Plugin Alliance Bettermaker Bus Compressor v1.0.0 Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 24 Nov 2023 | 7.1MB
Tighten your mixes with musical bus compression
Use the Bettermaker Bus Compressor to add bus compression to your drum, vocal, guitar, and stereo buses. This VCA bus compressor plugin is designed to preserve transient material and maintain β€œpunch” while glueing your mixes together. The Bettermaker Bus Compressor will add the warmth and vibe that your submixes have been missing, especially when applied to raw studio recordings.

Unlock an enhanced hardware emulation with added features
The hardware version of the Bettermaker Bus Compressor uses an entirely analog signal path with settings that are saved and recalled digitally; this has led to the unit’s widespread popularity amongst professional mixing and mastering engineers. While the Bettermaker Bus Compressor plugin sounds very similar to the hardware, it’s slightly more forgiving and surgical, allowing you to de-ess vocals and hi-hats. Furthermore, the VCA Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) knob generates additional harmonic content, subtly saturating your music.

Filter and boost the sidechain signal to avoid pumping effects
When processing bass-heavy sounds, many compressors often respond too aggressively to low-end transients. As a result, you may end up with undesirable pumping effects. The Bettermaker Bus Compressor includes a sidechain high-pass filter and midrange boost option. Use these features to target the punch of kick drums and the sibilance in vocals.

Choose between responsive or smooth compression
The Bettermaker Bus Compressor plugin features both Peak and RMS detection modes, making it an incredibly versatile compressor. Peak mode is intended for tight dynamics control and is perfect for taming aggressive drum transients. RMS mode provides smoother compression, ideal for sustained sounds like pads, basses, and vocal textures.

Features
Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release controls

Auto Release mode that sets the release time based on musical content

Mix knob to apply parallel compression

Gain control to add positive or negative makeup gain

Internal/external sidechain filtering options

VCA THD that applies subtle saturation

Peak and RMS detection modes

Yes this rls will likely work and not drop it's license after some days... (unlike the ARXAN / DIGITAL.AI protected PA plugs)

This will work well with the Relab Maselec plugin, many EDM people use Bettermaker.

I have two hardware VCA compressors and countless plugin VCA compressors. Yet, I feel like a kid on christmas (which is approaching quickly). Thanks!

Which VCA software you find comes the closest to your hardware ? I'm struggling to find a soft VCA that can hold up to my Serpent sb4001

I swear i won't tell anyone about how good this plugin is, and let em download AA stuff instead

Jokes apart, this is perfect for me: just yesterday i was overviewing my template and thinking how hard was to replace the Vertigo comp on my drums. And today, the very same PA comes with this beauty that is so versatile that i'm thinking about using it as the main compressor for all my submixes, because how flexible it is. For sure is a plugin i'm going to buy. You can make a SSL Comp become a MagicDeathEye in seconds. You can make a Distressor become an LA-2A. It's useful on inserts, busses, mastering. I'm really shocked with this plugin.

But i won't tell anyone! Pink comp is the best bus compressor ever!

Thanks R2R for bringing those valuable tools on the table and exposing faulty devs. And DECi for the upload. I love u all

Technical stuff:
- values are pretty precise
- has a soft knee of some dB
- Sidechain Mid Boost is independent from Sidechain Enable switch and produces a 10.4dB boost at 7kHz
- compressor produces odd harmonics, saturation dominating evens and an infinite amount of them
- the Bettermaker B on the top left opens a menue to switch from stepped to free knobs; but stepped also reduces the range of Ratio, Attack and Release
- the meters look like peak meters and are showing peak, but the GR starts way before 0dBFS is reached, even when Threshold is set to 0 (no calibration mentioned in the manual)
- no GUI resize option
- no oversampling
- Copy/Paste for A - D does not work; when you click on Paste it jumps back to A without pasting anything (at least here, VST2, WiN7)

Findings:
- the calibration is confusing and obviously set to 0VU = -18
- even harmonics do not work great with drums, have heavy influence on bass attacks, are at minor level hardly audible with vocals and pads but lead to distortion when raised
- switch between Peak and RMS is nice but you need to take the different GR for some sounds into consideration when comparing these

Too many flaws for me to use it - and the RRP is ridiculous, as always at PA.

Yeah, the GUI thing is annoying (BIG AF). And THD is dangerous. But i don't bother about the Peak/RMS thing, since i have to calibrate those comps to my material/gain staging and save as a preset on almost all distortion and compression plugins on the market.

Soundwise i really liked. The thing does whats supposed to do. For now i didn't felt strange artifacts or aliasing, maybe because i didn't pushed it to extremes yet. But will start to look after you mentioned.

Nice feedback

The difference in GR when you switch from Peak to RMS is pretty common. That was just a hint, not a complaint.

Anyone else having a preset recall issue..?

There are bugs in the plugin , crashes my DAW and also doesn't allow to save my projects *corrput files , destroys the stability of Cubase , Studio One , Reason (all tested) , But i was amazed of this plugin , so clean , so smooth , so amazing good ... perfect bus compressor ... I thought maybe the R2R cracked version is not working ...
So i supported the Developer , i purchased it , but same thing happened , i shared the bad experience and asked for support , and the technical support provided me refund only , i am pretty sure that is about the coding , and they knew it ...
Anyway for such a great plugin i will pay x4 the price ... AMAZING TOOL !
