Note input
Octave transposing instruments. A new option When inputting written pitches onto
octave transposing instruments has been added to the MIDI Input page of Library
? Note Input Options. This allows you to determine whether the octave
transposition of the instrument should be considered when inputting via your MIDI
keyboard when Write ? Input Pitch is set to Written Pitch (the octave transposition
is always applied when set to Sounding Pitch).
Chromatic mouse input. When moving the mouse over the staff, the shadow note shows
diatonic or unmodified pitches by default. You can now hold Shift to see all
chromatic pitches as you move over the staff and click to input that pitch.
Print mode
Page ranges. It is now possible to specify an open-ended page range, e.g. 3-, which will
print from the specified page to the end of the layout.
Project templates
French horn vs. horn. Dorico’s default project templates now use instruments labeled
simply as Horn, rather than French horn.
Tuplets
Default popover text. When the caret is visible and there is no selection, when you hit ; to
open the tuplets popover, the popover is now pre-populated with 3, so if you want to
create a simple triplet with the currently-selected note value, you can simply hit
Return, saving a key press.

Issues resolved
Beaming
When the Beams starting or ending with rests option on the Beams page of Engraving
Options is set to Force horizontal, Dorico no longer incorrectly positions the beam for a
beamed group containing (but not starting or ending with) a rest where the stem direction of
the first note has been forced.
Chord symbols Under some circumstances, deleting a chord symbol override in the chord symbol appearance
editor could lead to a crash; this has now been fixed.
Chord symbols
Under some circumstances, Dorico could crash when using Select More in a flow with a
mixture of shown and hidden chord symbols; this has now been fixed.
Chord symbols Under rare circumstances, Dorico could crash when double-clicking a chord symbol to edit it;
this has now been fixed.
Chord symbols Edits to the appearance of modal chord symbols are now correctly applied.
Chord symbols The left-, center- and right-alignment of chord symbols that additionally show chord
diagrams has been improved.
Condensing A couple more situations in which undoing an edit to the position of a player label would have
no immediate visible result have been resolved.
Divisi Under some circumstances, edits in a system prior to a divisi change could cause the divisi
change label to move away from the staff unexpectedly; this has now been fixed.
Divisi Under some circumstances, Dorico could show superfluous clef changes where divisi staves
return to unison; this has now been fixed.
Dynamics Under some circumstances, dynamics centered between grand staves could move vertically
unexpectedly when editing music in an earlier bar coinciding with an earlier gradual dynamic
in the same group; this has now been fixed.
Dynamics
When entering e.g. f (sempre) into the Shift+D popover, the closing parenthesis is no longer
incorrectly trimmed from the resulting text suffix.
Jump bar If you define multiple jump bar aliases that share a common prefix, they would not all have
worked reliably; this has now been fixed.
Lyrics Lyrics are no longer incorrectly deleted if you select both the word and hyphen or extender
line in Engrave mode before using Reset Appearance.
MIDI import When dragging and dropping MIDI data into an existing project, Dorico can now correctly map
incoming data into user-created percussion kits.
MIDI import When importing a MIDI file into a new project, user default project options are now applied
correctly as expected.
Music fonts Dorico now ensures that third-party music fonts (e.g. Finale Maestro, Finale Jazz, etc.) are
installed as expected when Cubase 14 is also installed on the system.
Music fonts Dorico no longer incorrectly applies the SMuFL metadata for the current music font when
importing a MusicXML or MIDI file into an existing project.
MusicXML export Hidden tempo items are no longer included in MusicXML export.
MusicXML export Special barlines no longer result in superfluous time signatures being included in exported
MusicXML files.
MusicXML export Ties for multiple notes in the same chord are once again exported correctly.
MusicXML import Tuplets with mixed note values in MusicXML files exported from Finale are now imported
correctly.
MusicXML import Rehearsal marks in MusicXML files are now discarded if parsing their text results in a clearly
erroneous index.
MusicXML import Dorico now better handles MusicXML files where system and frame breaks are defined at
inconsistent positions in different parts.

Noteheads Note name noteheads with an overridden color now print and export to graphics correctly.
Note input Copying and pasting runs of grace notes with playing techniques on one or more of the grace
notes now works reliably.
Note input Dorico could crash if it was still receiving MIDI data when shutting down; this has now been
fixed.
Note input The performance of note input in flows where players hold many instruments and several of
those instruments are visible at once (e.g. for percussionists) has been improved.

When Play shadow note pitch is activated on the Note Input and Editing page of
Preferences, the auditioned pitch now correctly considers the prevailing key signature and
instrument transposition.
Note spacing Music for percussion kits hidden via manual staff visibility changes is no longer incorrectly
considered for note spacing.
Percussion legends Changes to the global staff size via a system or frame break, or by setting a custom staff size
for the player, now immediately update the size of percussion legends
Playback The performance of preparing for playback in projects using expression maps with many add-
on switches has been restored.
Play mode Under rare circumstances, it was possible to create a note with a pitch beyond the range of
MIDI notes, which could cause a crash in the piano roll editor; this has now been fixed.
Play mode Enabling or disabling independent voice routing in Play mode no longer causes an additional
track for those instruments to unexpectedly appear in the track overview.
Project files Dorico no longer attempts to save the project as the app is backgrounded; instead, it saves only
once it has gone into the background. We hope this addresses the sporadic reports of project
file corruption experienced by some users (Dorico for iPad only).
Project files Under some circumstances, a project last saved in an earlier version could be marked dirty
upon opening unexpectedly; this has now been fixed.
Project files The saved view offset is now restored correctly when opening an existing project, so the view
is restored at the place you were last working (Windows only).
Time signatures Projects created in Dorico 5.1.50 and later would often end up with time signatures with
overridden beat and rest groupings, resulting in changes made in Notation Options having no
effect on those passages of music; this has now been fixed.
Time signatures Barlines and bar number changes are now once again correctly maintained when rebarring
music.
Tuplets Tuplets that end with rests could end up with unexpected beam groupings; this has now been
fixed.
User interface
The Custom Zoom dialog now works correctly (Dorico for iPad only)
