Waow. The first DAW I started on when I started working in a professional studio 25 years ago. Cant believe I'm seeing this here. Nostalgy ! I didnt even know it still existed. Less it was available for Windows now.
Thanks R2R for the memory !!

No surprise, new versions of the DP appear here with fair regularity.

I honestly never noticed it until today.

It just remember me working with a Motu and DP. Looking back and what we have now in terms of AD/DA, it just put in perspective how much the technology have stagnated ever since,

That's one of the project we recorded in that studio with that DAW and a Motu :

I remember Lynda as the most humble and sweet person i've ever met in the popular music industry even though she was the most talented. She was always so natural and authentic. She transpired peace and calm, I also remember her Artistic director being somewhat rude.

Beautiful memories.

Since the switch to Windows was far too late they have never recovered from their high days, by that time a dozen Daw's were already cemented on Windows including Mixers and Interfaces. I don't know how long Motu has but surely they can not continue unless they are bought out just like Cakewalk was an end to a great era.

I don't know what the hell the people at Motu were thinking when Apple bought Emagic ( Logic) to get the massive Windows users to switch to the Mac's and Motu just stood there like a deer in headlights.

I think Motu completely lost the boat on this decision and years later they have never recovered from their hey days. The worst part is they switched at a very bad time when a dozen Daw's were already cemented on Windows including Protools, Reaper, Cubase, Nuendo, Wavelab, Pyromix, Sonar, Seqouia, Samplitude, Studio One, Ableton, Fruity Loops which had been on Windows for many years.

I used to use Logic on Windows ( still have an old copy laying around) was the second I used after Cool Edit Pro ( ancient by now).

Note that DP is still available and developed for the last versions of macOS, including 15 Sequoia, as always.

I can't remember a single period of time where it has not been available on macOS.

Personally, I do appreciate the last developments, because now the look and feel, and the workflow feels IMHO very close to Studio one, with some special functions that seems exclusive to DP.

Of course I can be wrong, but it's what I feel looking at the interface : everything seems fluid and easy (like S1 was). The only problem is that I'm so used to Cubendo now (and I'm old...) that it seems difficult to adopt this DAW (DP) for 100% of my audio work.

But 50 % seems attainable, easily.
I'm alive!!! :D Isn't it astounding??? ;)

You are absolutely right! Motu blundered it because it was released very late for win!
The other problem with dp is that atom buggy and unstable! This is the umpteen version that has been patched and patched, and it's still only acceptable, but not good!
This daw is very knowledgeable, but in vain because he is among the last...

Absolutely agree, not stable, buggy and slow performances. Compared to anything it hog resources pretty soon, windows version ha x10 bugs of the MacOS version.

I began wth AudioDesk, also by MOTU. DP & AudioDesk were great DAWs at that time, I still miss the way to take snapshots on Faders and the posiblities to save a lot of mixes of the same song or open it with other song...Great features that I'm not sure still available...
Those were great days my friend!
