A studio-grade tube EQ for modern producers
Bettermaker has faithfully captured every aspect of their Valve Stereo Passive Equalizer, from the clarity of its high-end analog components to its groundbreaking hybrid analog/parametric controls. Now everyone can see and hear the warmth, precision and magic of studio-grade passive EQs.

Vintage and modern high-end components

Bettermaker has meticulously modeled the premium components of the original studio hardware’s NOS vacuum tubes, low noise FET-input Burr-Brown™ op amps, and hand-matched inductors. The result is an EQ with a warm bottom end, airy high-frequencies, minimal harmonic distortion, and maximum smoothness.

For all that said that one is the best, i dout.
UAD is a Pultec, whay to far about other pultecs
This is a "Pultec Style" i tried and is nice.
Maselac MEA-2 is other thing, and i don't think that this is better.
Amek EQ 200 is other thing, emulates the GML 8200 like pulsar 8200,
Amek EQ 250 is other thing that emulates the Sontec MEP 250ex
every company has their own tones and ways to emulates, depend in what they modeled and what they added, and what is his "definition" about to get that "close to the real hardware". Usually that does't happend because the companies make software and seels like it was a copy one of one about x hardware, but if you don't own that hardware you can't tell that is true, beside of that, ir that was the case there a lot of variables that make every hardware diferent.

About all this Nice plugins i Will stick with Maselac MEA-2, UAD Pultec, and Pulsar massive. Of course you can do all this with a regular EQ if you don't care that little tone that this software emulates.

Thanks again R2R and DECiBELLE.

on Flat mode, yeah it does normal Pultec EQing. Curves behavior almost identical to the EQ232D (Pultec section only) but the values vary. Possible to match them.

on Heat mode though, it does what no other Pultec plugins do (I think), which is kinda refreshing for a Pultec Emu. It has some compensated gain stuff going when you EQing in Heat mode (for high end only), I believe they simulate the EQ+Gain+tube interaction with the low end but pull down the output so you get more or less the same perceived volume. So, easy to dial the high end without going too smiley for both ends, more you boost the high, more you'll feel the low end getting lost, if you know what I mean. It does sound nice on the high end that way. Didnt fully test it, but so far so good. I like it.

No compensated gain with the input Gain knob tho. Need to dial the tiny makeup knob down, annoying.

EDIT : been using it for the past few hours and must say the workflow is different with analyzer. My fav, the GEM EQP does have that but it's more enjoying with the Bettermaker, i think the pretty GUI and tons of features do make a different.

This plugin is not a direct Pultec emulation, it's a plugin version of Bettermaker VSPE hardware unit which is inspired by Pultec.

Hey everyone, just wondering, after installing this do you have any issues with EQ232D or the Bettermaker Bus Compressor? Both of those are crashing Live 12 for me when I go to delete them from my channels or tweak parameters. They open alright but deleting or tweaking anything is where the problem is. Tried a full uninstall with Revo then reinstall but the problem still persists. Any ideas?

Try uninstall problematic plugin first..

I did, as I mentioned in my other comment. Including cleaning up the registry. Unless you're talking about the Passive EQ from this release. I'll try that now and edit this comment to report.

EDIT: Uninstalling the Passive EQ and reinstalling the other two still has the same issues. Maybe could this be some kind of license issue? I just don't understand why BM60 and Passive EQ work no problem but the other two Bettermaker plugins are just broken now.

you need to wait for one hour, depending on how many plugins you have on Live 12 every time you add a new plugin, or update a plugin. Open the Preference page and see if the scan still running. Let it finish first before launching the plugin. Live tend to store plugins information in its database and sometimes when the plugin gets an update or anything, they don't match and causes Live to crash.

You can also uninstall them and reinstall, get the license right, and make sure no duplicates in the VST3 folder.

If you are too eager to test the plugin, get Reaper, it's free (and there's a k'd version here too) and scan fast. Then you can test the plugin to see if everything is in order so if anything happens on Live, it's the DAW, not your plugin installation. Just a suggestion.

I appreciate your response Steve!

I already made sure to do a scan at every step of the process. The automatic scan finished in the preferences menu, the manual scan of updated files from the preferences menu, as well as a full rescan by holding alt and clicking rescan. Not once have I tested this without these steps.

I already uninstalled every Bettermaker plugin and tried to reinstall in various different plugin combinations. The only thing that I haven't done yet is a full wipe of ALL PA plugins with removing all registry entries. I was trying to avoid doing that as the R2R MEGA release is either all manual or all at once with the .bat file.

There are no duplicates in the VST3 folder, and I've already tried both the R2R release and the TCD release of Passive EQ.

I'll try a different DAW to test the Bus Comp and EQ232D and report back here with an edit.

Thank you for your time!

I don't use these kinds of EQ's anymore, but a built-in spectrum analyzer seems like a nice inclusion.

I did a A/B comparison with the stock Pultec emulation in Bitwig Studio (Sculpt) where I matched the EQ curves with the EQ curve analyzer 2 plugin. I prefer the Bitwig Pultec emulation, altough it is not as flexible as the Bettermaker. It sounds more clear and punchy. I also don't like the valve mode in the Bettermaker ... way too much drive...
