The Oberheim DMX drum machine has left an indelible mark on the soundscape of popular music, crafting the rhythmic foundation of timeless tracks across a spectrum of genres.

Samples. Contains a lot more than just the original factory sounds though (DX and Drumtracks sounds, various eproms, differently processed versions etc).

It's tricky to answer, because even an emulation would still be sample based,
since the hardware itself uses samples stored in an EPROM chip.

I'm guessing they're using the same original samples from the EPROM
with an emulated/modeled DMX circuit to modify the samples' pitch, etc.

I can't confirm it, but I don't think they would release this
if it was a just a regular sampler.

Hey guys, I must be going blind in my old age, but can someone point how to get this to play a sequence of sounds/presets. I don't see a play button on the GUI.

So it appears you gotta program the VST? Jasus, no fun in that..........
They could of least put a sequencer in it, hey? What you guys think??
I feel an opportunity missed.......

Its an emulation of the original, unless they where going to add a really amazing sequencer i would rather it didn't have one at all because there are lots of really great sequencer options.

I agree with you 100%. All DAWs have sequencers (MIDI/piano roll etc.) but I do like an integrated sequencer with a drum machine honestly.

It's not a drum machine, it's a sound module - there is no pattern sequencer. Do your sequencing in whatever DAW you use, using all it's features and editing possibilities.

I hear ya both guys, maybe I'm personally been a bit greedy, just would of liked it to have its own sequencer. Anyway, I dunno its its a good emulation of the original yet. Has anyone here been lucky/unlucky enough to own the hardware back in the day? I say that as I believe it was pretty limited for what it was. But I am grateful to be able to try it out now. Thank you TCD.

It sounds great, but if there is one thing i don't need any more of, it's vintage drum sounds. I hope GForce will release a totally new and original product in the future, instead of only blasts from the past. Their synths sound deep and rich for being totally DSP code.

Thx, though personally this drum machine sounds like dog poop, the 808 and 909 are all you need for drums as well as chopping up vocal samples to be used as hi-hats etc.
