Sonalksis FreeG v3.0.2 x86/x64 (FREE) screenshot Sonalksis FreeG v3.0.2 x86/x64 | 2.04 MB

Overview:

The Sonalksis FreeG is everything you need in a master fader. A simple, but absolutely indispensable plug-in, the FreeG extends the functionality of a typical audio host by providing a large-format style fader, along with ultra accurate metering.

FreeG helps to maximise workflow with extended, customizable metering, and multiple control features and settings.

Features:

When working with digital audio, a lack of fine metering and extended signal flow control in the host is a common issue. FreeG helps to improve workflow in the host by providing these features in the insert chain. By delivering enhanced control of amplitude, phase and pan (stereo version) in the insert chain as well as fine metering, with user configurable industry standard ballistic options, the freeG is the perfect master control.

Specifications:

•Long-throw fader
•Ultra accurate metering
•Multiple metering ballistic types
•Peak and RMS readouts
•Pre/Post metering options
•Selectable Pan-Law
•'Fine' mode for sensitive calibration of the master fader
•Mono-compatible for use in tracking situations

System Requirements

•Windows XP
•Windows Vista
•Windows 7

Thank you Cool Beanz This can be very useful for some musician that use DAW with awful mix table, including short not precise faders...
I wont say name, as don't want to begin another sterile DAW war.

There is a huge thread on Gearslutz about mixing ITB with this plugin on every track.

Oh great, Another shit plugin manager needed to run a free plugin. I;m sick of all this shit, clogging up my computer, each fucker thinks there system is wonderfull and before you know it, theres several of these competing systems all queueing up to fuck my computer.

I'm just grateful that i use reaper now, some great plugins provided and a builtin scripting system that uses python and is open for anyone to write nice stuff with.

willum,
What plugin manager? You just put the DLL in your VST folder and it works. It's not a "free" FXpansion plugin that I don't use because it's a torture to make them work and they install a manager shit and you have to authorise it on their website... >:(

If there's a person who hates "plugin managers", unnecessary stuff, dongles and whatnot most of developers force upon users, that's me. :) If I could make "plugin rules" they would be...

1) Install the DLL in the VST folder

2) Give user an option to install everything else wherever he/she wants it to be. [like sample banks, presets, manuals, data in general].

So many companies fail on both of these rules. Usually the bigger the company the shittier the installation. But there are also some "3rd party" degenerates who follow the Microsoft church religiously and don't care about the users' choice, too. Their installations install all kinds of shit in places where they think it's the best without even asking you. And the worst thing is you can't change the path of the files later on, even if you edit the registry. Stupid, narcissist arseholes.

This one is really great and usable. However, I could argue that you get even more functionality and even stability from Sleepy-Time plugins for this. I love them and lately use them instead. I've had a few crashes while using a dozen of FreeGs in a project. Not with Sleepy-Time plugins, though. I highly recommend those instead.

What plugin manager?

I think he was referring to the plugin manager Sonalksis now use on their website.
(which you need to install in order to be able to download this plugin)

Olymoon,
You're welcome, Oly! :) Yeah, they sound nice, they're free, and they look great, too! Not to mention that the size of his DLLs is rather small for such plugins, so they don't use so much memory... he's a great developer and we can expect some more great work from Sleepy-Time in the future. :)

Oh, btw I had some weird crashes with FreeG 3.0.0 so I reverted to v2 of it. I will give this one a try, though. They probably resolved the crashes. ;)
