Beyerdynamic Virtual Studio VST/AU x86 x64 WiN/MAC screenshot
Regware | WiN/MAC | VST x86 x64 | AU | 17 MB
The Beyerdynamic Virtual Studio VST/AU plug-in virtually simulates real speaker systems (such as stereo or 5.1) in various environments (recording studio, concert halls, etc.) on your headphones.

You know the feeling – you’re working on a new track or mix, making adjustments here and there, and the whole time you’re asking yourself:
- How will my track/mix sound in a different environment?
- How will my track/mix sound when it’s playing on stereo studio monitors?
- How will my track/mix sound in a large concert hall or big venue?

Rather than packing up your mix and taking it to all of these places – which would take a long time and would be pretty expensive – rely on the ultimate solution from beyerdynamic:
A VST and AU-based plug-in that can be used with standard music programs such as Magix Samplitude, Steinberg Cubase, Apple Logic etc.
The plug-in virtually simulates real speaker systems (such as stereo or 5.1) in various environments (recording studio, concert halls, etc.) on your headphones.

This lets you listen to audio tracks or signals on your headphones as if they were playing over the correspondent speaker system in whichever space you choose.

Anybody know how well (or not well) this works for headphone mixing? From what I understand, this seems to be more of a marketing tool for Beyerdynamic than a useful mixing tool. Still, the idea is intriguing for people like me (who mix in a concrete basement, and therefore require the extensive use of headphones). Thanks itence!

do you know toneboosters isone? same concept. you mix on headphones with the plugin on the master, when it sounds killer you remove the plugin and bang, your mix is huge sounding and balanced. i'll try this and report back.

Id love a shootout of this, Isone, and Redline Monitor. Thanks pro tools. I have used Monitor to a decent degree but am left unsatisfied with it. I haven't had any experience with Isone yet, but I have heard good things.

in isone i always choose the "nearfield setup" preset, usually sounds terrible first. it's because the whole mix is OFF. i mix until it sounds good, then i remove the plug and magic happens. i think most people dont understand how isone and all these similar plugs work. they think it works the opposite way: that the mix will sound good when you insert it on the master. nope.

ok i tested it. this is the opposite of isone, you can test it how your mix sounds on different things. stereo studio-car-5.1-venue. not bad at all.

dear friend, i downloaded it about 1-2 years ago from site (now it's discontinued) ... I liked Isone immediately but some months ago i noticed now it's in demo mode. How is this possible? i remeber it was free.... It could be because of .key files? ...i remember i found these .key files in the Isone folder, but never understand how to use it! ...Help me please, i need a working Isone... Thanx in adv :) and thanx for your trix, too!

Nice share. Thank you. I did not know that this even exists. Seems like the same thing as Focusrite VRM. Will give it a go.

From what I read some time ago this is often more described as an 'interesting reverb effect' than something to do 'headphone monitoring' on. But please test for yourself of course.

Redline monitor is very natural / uncolored in the way it only tries to do a bit of head crosstalk and that's it.
Toneboosters Isone is ruler in the way you can tweak it to hell and back, but if it's actually accurate, depends how you set it up . Since you can control the head crosstalk AND virtual room AND freq-curve separately it is a very powerful tool.... But somehow I don't use it anymore these days. I kinda just learned what my main mixing headphone is missing, and compensate for it in the end. What my headphone was missing I learned by comparing what I thought was good to a lot of other mixes and listening on other speakers.

Still, Isone (and this beyer tool) are another nice thing to doublecheck your mix or master on in the end. If it sounds too fucked up you might need to fix something in your mix :).

Awesome. This should go great with the new DT770s I just got. Speaking of... if anybody is in the market for some headphones, the Beyerdynamics are great. This is my second set, and the first ones lasted through six years of heavy use. They still work, but they don't sound quite as good as they used to, and that's probably just because of the physical wear on the inside of the cups and my poor soldering on the jack I replaced.

Entropy makes dust of us all in the end though, so I can't fault them for succumbing to the fundamental laws of the universe. They put up a valiant fight.

Update: I tried this, Isone, and Monitor back-to-back and have found that, for me, Isone is the best option. To my ears, Virtual Studio leaves something lacking. Isone has the best sound and the most versatile feature-set of the three that I tried.

You need Focusrite VRM or SPL Phonitor, everything else are just toys.

I mix a lot on surround so a lot of HTRF VSTs are out of the question. BeyerdynamicVS so far is one of the best at making front sounds sound front, and back sounds sound side (ie, creating an impression of depth).

I have a Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO, and I've tried this plugin and, honestly, it doesn't help to mix better, it does not simulate correctly the space. (Yes I use it as it should be, as a room simulator only on the monitoring output, not on the final mixdown.)

so it's basically a rough guide to other environments, don't mix with it but check mix and it may help you get a idea
Trouble for me with these things is if there not matched to the phones your using it's got no chance
I haven't downloaded but can you choose from different h/phone choices or is it even matched to a specific set of h/phones

i just came across this and you can check it out if your dependent on cans for your work

I am excited to see how this works. I have Beyer Dynamic Headphones and I am excited to see how things sound. I rely on mixing in my headphones as I am constantly on the move.
Thank you all releasers and to the user groups here at Audioz. I appreciate you.
