Linn Drum are essentially a sample based drum machine from 1982 1985: Samples - 35kHz: kick, snare, rimshot, hihat, 3 toms, crash, ride, cabasa, tambourine, high and low congas, cowbell, claps.

I bought FL Studio back in 2007.

The one thing that still makes FL a great DAW choice is the free lifetime updates vs something like Abletons business model in which every major version update you have to pay an upgrade fee.

who cares if you pay an upgrade fee ? We have R2R to update for free

If you bought Ableton 11, wasn’t the Ableton 12 upgrade free?

It's a sample based drum machine

Wow, I'm gonna say, this sounds like big BS, maybe the worst VST from GForce... Presets are unbalanced, sound is awful, presets are not ready4use right away, rather it gives me sense like you should tweak it, a lot.
So far for Linn drum VPROM is the best thing I have tried regarding sound and flexibility. This thing looks so confusing, and here I am addressing my views on this synth. Anyways, as always, thanks TEAM R2R for bringing this and maybe people can test and decide if this is worth buying... As for me totally waste of investment.

This was what I was looking for.. really, VPROM is pretty difficult to beat (pun unintended?), and I'm not sure you need to.

Hard agree. VPROM really emulates everything there is about the LM-1, down to the filters and D/A. Can't find any information if these are just recordings of the LinnDrum or if it's reading direct binary files like VPROM does. The other plus that VPROM does is it actually reads the binary files of not only Linn EPROMS, but of other drum machines of the time. You can really then use it like a sampler if you make your own EPROMs breaking the bounds of it just being a drum machine.

I haven't tried this yet but as a Vprom owner I don't see the need. The DMX vst was restrictive (no custom bins) and I can load DMX bins into Vprom anyway. Plus create my own. I recently got Simmons vst from Alyjames which also loads bins (though not as many) and that thing is great. Interested to hear genuine views on this plug before checking out. Is there anything it does that Vprom does not?

The built-in EQ, compressor, filter, delay and reverb, plus the extensive MIDI CC support. I actually like the interface quite a lot for having only spent 10 minutes with it so far. It's not the purist approach that VPROM takes, but I don't think it sounds bad at all. I'm probably the only one here who actually has owned the original hardware since 1984, so I'm happy to see GForce showing some love for the Linn.

WOW! You have a actual LinnDrum LM-1 for real?

I do indeed, although it hasn't been powered on in many years.

NICE!! But why mess with the VST's when you have the REAL thing? I realize the VST's are physically much easier to work with but still...

All of my vintage gear (the LM-1, DX-7, D-50, E-mu, Akai and Roland modules, etc.) has been relegated to storage. No MIDI cables exist in my setup any longer. I fought it for a long time, but everything is so much simpler now. That gear takes up space, generates heat, has noise floor/grounding issues, needs to be maintained, and won't last forever. That's why none of it has been plugged in for at least a decade. I really intend to sell it, but I want to make sure it's all in perfect order first, and I just haven't got the time to mess with it.

Meh, I'm not gonna complain... I wish GForce has included patterns (not midi external to be dragged) on the device, but whatever... and we can split hairs all day about this.. but GForce is one of the finest out there... and I'm sure this is just little product in their line while they are working on something like their CS80 or Xpander or something....

I haven't tried it yet, so I can't stick up for it, or bash it... but going on their history... and I've had and used a real LM-1 and LinnDrum (perfered the first)... so I will see later I guess.
..grateful for HCiSO, HEXWARS, R2R, GUISEPPE , CASHMERE & ALL teams, AZ crew past and present, and friends I have met here . RIP and LOVE to Olymoon and his family. 8647.

There is a "MIDI Pack" that apparently is not included with the downloadable trial version on the gforce site. The MIDI wasn't included in this one either I take it? Is there a separate R2R release for the MIDI Pack perhaps?

Some opinions.
- No bloatware needed. If I want to process the sounds, I would do it with my fav plugins.
- They should have done it with no presets, RAW sounds like the real thing.
- They should have done LM1 and LM2 machines separately.

The plugin is apreciated. However I feel it like a forced release. It needs a update and improvements for sure.

Vprom may sound better, but it isn't updated since 2018... and you can't download a trial version, you have to buy to get a download link (this reduces the chance of getting an updated crack).

There are many sound sets that can be acquired for VPROM. The original Linn LM-1/LM-2 hasn't been updated (or built) in 25+ years, but that doesn't make it any less viable these days. I would guess there is very little difference between VPROM 2.03 and 2.04 and it appears that 3.0 is lurking around the corner. For making the kinds of sounds you where you would employ a LinnDrum the VPROM is still the choice for the most authentic recreation. I haven't had hands on the hardware LM Drum yet so cannot speak to its performance over VPROM.
