Acustica Audio Big Ceil 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 27 Nov 2023 | 73.6MB
Big Ceil is a 5-plug-in British collection that includes many classic designs and versatile studio equipment, including dedicated mix and mastering channel strips, a psycho-acoustic processor, and a 'texturizer'.

Add texture to your tracks

Based on a modern hardware machine built in the UK and used by both mixing and mastering engineers, Celestial provides an additional layer of analog goodness to single tracks as well as full mixes.

Master bus fun machine

Celestial MB takes the concept of master bus processing to a whole new level, injecting your creative flow with a massive dose of fun factor that will make your tracks explode with sonic character.

Plus, our users have been asking for a version of the Celestial Mix Bus processor with ruler-flat frequency response, for precision mastering duties.

So we decided to develop an extra, dedicated plug-in for the suite called Celestial Mastering Edition, which differs from the other ones in that the mid-side encoding and the related controls (Elliptic and Dimension) all happen after the signal has been summed back together.

This approach allows for a truly flat response across the frequency range, something that is not possible in the hardware.

A witch says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

That's what your users care, isn't it?

Of course we can re-compress since we know it's Google Snappy. In our test, the decompressed one performed better. It also results smaller size at final lzma compression. That's why we didn't.

Brilliant. No words for all these efforts... I'm really curious about this one. Thanks to everyone involved.

FYI, BigCeil is 44.1, 96K only (No 48k nor 88.2k)

your stock EQ sounds better..

____________________________________________________________________________________

from the manual the "Air" circuit that was added to this version does something by enhancing the high end resonance. It' not like the usual Air band boost on an EQ. Maybe exciter ? The effect can be subtle on a track that doesnt have high end content but on a right track it adds a nice sense of air, making them a little bright without adding harshness and IMO is better than the typical Air band boost on an EQ. Give it a try.

for real ? my friend own that box and I played around with it. didn't really like it. I have the SSL interface I bought when it was hyped on release few years ago, didnt like it either. so pissed that the 4k Mode button just adding some high end bump. sent a sine wave from a synth through it. 0 added harmonics. fucking SSL scamming people.

and they call it transparency just like their native plugins

can't believe they actually got away with reskinning the ancient Duende version SSL plugins to a shiny new GUI and sell it at full price once. milking their big name in the industry dry. one thing I found funny about them is they actually recognize another company that got caught scamming with plugins and then bought that company. Harrisson.

I agree with a lot of what you say around here (silently) but sorry, I HAVE an actuall fusion hardware unit, had it 2 years and use it on my mix bus on every mix and it's awesome. Once you find the settings that work for you you can run most things through it with minor tweaks to High freq compressor and space/width and it does things that stacks of plug-ins on my mix/master bus failed to do (I still use plugs there for sure but when you remove fusion it's nowhere near as good - or importantly as fast/easy to get these 'real' results).

I also had the The Bus + (with 4k mode) bus comp for a while but sold it as , while it was very good, I could get 'near enough' results in the box in combo with fusion adding the vibe so I'm not some hardware fanboy either.

And, I read somewhere you work at 48k? Seen tons of comments from pro mixers saying for whatever reason they never like the sound of hybrid/hardware in the chain when running out at 48k and back in, 44.1k being a bit better but 96k (which I run at) sounding the best.. (also 88k sounds worse than 41/96 too). Not sure what your friend was running at but always run at 96k if you can for best plug-in sound AND hardware integration... and you'll need at least a MONTH with fusion, mixing through it properly to judge it fairly - not just a 'quick go at a friend's place'.

Have no comment on AA's celestial as never tried it but if it's like most of their junk it'll be full of errors and a weird gloss sound that sounds more like a plastic version of the real thing.

you cant even change the size of the GUI of this plugin and its tiny...
there is no automatic gain compensation.

This plugin uses same CPU as 3 instances of Omnisphere...
The compressor is not great like most Acustica compressor, the eq is ok.
so, is it worth it? in my opinion, no. just use different eq and better compressor and it will do the trick

What compressor and eq you are using what music style you are mixing?

Celestial was free for limited time later they upgraded it to Big Ceil and sold it separately then gave it away to whom claimed Celestial.

on a bunch of YT videos those "youtube engineerzzz" say that
this IS NOT AN EMULATION OF SSL FUSION

so what?

does this package emulate SSL Fusion or not?
does it bring different modules?

I havent download it yet, any idea?

Ceil/Big Ceil (13) - Heavily modified Focusrite ISA 430 channel strip.
Celestial (14) - Solid State Logic Fusion.

Celestial is not included

oh ok! so the Celestial SHOULD be the FUsion emulation?

again: many youtubers say that it is not an exact emulation, just something "inspired by"....hmm

That's just something they say to avoid legal issues. Celestial is def sampled from a Fusion unit

This is once a Freebie. the plugin was available as standalone freebie unit and now only available in a bundle called "Big Ceil Bundle" that contains the following :

1. Ceil - emulation of the highly modified Focusrite ISA 430

2. Big Ceil - emulation of Focusrite ISA 430 MK II (added "Air" function, more EQ bands, separate L/R pan). There's a NUKE selection for the release time on the Dynamic section, those were sampled from an 1176.

3. Celestial - the SSL Fusion emulation, 3 version of them
- Celestial Mix
- Celestial Masterbus - they call it "psycho-acoustic bus processor" whatever that means
- Celestial Mastering - same like the masterbus but with a flat frequency response version after high demand from users.

4. Cerise - Rupert Neve Designs Shelford Channel with added functions.

This R2R release is only the Big Ceil plugin, not the full bundle.

I've never found much use for Ceil, but use Celestial all the time. Hopefully the full suite is released.
