This is a normal size for a Sequoia patch (update only). As the version number increases, the patches become slightly larger. (The last patch for version 16 is 172 MB.)

Sequoia 17.1.2 Build 24220 (09/20/2024) - New features and changes in detail:

You can no longer simply update yourself, as was possible with version 15, because the EXE file has to be modified after each update.

even with 15, it was only possible up to a point.

quote by Nanookeven with 15, it was only possible up to a point.

Not true.
15 could always be updated until the last released patch.
Same R2R Protein files since first version.
No need for updated exe file.
In theory, theory and practice are the same.
In practice, they're not.

Presumably he is referring to Sequoia's ability to perform an online update. At some point, this was no longer possible. But updating with official patches from the MAGIX website was still possible.
If the witches release all future updates as quickly as this one, I won't miss the option to update Sequoia myself.

Hello. Does anyone know how to use the Magic extras by R2R?

GOOD question

just put them in the Program Files/Sequoia 17 folder, or don't ... they're beta testing features and your mileage may vary.

Most functions are related to surround and 3D audio. Atmos, MPEG-H, ADM, etc. If you don't need this, you can save yourself the trouble of copying the files into the program directory. (Especially since Dolby Atmos and the associated ADM export do not work for me. The ADM import does not work either. MPEG-H, however, works. But the "new" surround panner is a joke. )

Much appreciate these Sequoia/Samplitude releases.
but one thing I noticed is how much Magix still living in the 1990's. I've used both and nothing to say about how great these are because they had features back then that many DAWs didn't have at all. But lord, the old'ish GUI, things just looks way way too complex still today, 2000 menus & under menus.

I mean , they need to find someone who's very good at UI designt o unclutter the shit out of these two bad ass DAW, make them feel accessible while maintaining the more Pro features accessible in a more pleasant way etc.. etc..

ProTools and many other had to learn the hard way seeing other DAW manufacturer making things easy but keeping the complex stuff underneath and so forth

Magix has always had a superior potential but they;ll continue to stay as a Niche product with Samplitude & Sequoia at this rythm. Even if they have converted Samplitude into a more streamline smaller DAW in their site.

How dare you blaspheme! MAGIX has made extensive changes to the GUI in version 17:
Many improvements and improved GUI design (...)

Ain;t blaspheming man. But seriously, what GUI changes??? Same old same old unless I haven't isntalled the same one as you. Anyways, was just sharing my thoughts despite the fact I know a lot about the Forte of this DAW. Always love it but can't get around to be my main DAW. And tried them all, from Cakewalk (now Sonar) to Cubendo , ProTool name it... the winner is Studio One & Reaper period

That was meant as a joke. (Hence the laughing smiley.) The quote is from the "Read Me" file for Sequoia 17.
Sampliude and Sequoia have always been old-fashioned in design. This is probably due to the fact that these programs have a long-standing fan base that may not be so open to change. When Steinberg changed the design of Nundo 13, the Internet exploded. Designing a GUI that appeals to many or all is difficult, especially when the software is decades old. With a relatively young DAW like S1, it was possible to implement a modern design right away, and no one is crying because everything looks different now.

The Sam/Seq GUI will probably never win any awards for originality and modernity. On the other hand, there would be a great risk that a redesign would completely mess it up. Better to stick with the familiar design that lulls me to sleep with its cultivated boredom. ;)

I give up. Unable to get past the runtime error.

This has already been resolved and please R2R: forgive my rudeness.

quote by FoomanchooI give up. Unable to get past the runtime error. This was a piece of garbage that polluted my computer. Now I'm going to waste an entire day hunting down and removing the leftovers.

Maybe you should use "Revo Uninstaller Pro" to uninstall and safely delete all leftovers.

But, before that, Sequoia is no piece of garbage and i am sure you either did something wrong while installing or you downloaded the wrong files.

1. Download "MAGIX Sequoia Pro 17 v17.1.1 READ NFO-R2R" release from AudioZ.

2. Download "MAGIX Sequoia Pro 17 v17.1.2 Update-R2R" from AudioZ.

3. Download "TEAM R2R R2R-WAIFU v1.8.0-R2R" patch file from AudioZ.

4. Download "Sequoia Pro 17 Extension Pack 1" from Magix's Pro Audio Downloads. It's also known as "MAGIX Sequoia Pro 17 DVD9 (D1-D3) RETAIL-R2R" and can be downloaded from AudioZ.
The one you want is DVD2 (D2).
This will install all the VITA instruments. You won't regret having them.

Install Sequoia 17.
Install Update Patch.
Run WAIFU.
Install DVD2 with the VITA synths.

Enjoy.
And take care of your computer. Check carefully for other conflicts before blaming R2R's Sequoia 17 release.

*EDIT: removed links. Weren't working.

Dear friend: I really appreciate your help and I want to say that you are right! The problem was caused by some missing DLLs. You are on my list of AudioZ holy men. THANKS!

Does the error message appear during installation or when starting Sequoia?
