Moog Music Mariana v1.2.0-TeamCubeadooby screenshot
TeamCubeadooby | 06.2024 | 22.7 MB
Born from the depths of Moog Music's legacy in bass synthesis, Mariana breathes new life into electronic sound design techniques for the modern player or producer.

A powerful creative companion, Mariana is designed for intuitive audio layering and processing, merging the soul of Moog bass with user-friendly technology for all digital creators. Optimized for vibrant bass sounds, Mariana invites users to dial in tones that span genres, easily form modulation pathways to create complex timbres, and sculpt distinct sounds that sit perfectly in any mix with built-in effects and compression.

Mariana is a dual-layer synthesizer, allowing you to mix together two completely different synthesizer sounds that can dynamically complement each other or be played duophonically. Each layer is built around two oscillators with precise and inventive controls to make your bass tone punch through a mix and stand out from the rest, with a sub-oscillator adding even more low-end weight. Two resonant Moog filters and a third filter specifically for the sub-oscillator let you shape your sound, adding warmth while rolling off high frequencies or pushing up the resonance for added bite. With stereo oscillators and crossover filter functionality, Mariana is optimized for quickly fine-tuning stereo content while simultaneously preserving a powerful mono bass foundation.

Bass & Beyond: Use Mariana Leads, Percussion, and Effects
Warm tube, tape, and overdrive saturation and a tight compressor add heaviness and glue to your bass lines while an illuminating real-time metering section lets you monitor your sounds and dial them in to a professional standard. Flexible built-in delay and chorus effects operate on separate layers and can expand the stereo image of your sounds while preserving a solid mono signal with high-pass filters. Whether designing your own bass tones from scratch or using one of the 200 included presets as a starting point, Mariana is an accessible and versatile tool for any modern production environment. And although Mariana is optimized for bass, it is fully capable of producing strong leads, punchy percussion, and multidimensional effects, making it possible to craft an entire song using this single instrument.

Mariana’s intuitive user interface is designed for quick and efficient workflow while being fully equipped with three LFOs, three envelopes, and two random generators per layer. Combined with a creative and extremely deep modulation editor, Mariana excels at in-depth sound design and sounds that dynamically evolve over time. Nearly every parameter of Mariana can be modulated internally via MIDI, MPE, and virtual CV to build an interconnected ecosystem right in your DAW. With an optimized resizable user interface, expressive on-screen keyboard for iPad and standalone desktop versions, and seamless integration into any DAW (digital audio workstation), Mariana is the most accessible way to add the unmistakable Moog bass sound to your productions.

Mariana Expands on Classic Moog Bass
Mariana includes all the tools necessary for creating deep, pulsating, professional bass sounds and more. Tone layering, parallel filtering, cross-over control, doubling and detune, compression, dynamic saturation, and surgical stereo placement are all built into Mariana for streamlined, recallable access to your favorite bass chain—without needing to load up additional processors.

Hi everyone, and thanks.
Is it me or is it eating my CPU ?
Still love it !!

Question is, what is your cpu? Does it have avx2? it may be falling back to avx and so you won't get the speedup. Depends on how they did the optimization. I noted no speedup, but then my cpu is an old xeon so this is to be expected. Even idle loaded it is showing almost 50% dsp utilization.

Thank you Wuzzle. Appreciated. My CPU is Ryzen 7940HS, with 32Go ram, DDR5 (MinisForum UM790Pro, which by the way is a damn good miniPC). Running W10, Cubase 13Pro. The CPU load is around 20%, even without playing a note... And from what I've been able to read, it supports avx2. It's not that dramatic, but feels like it's not properly optimized. My two cents. Still worth the use !! :) given it's a free gift... :)

It's sitting on 20-23% idle, without hitting a note, at a 12900K
I was hoping for
Performance improvements to internal DSP.
but there are none in this regard with previous version.
The CPU consumption is crazy high and still not optimized

Can you tell me, is it a good emu? Or is it same like any other digital synth? Or groundbreakthrough of the year, DivaKiller, LegendKiller? My win7 doesn't support this..... All works, but Moog and several others do not work...

Parts are really nice feature, Compressor is very useful, Saturations are really good with different flavors. However you have more controls here than hardware, in terms of noise color and sub osc waveshape selection. also the freq offset of subosc can be handy when you have only two main oscs to play with. However, the two parts will give you another set of osc too.

When i compare raw waves, it's -3db lower than Legend and hardware alike. It's weak and smeary.

When you gain match in LUFS all three, the Mariana is the brightest, more in your face, angry.
The legend stands between the two. while being bright, it has also low end . Very balanced.
Subsequent37 is the darkest beefier and most boring of all.
Thats's only about the SAW wave with full filters open and Sub37 set to 6db per octave, to get that extra boost in highend.

For modern music is really nice and fun to work with.
It terms of raw sound, Legends sound better than my Subsequent37.

All of the above are mostly for EDM point of view.

These are the files, normalized to -18lufs

i was thinking about getting one, the minitaur some say is quite limited however it's fine for my needs. If I upgrade my moog it'll be the Subsequent 37. If you have any preset banks for it shoot me a message. I have some i've collected over the years.

I sad story tbh mate I bought the moog sub37 of an artist a well known artist in the music genre he paid full price something like £1600 but because as you probably know nowadays theres no money to be made in the music production side and now streaming services like spotify who dominate the music industry they pay peanuts to the artist like £0.033p per stream last time I checked and now they have introduced a new rule saying you have to make over a 1000 streams on your new release before they will even pay anything out, its a terrible situation and he sold it to me he didnt want too, he was upset but I gave him a reasonable price and said if he ever wanted to borrow it of me I was more than happy. As an artisit unless you arent playing at regular events especially big events like festivals you are never going to make any money and another thing many artists are doing now is "cheap deal packages" with the promotors and event organisers like a contract say 5 to 8 year contract on that particular event this is why you always see the same artisits on that lineup year after year. Many top artists dont even use agencys anymore because they take a 10 - 15% commission and dont do much for it so they are starting to do it in house, sad sad days for the music industry

No visible performance improvements. in my DAW S1 it shows 25% CPU load idling.
If I check with Windows performance monitor it shows about 25% load on one kernel (AMD 5800X3D). So, one could assume, as it runs basically only on one kernel, it wouldn't add too much load to a project in a DAW, And so it is, if I load this synth into a project that already has a DAW load of 25%, it adds only 5-7% (depending on the preset you use) to the DAW load. So the 25% idle load as a single VST sounds worse than it is in reality in a project.

your lucky with hitting 25% I have an intel 10th Gen i9 cpu all drivers fully up to date and it still hits between 55-62% when working within a project in Ableton 12. This really is the hungrest cpu plugin I have ever come across
  Resident 7.08.2021 473

ouch, 55% hurts 😵 I think the 5800X3D is audio-wise quite performance friendly. I already noticed in projects, you reach quite fast a base load of 25% but than you throw lots of VST and effects in the projects without increasing the CPU load notable.

I agree with everyone about the CPU consumption, which is insane
At this stage of coding mediocrity, it's almost pointless to even wonder about the quality of the sound or not.
The developers working on this plug-in are really no good, and I really wonder at what point someone can say: "That's it, it's working good enough, this plug-in can be sold now!"

On trust, I bought this instrument and I regret it.
You'd expect something else from a company like Moog in terms of quality and optimization.

This said, the Minitaur editor is so messy and randomly working, maybe I should have learned from this and waited a bit to get this one
