MIDI Editing Improvements

I successfully cracked 12.1 with 12.0.10 keygen from R2R.
R2R said the keygen works in future updates. but since r2r uploaded 12.1, would it be better for me to download it again?
I was wondering if the previous keygen had the time bomb in 12.1 or if you've posted the latest version for people who haven't received Ableton 12 yet.
My English might be a mess. Please understand.

I'm on the same recipe as far as i can tell I think it's a case of if it's not broken why fix it. its Just a update with same kg unless someone on these boards knows something

Maybe if the keygen is the same, it's for the new Ableton downloaders. It's uncomfortable to download 12.0.10 and auto update after crack.

This is a R2R Team release, while you refer to the Audiowarez team release, different teams. Many has reported several issues about cracking the Audiowarez release, which, like you've done, has been solved using that 12.0.10 R2R's kg. If your current installation works fine, you're done.

In this case, & knowin' that R2R is usually very accurate, I guess that we'll read more satisfaction than complains about the activation process.

Why R2R releases are (usually) not the very first ones?, because The Witches waits 'till the official releases come out after the original developers (of Ableton, in this case) finishes the debugging research & processes for a more functional product, as every serious engineers teams does. But also R2R severely inspects the software in search for leftover bugs & other possible errors, many of R2R releases works even better than the original ones.

As Hugo Vinagre says u've gotta block Ableton to call home, through firewall, through the hosts file, or both ways.

I've personally seen Ableton calling to these URLs;

As an humble advice, you should not block digicert.com : many apps and sites use this company as a trusty certificate provider, it is absolutely not related with Live's protection !

"authorize.me" doesn't exist anymore.

https://www.useplus.com/ have also nothing directly related to Live's protection, just unblock this site in your host and read their presentation, you will understand.

In your list, the only really useful entries are :

0.0.0.0 api.crate.ableton.com
0.0.0.0 services.ableton.com
0.0.0.0 tech.ableton.com

...and that's all, it's useless to add "www" when the entire domain (without "www") is blocked.

As a general advice, it's preferable to verify the sites' purpose before blocking blindly in the hosts file.

Well, in my case, only if I block Digicert, Helix Native v3.71 doesn't call home & the soft remains activated. Didn't try renaming the correspondant webconnectors.

& there were cases (in my recent experience) in which the blockades didn't happened without the www prefix, not a blindy thing, pal.

Edit; useplus redirects to their go.ashx sub site, perhaps have you blocked it? My decission about to block vectorial, pixel & fonts copyright owners resides in strange circumstances about some activations, but surely I could be strongly wrong.

Edit 2; digicert is written inside Ableton's files, why?, also authorize.me, but u're right, the site is for sale now.

those arent any problems, Ableton doesnt punish you in anyway - i wouldnt block them.

but you can turn cloud, update off and you can hide any Packs showing up in the browser, this will also deactivate the server requests.

I confirm that "www" matters and should be added.

I tried without it, some sites were still opening - but as soon as I tried adding - it was blocked! Thanks.

rename all the webconnector files and folders on your system, which belong to Ableton.

On PC it looks like this depending on where u have installed Ableton Live.

Probably a dumb question but can't you just turn off "auto check for updates"? That's worked for me for several years now.

Obviously, I do it, always, but the program does not strictly obey that.. As the mates stated above there are other ways to stay "out of problems", or actually there're no potential "problems" at all without blocking anything, which isn't part of my experience, perhaps 'cause I'm a little bit moron

Could you tell how get it to work? I had the 12.0 official r2r release. and let it auto update until 12.1. but the keygen dont work with 12.1 ?

I just installed 12.0.. R2R and no block in firewall or host file. It has update 2 or 3 times before version 12.1 with no problems. And it did also update to 12.1 without any problems.

Thanks! Since it worked for you I just did the same. Turned on auto update and let it fly. It did a few 12.0 updates then 12.1 and 12.1.1. Scanning the first time took a while but now is instant. Everything seems to be working. Much easier than downloading again and reinstalling.

no time bomb and no home calling. Live has several ways to get Packs, connect to cloud and ofc you can authorize it with the app.
Then you can also update the app with the the app itself - i have this always turned on, bcs with R2Rs method you can seem to get it working always.

and you can always go back to the version, which work, if it would stop working.

R2R method is still the most simply and reliable.

As for calling Ableton home, the lock is not necessary. I have updated it within the Ableton options menu without any problem, I have the cloud connected and it has not deauthorized me.

It's because R2R didn't compress the installer.
If you compress it with 7zip, it becomes even smaller than the Audiowarez release (zip compressed).
In my case it's 2,2GB after recompressing with 7z.

From the sample content, etc., AudioWarez & R2R are the same.

has anyone who installed 12.1.0 had any issues, i installed it and the plugin scanner crashes and it would not open a live set.

I keep ableton from updating itself by replacing the following files:

InstallHelper.exe
\Ableton\Live 12 Suite\Program

Ableton Swapper.exe
Ableton Web Connector.exe
\Ableton\Live 12 Suite\Resources\Extensions\WebConnector

with dummy executables that do noting. Works since Ableton 10.x like a charm. You could also try deleting them.

Another way is to patch Ableton Live 12 Suite.exe so it can't call respective wininet calls.

You could use winrar to create an sfx archive (self extracting) from a txt file.
In the sfx options select the tab "Modes" and check "unpack to temporary folder" and "Hide all". In the "Update" tab, select "skip existing files".

Thats it. Now you have a dummy executable which you can use to replace the updater executables. Everytime Ableton calls its updater then, that txt file gets extracted without showing any window instead of downloading an update.

Using Inno Setup you could also create an installer, that runs and aborts its process immediately after and then there are tools to compile batch scripts into executables. You could write just
@echo off
exit
to that script so it basically does nothing and then convert it into an exe.
