Acustica Audio Ash 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 22 Nov 2023 | 137.9MB
Ash is the first Acqua plugin (VST/VST3/AAX/AU) offering a unique collection of classic clipping circuits from the most revered high-end converters. It’s the perfect tool to help you achieve the sound you want in record time. You can choose from multiple circuits to give your mix the character it needs. In seconds flat, you’ll get punchy, dynamic, clean tracks with tons of volume thanks to this high-end clipping monster.

Details
Take your mixes to the next level. Think of Ash as the trick up your sleeve to get you there.

The sound of the classic clipping circuits that all engineers dream of is now at your fingertips, this time in a plugin specifically designed for a modern workflow. Ash is intuitive and user-friendly, and can help you achieve your desired sound and volume levels quickly while giving you a wide range of choices. Ash is also unique thanks to the inclusion of our top-of-the-line brickwall limiter, which is highly responsive and ultra-light on your CPU.

This plugin is workhorse, and offers you options so that you can work exactly the way you want. If you’re an analog lover, you can use it while working with Acustica's classic-style interface; and if you want to experience something you’re never seen before, choose the modern interface (Ash “Flat”). Whatever style you choose, you’ll be able to push the loudness of your mixes like never before with your new favorite clipper. (See the next chapter for more details.)

What You Get

Ash includes two different GUI to choose from.

Ash: Plugin version based on a 3D model of Acustica's classic-style GUI.
Ash “Flat”: Plugin version based on a 2D model of a modern-style GUI.

Key Features

These are just a few of the functions Ash offers.

Two different plugins to choose from (Ash and Ash “Flat”).
Five different skins for Ash.
Five different families of classic and modern clipping circuits from the most revered high-end converters.
Advanced metering system for RMS and LUFS.
Acustica’s best brickwall limiter is included.
Top-quality oversampling at up to 1024x (the highest and best on the market) with perfect phase response.
Several listening mode options (Δ, LR, M, S).
True Peak mode to prevent inter-sample peaks.
High quality, distinctive sound.
Low latency and extremely lightweight on your CPU.
A resizable and more responsive GUI.

A witch says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

Legit One : 3930MB (Per Plugin Format)
This Release : 140MB (VST/VST3/AAX)

Apart from the bloating (injecting SCORPION DLLs to any files), this data shows how the encryption kills the compression. Because R2R release is all decrypted and pure, 7zip-Chan effectively compresses them well :)

This is a first limiter in plugins that finally gave this true «mastering» quality to the mixes. Better hear it by yourself.

Holy fuck. What a fucking clipper. It's distorting alright when push harder. The problem here is why the distortion sounds so sweet ? yerp casually clipping 5db.

A clipper is a clipper. Mathematically is impossible to clip a sound unless you add calculated harmonics. Literally what makes a sine a square, is adding a ton of (related) harmonics, so their sum and phase will transform a fundamental sine into a square. Additive synthesis, if you want.

So if a clipper still sounds nice when shaving 5 db while other basic clipper doesnt, then your first tool is not only a clipper - it may have dynamics & whatnot (which was actually discussed on the gspace).

I demoed acustica plugins many times they released something that sounded like an interesting idea, in the end they never convinced me they're in any way superior to what I already have

Also the fact that a a top masterign house in the world (Sterling) uses mostly FabFilter and iZotope (they don't even clip their own hardware convertors) says alot about how insane the placebo can go with people

so, I'm struggling with a placebo just because you don't like this plugin ? okay

but stevie, unless I didnt understand what our friend wrote...I realise he doesnt like AT ALL the whole idea of CLIPPING because at Sterling studio they dont use (and I confirm they usually dont)

so what?

dunno for sure, Im busy dealing with placebo here with 2GB clipper that sound the same like other 15mb clipper plugins. what do i know

Can't you use clipping in the mixing stage? On the drum bus for example?
  Member 21.09.2023 2 818

yes absolutely. depending on genre, its advised to do so. If you make LOUD edm genres, or even modern loud hip hop / pop etc, its best to clip everything a few db in stages on the way to the master. So the master limiter does less work, allowing for more transparent loudness. Google "clip to zero " technique

I don't think the mathematical clipping phenomenon is identical to the physical (electrical) signal clipping phenomenon.

I may speak stupid nonsense, if anyone has papers or data / source associated I take with love.

Because, it's like anyone serious [[[[In the narrow DSP design applied to audio products industry]]] so to speak made measures and tried hard to compare digital models with hardware with reliable measuring equipment and processes, because, plug ins are often a miss. Not always, way less nowadays, but they have been too much.

Gs forum is a good source of this digested knowledge of deep technical and and sometimes valuable perceptual experience share so it may be the best place atm to have some interesting capillarity, besides toxic cucks.

My point is the next to make it short : does they (Acustica) artificialize a process to make it sound better (and thus straying from the reality of analog clipping) or is it part of the reproduction of an additional physical process observed with data ?

I'm sorry but dsp saturation/distortion yet not there compared to certain analog ones still makes me mad, it seems dead simple on paper

The size differences between legit and R2R is too much. Sad for legit users.

In my opinion it's not acceptable to make the legit customers suffer the consequences of something they think they need as a company. That's a reason for me to never buy their stuff no matter how good it is. I don't want to give them my ressources to fight their battle against piracy. A developer should always try to make it as easy as possible for the paying customer at the very least it has to be as good and functioning as the cracked version but I think they should consider to reward them with extra stuff that goes beyond providing a link to download your plugin like tutorials, patches or access to a community etc. a smart choice would be something you can't really profit from when it's pirated.

Not working with Fl studio 21 and windows 11. I tested with 2 ways on .txt of Acustica Framework. With "Lazy way" and "Current Acustica Way" ( I don't forget to add access to PATH).

FL studio crash.

Some people have the same problem that me ?

Same, and Ash Ultra also doesn't work

you have to merg the common files with the vst files in your vst directory. do that for each vst format. meaning drag n drop the common and vst files into your vst folder.

Sorry but I don't get it, which common files? I have "contents" and then "resources" and "x86_64-win". It works only in reaper, neither studio one or FL doesn't recognize the plugin.
