Also... (as per R2R quoted text) - Regular (non-Slate) version works with legit Pro Tools, whereas AAX from this setup only works in 'medicated' Pro Tools

Big difference for shure is that the TH-U Premium contains 89 amps and 50 cabs, while th Slate Edt. has only 39 of each of them. I didn't check if Slate has some different amp/cab models or features anyway, but I don't think so. Maybe someone knows.
As mentioned, you can install both of them in parallel and check them out side by side. You easily can open both instances in your DAW because CPU usage is super low.

Not true. This Slate version contains 117 amplifier models (including Rig Loader) and 77 speaker models.

The previous Slate version had the same number of amplifiers as the previous Premium version.


It does not contain extra RIG libraries, but it can be added.

Can I simply install thiis Slate Edition (R2R) over the premium Version (V.R) ?
Or do I have to uninstall the premium version (of V.R) ?
Does anyone know ?

You could be lucky, but personally, I wouldn't take any chances given how much the patching methods can vary from team to team. In this instance I would do a fresh install after using a 3rd-party uninstaller.

The thing to note is that the Slate Edition will not install over the premium version but will install alongside the V.R. edition so you end up with two separate versions.

There would be soooooo much repetition in doing this, not to mention wasted storage space. Someone might think of an obscure reason as to why they want or 'need' both near-identical products, but most people would probably choose & settle for the one that closest matched their requirements.

Actually Thu Premium has far more gear than the Slate edition.
However, the Slate stuff is missing.

TH-U Premium is significantly larger than the slate ed. with about as much more stuff included with it. I don't believe there is really anything different included with slate that isn't in Premium so Premium makes much more sense to grab. TH-U (P) is about the best I have come across for these types of tools.

So this version contains all the unlocked rigs, amps and FX. Also the full Liquid IR's and cabs can be downloaded and added. I was also able to copy the Presets.db file from the Premium version to the Slate folder so this now has everything available for TH-u with nothing left to unlock!
