what does it do ? shelf? bell?which freq bands get boosted ?

While the EQ curves from Fresh Air is very easy to recreate in a digital linear EQ, the added harmonics from the plugin is what makes it sound slightly different in quality. The curve is just a curve, but added saturation does change the overall sound along with it. Same goes for some Pultec EQ plugins for example (Like UAD). And it isn't really a significant change to your ear.

To answer your questions regarding EQ curves only:

In Fresh Air, the "Mid Air" knob at full effect, is like an overall 1dB boost from 0 to 1.2khz with attenuated presence around 2khz, and 2.5dB high shelf boost probably around 3.5khz with a 0.5dB bell boost to round up around 20khz

The "High Air" knob does almost the same thing, but is alot more aggressive in boosts on high frequencies, and the presence cut shifts from 5khz to 3khz the more you apply..

Already at full effect, we get a 2dB boost from 0 to 200hz, a narrow -5.2dB bell cut around 2.9khz, and a whoppin' 20dB high shelf boost maybe around 5.4khz.

Of course, you would have to adjust Q's which would vary.
