I thought R2R were finally releasing U-he SATIN? dunno
Looks like they have difficulties… no wonder: MR.Heckmann makes things more and more complicated using traps, RSA-similar encryptions and other tricks to fool crackers! headbang

Please ban this guy NewYorkSam.

This is a post about Spire, and you guys have nothing better to do then to throw other people into the discussion and offend them?

Both of you, pathetic little scumbags, get out of here please.

Woah what the hell is going on here? wow
Urs is no different than all the other developers that read Audioz all day every day. And a conversation like this is ONLY going to lead to problems so why bring it up on a Spire thread? Let's just all chill out.

Thank you, R2R and Stormy! :) This is supposed to be a good, usable version of Spire, finally. There will be more versions without a doubt, though! Good synth.

Partly true - partly wrong.
MR.Heckmann is different though because he's (over)reacting faster than others. As a 1 or 3 men business only he can do it that way. By any ways I don't want to offend developers 'cause without them, we wouldn't have their stuff here. People who are in rage with others may have repressed emotions. dunno

This and that Togu synth are getting an update like everyday. Solid products. I think the developers didnt get their shit together yet.

If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

Unfortunately I always have to take care of my CPU power, and some VSTs consume way too much of it dunno

So Spire is not my kind of VST. no

Yeah you're actually right. The more I read the guy on KVR the more I question whether I really want to support him. I think he makes some cool synths but I also think he's arrogant, smug and reminds me of the cat that got in the cream and can't stop licking itself. Just the fact that he's considering offering his technique for free so that he can essentially kill the warez scene is enough for me to never want to buy a synth from him. I think that warez have done a lot of good in this world and that can't be measured or even understood by many. Lest we forget advertisement, a balance in the abuse suffered by consumers for about a hundred years, demo versions, competitive pricing, legal alternatives, hope for those looking to put their pain to good use, etc. The music industry always touts all these lost sales yet figures show that even though there has been a significant drop in music piracy they're still losing tons of money. People don't NEED any one synth from any one company. Even if the warez scene dies tomorrow I will happily learn and produce on what I have now for the entirety of my life and there is always freeware for anything new and hardware is an option. Then I can always support companies that make great software at a decent price and don't include ridiculous protections or act like megalomaniacs. And more importantly I think people should be REAL careful about pushing people right now because most of humanity is already on the edge and it won't take more than the flapping of a butterfly's wings to bring it all crashing down. If the warez scene were somehow stopped tomorrow you'd have a lot of talented, intelligent and pissed off people with nothing but time on their hands. You know what they say about idle hands don't you?

I think MR.Heckmann aka u-he suffers of minor paranoia though, because a healthy minded developer wouldn't start to play games with really skilled Crackers! "They gonna get you anyway, MR.Heckmann!" headbang phones

Well there's enough arrogant assholes around, but Urs is surely not one of them.

There are people who don't give a shit about their customers like the Sylenth guy for example who refuses even to communicate with his paying customers, but there is no developer around more open to suggestions, more helpful concerning problems and more willing to incorporate suggestions into his actual and future products then Mr. Heckmann.

People who don't respect that are just like angry children who don't get their toys for free the day they are published.

So the "really skilled Crackers" should concentrate their effort on the really big arrogant companies with their customer harrasing dongle shit, like Steinberg, Propellerhead or reFx - oh wait, all those coding wiz kids, they are not capable of cracking those products, damn. tongue

You do realize that this guys intent is to end the warez scene right? Then he goes on and talks about how the respect from us isn't mutual towards him and goes on to paint the average pirate in the stereotypical context and even gives us a psychological evaluation. I don't think what I do is right, I never claimed that. I don't need justification that consumers have been wronged to justify my actions, that's just a bonus. If there is a day when this is more than a hobby and I see some money from it then I will be the first to shell out cash for all the plugs I've been using that I liked, I already try to support the devs as much as I can. The real problem is those rich douchebag producers with cracked copies of software, those fuckers really should be gassed. And have you read this KVR thread? I'm sure you have but let me remind you: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/printview.php?t=392570&start=120

I'd rather support Klanghelm, no protection and a cheap price. What is it 22 Euros or roughly 30 dollars for the latest? That's my next purchase. phones

My answer: He would like to make his own products un-crackable but as a small developer he can't put iLok2 or similar protections because he would rapidly loose many paying customers. So his only interventions are some tricky manipulations in the code to fool people, like his new "demo mode" message implemented/hidden in the code. It will be just a matter of time until it gets detected! wink

He's actually been bragging on that thread I posted that we can't even imagine what he has in store if they are able to break what he has now and that he's been contemplating offering his methods to other developers for free. If it was only his software that he was protecting I could understand that. He's also reverse engineering R2R's work so it's tough to say whether they will be able to break it. He mentioned he has routines which only kick in after a year or some long period and he's even thinking of making it less often to tighten the code even more. I don't know time will tell but we'd stand a better chance if there was an influx of new talent that could assist.

Well, you can only speak for yourself, and I of course can only speak of myself. Anything beside that is speculation. Anyway, I'm sure that a lot, maybe most, of the people who come here and say they would "buy soon/only want to try/evalute" blabla, are - blatant liars. I have no proof of that, they have no proof either. It's just my opinion. So we have to take their word, what I don't do. Simple as that. The Internet is the biggest playground for hypocrites, we all know that.

1300 people have used our stuff warezed in production. These timebombs - unlike ACE Day - don't trigger lightly. They trigger when people actually produce music and invest considerable time on their projects. These 1300 guys are power users. They are not those "wouldn't buy anyway" people.

By the way I cannot see much respect from lowlife scum like that "NewYorkSam" who have nothing better to do than insult others without real reason. Urs knows that some cracks work, others don't. And he's very relaxed about that. I respect his wish to end the warez scene, why wouldn't I? I'd do the same if I was a programmer living off my products. Until now I'm quite comfortable with U-he products, I haven't encountered time bombs yet. But who knows....

Being friendly has been a strategy that worked so far. This is however not backed up by the comments we see on some piracy sites. A few days ago I had to read "Now it's discounted to $000 - MR.Heckmann might boil as a chicken Egg now!!" - so I think respect is hardly mutual. Which might lead to a tad more aggressive behaviour on our side as well.

That's my observation too. Some people have just no respect or gratitude, they're just scum hiding behind their anonymity, offending others.

Well, matter of time or not, fact is that there are U-he cracks at this given point in time which do not work, so people have to buy his stuff. Latest example: ZebraHZ which went out of work first of October. R2R's latest for Ubik does not work either.

NOT very necessary……you can still use a previous version that does not contain the new traps! wink

For older releases of course, that's why I always keep them for safety. But I'm afraid that we won't see the actual and coming things (at least for PC), like ZebraHZ, Satin, Bazille, new Diva etc.

Anyway, all I wanted to point out was that their protection scheme seems to generate profit in a way, so Urs won't surely give up on building his traps. no

Cataly5t,
Just the fact that he's considering offering his technique for free so that he can essentially kill the warez scene...

If the wannabe-cracker-kids are not able to remove/crack the technique then the warez scene will die. But not because Urs is guilty, it's just because the modern kiddies are too stupid to solve things :)
