The new engine allows the importation of Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 3 vocals, though Vocaloid 2 vocals must have already been imported into Vocaloid 3 for this to work. The new engine includes other features, but not all of them are accessible by Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 3 vocals. One of the new features is a "Growl" feature which allows vocals built for Vocaloid 4 to take on a growl-like property in their singing results. Cross-synthesis was also added, allowing the user to switch between two of a character's vocals built for the same language smoothly using a time-varying parameter. This feature is accessible by Vocaloid 3 and Vocaloid 4 vocals, but not Vocaloid 2. Another feature included is Pitch Rendering, which all imported vocals can use. This displays the effective pitch curve on the user interface. Finally, real-time input has been included in this version and is another feature which all vocals can use. VSQX files made for Vocaloid 3 work in Vocaloid 4

Anybody else having problems installing? It doesn't show up in C:\Program Files (x86)\
I Disabeld Comodo firewall and tried as Admin. Also Win 8.1blocks it at first but I told it to install it anyway. No folder is created and it's not there.

did you tried to install it into non-system folder (other than programm files)?
i've test it with w8.1 and everything is ok, but i have Eset Smart Security.
and my UAC is disabled

I don't understand the fascination with this piece of junk. It is a nightmare to work with, and serves no purpose unless you want to maybe add the sound of a 12 yr. old girl to anime that looks like half dressed 12 yr. old girls. Far superior and easier to use software out there.

No disrespect but it's probably more accurate to say that you don't understand how to use this "piece of junk". It sounds like you've never even made it past the box-art; speech synthesisers don't look like anything, they may happen to have a cutesy avatar on the box but the idea is that you take the product out of the box before you use it. Have you been trying to stuff the jewel case directly into your DVD drive? That may be your problem - try opening it first. And the whole "12 year old Japanese girl" thing just smack of ignorance.

There are Japanese, Chinese, Korean, English, American, Spanish and Catalonian Vocaloids - male and female, old and young. The actual engine is one of the most advanced hybrid sample/synthesis speech engines in existence and incorporates some staggeringly powerful technology that has taken years to develop. Unfortunately, it also has a particularly onerous protection scheme that is constantly triggering and badly affects performance - even something as simple as dragging the transport bar results in a protection check.

Sorry for the rant, it's nothing personal, but comments like this are not only ill-informed but totally disrespectful to AlexVox, who has worked really hard to strip out the performance-killing copy protection and keep us up-to-date with engine updates and new Vocaloids. Either say thanks and move on or just move on - don't be disrespecting the hard work of AlexVox on the grounds that you incorrectly believe that Vocaloid is about "the sound of 12 yr. old girl... that looks like half dressed 12 yr. old girls". That doesn't even make any sense!

The one thing we can agree on is that the interface is crap - you can blame Yamaha for that. But the engine is second to none. So about this "far superior and easier to use software" you mentioned - please name it. Literally, name any speech synthesiser with the power and diversity of Vocaloid. Good luck.

Some libs voices are absolutely different from anime, and probably you are obsessed by 12 yr old girls half dressed for different reasons.
This sw is fine and useful for choruses and, if well effected and manipulated , for main lines in electronic music.
Anyway, time lost trying to convince somebody saying he doesn't understand: if you dont understand, and I can easily know why, please avoid comments offending other's works and opinions.

Brilliant, thanks very much for the up tlr125. And to AlexVox, ignore the stupid comments, your work is massively appreciated. You've put so much effort into Vocaloid FE over the last few years and actually made it a better product than the store-bought original. Huge thanks and respect for dedicating your time to keeping the FE project going and providing us with regular updates and new Vocaloids.
