do it. Perhaps there a way limit CPU usage outside of voices (I tried that) that I couldn't find.

Nothing wrong with your CPU (i guess) . I'm running an oldish 4 core at 3,4 and it draws 5% playing chords. It is probably checking something online, hence slow loading and high CPU. Just speculating.

Re-tested it works great, it just naturally CPU heavy. My web-browser was up before on one of those GLSL sandbox sites with multiple GPU examples running so I had CPU spikes and crackel(!) and GPU was being shared. Running it in Live by itself with no web-browser, it was stable hovering between 18-22 % with average patches. Thorn is still my go to for the moment but this sounds really smooth interesting. Hopefully they will work on lower CPU usage. or perhaps its time to upgrade, probably the latter :)

After setting permissions, running .app and locating the install script, the installer instantly completes without installing anything. No component, no standalone, no application support, nothing..

right click on the "install Cypher2 Mac" select show package contents. in the contents folder go to MacOS . double click the FXspansioninstallSystem. My Keygen isn't working right. I get the error 12 message.

Some Windows keygen just doesn't work right in Wine,
probably it's because of some required redist missing, not sure.
But it's not the case of this one, at least not in my case,
I can run it without any problem in Wrappe[k].

quote by relexted... running .app

That's the problem. It won't work, as FXp installer is not just shipped with messed permissions, which is a common problem on Mac with devs who still don't get what disk images are made for, but it's also buggy, and there's no fix for that, just workarounds.
Run it with terminal as I said before, that means double click exec file at:
*.app/Contents/MacOS/*execfile*

Wow what buggy shit. Wtf is wrong with this company? I think especially High Sierra is problematic due to a lot permission stuff, but just a guess. Dunno about Windows. But I finally managed to get it working as AU only with a lot of chmodding, codesigning and stuff I can't remember. If you never done any of this stuff before, forget about it. It is really not recommended procedure for the novice user. Standalone is not working anyway, and there's no VST for some weird reason. As the installer is corrupt too, files must be moved manually (by guess). All presets and stuff must be moved to a folder manually created as "Cypher2" in AppSupport/FXPansion. Afterwards remember to chmod this folder to full write permissions otherwise Lic files cant be written. AU must obviously go to components. Install Lic Manager from link supplied above and follow procedure in R2R dolder. Be prepared for a lot of buggling around. I won't guarantee anything. It's such a mess that they really deserve to have their stuff stolen imho. Good luck for the lucky one.

Everything works on 10.13 (and any other OSX version I guess),
including standalone and vst version, you just have to install it the right way.
It's not about permissions on High Sierra, unix permissions works
the very same way since the 1970's all the way up to latest OSX.
Also, codesigning is not needed at all in this case.
Not 100% sure, but maybe their plugs are not even codesigned,
unless they manually codesign the binaries post-build (likely).
This is due to how the anti-modification check is implemented,
they actually "patch" their own binary after it is compiled and linked.

Please follow my previous procedure to make this faulty installer work,
and you'll be ok. It's not hard at all, anybody who barely know how to use a Mac and who can read (rare combo, I reckon) will be able to unpack a folder to desktop, open up a Terminal window, paste a couple lines and hit enter.

The auth file was'nt generated until I gave full read/write permissions to the files in the appsupport folder. I tried that several times, even with restarting. But that was probably because I installed it manually, so the permissions was'nt set by the installer.

With all respect for your expertise. It's a fact that permission stuff is being handled more strictly by macOS in recent years. Don't give me that 1970 Unix reference, which I am full aware of. It's not what it is about.

I would'nt count on anybody who barely know how to use a mac, to do even the simplest copy/paste of terminal stuff. I also several times gave advice and pulled my hair over people not doing it properly. And you see that over and over again here on AZ.

Eh... I would'nt count on it.

Eheh yeah, indeed! That's why the rare combo part, I wasn't referring to you with that.
Sorry if it looked like, don't take it bad, it's quite clear
you know more than average users here.
What do you mean with "permissions handled more strictly"?
You mean SIP crap or? Just to know, as I'm quite new to 10.13 but I haven't found anything different -permission wise- from any other macOS system.
I said this is not the case, cause it really isn't, the problem
is their installer not working, and since it's the installer chmodding
all files to proper owner/permission upon install, if you install by hand you also have to chmod and chown almost each and every file.
quote by ixichayden the auth file was'nt generated

As said if you install it manually all permission are f****d up.

Anyway this is the imho only right way to install on Mac,
if you have any problems. You must follow these exact steps:
(don't mix up with other advices, it will only mess up)

0- Uninstall all files you have installed till now.

1- Install like I instruct here.

2- Install the FXPansion License Manager from separated R2R release.

3- Follow long and annoying install procedure from R2R.txt

NOTES:
Do NOT run installer normally double clicking *.app,
run it only by double clicking this file:
Install\ Cypher2\ Mac.app/Contents/MacOS/FXpansionInstallSystem
Use standalone for authorizing, if license manager don't recognize Cypher
in the list of products needing authorization, launch standalone Cypher,
and start licensing from there, it will open up Lic. manager and detect it now.

OK. I tried to follow your procedure once again. After removing the handinstalled version I did myself and extracting the folder to the desktop, I copy/pasted the chmod command. All working perfectly up till now.

And now I get confused. What do you exactly mean by running it from "the inner exec"? Does it mean clicking on the .fis file instead of the installer.app? I guess no, as after asking me to locate the installer.app it does the exact same thing: Complaining that it can't find the .fis file, and afterwards installs nothing.

So does it mean I have to go into the installer.app's package contents and double-click FXPansionInstallSystem. Is this what "that same file" means? I'm not gonna do this unless I'm very sure. It is not very clear from what you wrote, sorry. Maybe a clearer describtion; that we need to go into the package contents and click on that exact file - would make it more clear? If this is the right thing to do. You see, I am still confused about your description. Sorry for that. Please help. What is the inner exec?

EDIT: I could'nt (out of curiusity) help it, so I tried doubleclicking FXPansionInstallSystem file inside of the installer.app package. It just opens it up in TextEdit.

Thanks so much for your instructions @Modulus, i succesfully ran the installsystem.
But somehow the standalone cypher.app won't open. Any tips on that one? Can't get round to the point of authorizing. License manager is empty, not scanning cypher, nothing happens when i hit 'scan system' in offline mode.

I finally managed to get the installer to run by opening a terminal, typing open and dragging the FXPansionInstallSystem and hitting enter.
That seemed to do it. Cheers.

Yeah, double click exec file (or drag and drop in a terminal window and press enter, "open" command is implicit in this case).
Main exec is always the main file inside MacOS folder :)
I edited posts so that it's more clear.

Thank you for your help. Dbl-clicking did'nt work for me. Only Open worked. But thanks. All is good, and it's not slow at all.
