stoked to try this.. but IMO Loopcloud is still the goat for creation using local samples. In key and DAW sync cant be beat!

thats a very good find! its free and loks very usuable, might be even better than my xyexplorer solution.

and that randrum idea superb, a vst plugin would be amazing from it.

Nice program but, would be better if it had the capability of Edison like stretching the view of the waveform and looping and exporting. I just tried this and all it does is play samples that's it unless I'm doing something or not seeing.

you add tags i think and sort the samples.

its a sample manager nothing else. Edison is a wave form editor. dont compare apples with oranges.

Once you find a sample that you want with this tool can you drag and drop that sample from the tool to a DAW, synth, or sampler perhaps? That would make it super useful as a cataloger of samples. Many synths, samplers and DAW's have less than adequate facilities in this realm - this would alleviate a lot of frustration when looking for that right sound file and then quickly getting it to the VST device in order to use it.

Is this better than ADSR Sample Manager?
I am thankful for the AudioZ platform. :)

Personally, I really like that ADSR allows you to edit samples natively/pre-export to your daw. However, I don't see anything in the description of this one that says it allows you to do that, which is a negative point for me.

mkey, if that manages to create a database from meta-data in broadcast wavs, soundminer and basehead are not gonna like this.

*Update* So after digging deeper into the programs functuality.. I discovered something very helpful and unique- you can set up your "own editor" in the settings like Adobe Audition. So when you are auditioning your sounds you can right click and choose Open in editor and your Sample opens up in Adobe Audition automatically so you can chop the part you want out of a track or sample.

I wanted to use and support this a few years back (did they drop the premium version that played other formats?), but its still too buggy and not stable enough. A lot of promise there - and free is free! so ignore my whinging.

Plus now its cross-platform so they will be hamstrung with feedback from all directions, poor bgrs!

On Win11_x64 (yes yes - there's my problem)
- plays samples over the top of each other - even the same sample. So you get a mash of loops playing over each other. Its not the driver setting, nor the looping toggle either. If noone else gets that I will take all this back!
- any context menu gets stuck on, unless you min. or move the window.
- loses track of a sample playing or not. So pressing [space] is not reliable. Sometimes a sample is playing but the playhead is stuck still.
- will crash seemingly randomly. Couldnt replicate.

I will feed this back to them. If you find the same, help them out: https://www.jamsoft.co.uk/samplesort/support/bug-report/

Sononym looks best so far....

Agree, there are many sample managers out there but the only one that could handle my current library was Sononym (739 GB - 18.133 folders - 512.239 files). Every other solution I tried either failed to handle this or came down to a crawl. For me the only important thing for a media manager is exactly that. "managing" If my manager ist fast and I can browse and search with speed I can drag my sample into any other tool to keep working with it. Just my 2 cents.

The downside of Sononym is it has no DAW integration, it's only standalone.
But all the AI detection features are great (key/pitch/bpm/similar samples/etc).
You can buy a license and install on unlimited computers you own!

i have Sononym on my left or right Monitor, from there i can drag and drop into Studio One or Cubase. works perfect. Same for ADSR.

So I've tried it over and over again. Doesn't do anything but crash here on Win 10 x64 as soon as I want to add something to the "catalogue"... Doesn't give a reason / message why it's shutting down...?

I can play samples from within Caja-Nemo, but I've been looking for a good sample manager with a database, because the number of samples I make/have/use is just overwhelming, and no matter how well I sort them I often need to find some specific sample quickly and this is exactly it! Thank you so much. I was sure there is a usable sample browser for Linux. Cheers!

I was wondering what the catch is: free version can only play WAV and MP3, and licensed version supports playing of many more audio formats. Luckily, I only use WAVs.
