GForce Oberheim OB-X v1.0.0 Incl Keygen (WiN and macOS)-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2023.10.15 | 64.38 MB/115.25 MB
GForce’s Oberheim OB-X is the world’s first officially endorsed emulation of this famous 80s synth. Yet it sounds modern and lends itself superbly to Electronica, EDM, Drum and Bass, Ambient, Rock, Prog Rock, Hip Hop and more. The original synth was used by immense artists and groups such as Japan, Ultravox, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Depeche Mode, Queen, Larry Dunn, Youth, Chris Franke, Styx and many more. GForce’s OB-X preserves the sound everybody loves and has been upgraded to offer new sonic possibilities.

Oberheim OB-X provides an authentic experience but has been enhanced with powerful features designed for the modern setup. GForce’s OB-X features up to 16 voice polyphony, a vintage control for adding subtle analogue imperfections, four programmable Macros, new intro, retrigger, phase and smoothing features for the LFO, new level destination for the LFO, separate PWM1 and 2, discrete levels, discreet tracking, an arpeggiator, a chord mode with scaler, Chorus, Stereo Delay and Reverb effects, and more. Finally, the GForce’s OB-X has been augmented with X-Modifiers, dedicated LFOs and ADSRs for almost all parameters that take OB-X to the next level of sound design.

Detected Trojan:Script/Wacatac.H!ml. False positive?
  Resident 10.11.2013 4 117
+155
Yes!! Most keygens use methods (functions) that are intrusive by nature and are flagged by antivirus software. A false positive happens when your antivirus software is scanning those executables (or .exe files) and finds a piece of code that has similarities to malicious codes in its database.

well, as I wrote in some other thread, also stolen licenses from packers like Themida, which is often used for packing malicious software, those clean keygens might be flagged as suspicious even when they're OK, that's the false positive warning

Wacatac.H!ml is the last Win Defender invention. When defender dont know what's going on, it must be Wacatac.H!ml...

Seriously, you should learn about heuristic detection:
Here is a long explanation, but in short Heuristic detection is based on potential behavior, instead of known behavior.
The problem is when an antivirus put a name on it, instead of clearly state that it does not know what it is.

Thanks for heads up. I sure am aware about false flagging of keygens. But yeah as it give me the concrete name I was bit more cautious.

Great to see this!
Seems pretty good, but not night and day better than existing emulations IMO

How does it perform to the OB-XD (which is freeware)?
  Resident 28.09.2015 1 324

I would say it sounds better - softer (= less harsh) and more organic.
However, most presets are drenched in reverb and delay, so it's hard to compare these two plugins directly.

Real question is how it compares to SonicProjects, i dont care about DiscoDSP one, i think they released that for publicity rather than to show off prowess

OP-X is an interesting synth (and I like it a lot), but in terms of "accuracy", I am not convinced. I felt it was lacking crispness when compared to Obsession. Hard to really explain, but it felt like SynthEdit was holding it back in terms of aliasing and oversampling etc, it just felt a bit digital and muffled, and a bit too precise and lacked liveliness. It just has a sound character that's too easy to pick out / recognize.

Obsession also suffers from "having its own character", which is hard for any synth to avoid, but I felt Obsession had similar DNA to Legend in terms of oscillator behavior... and considering those synths weren't related they shouldn't! But Obsession gave me the impression that it was 'higher quality' than OP-X, with more complex oscillator and filter behavior.

This G-Force version, if it's as good as OB-E, it probably edges out all existing OB-X emulations, by how much I don't know. OB-E is far from perfect too, but it behaves quite well, and is a convincing fake analog. So, if it's jus as good, it's a welcome addition.

Exactly the opposite for me . Obsession didnt impress me at all ( in addition to The Legend which is one of the best ) , but OPx is the real deal in my ears since i dont have the hardware to compare .
Also dont forget that Obsession emulates OB-Xa and not OB-X if we want to be accurate . The only comparison would be with Arturias OP-Xa . The only vst OB-X emulation was OP-X Pro II together with the AlyJamesLab OB-Xtreme 2.0 before this Gforce new synth .

OP-X sounds great, if you turn the fx off & go through the presets it still sounds good. Obsession is great but not as accurate imo. I'm glad they are different & both usable. I'm not a preset guy buy they impressed me in the g-force effort.

Nice release, but sound like any other emulations from GForce. What happens with developers today? Use the same engine with different skins? It's more like a preset pack more than a new instruments. Thank you to all!

If it soulds like the OB-E while giving us a more acessible UI then I'm totally fine with this one!

The OP-X PRO II
  Resident 28.09.2015 1 324
+286
In case anyone cares to read:

MY OPINION ABOUT VARIOUS OBERHEIM EMULATIONS:
- OP-X PRO-II - old, but still good, esp. for typical (=bread and butter) oberheimish brass and strings;
- OB-Xd - maybe a bit "cybernetic" sounding, but this is in part due to the lack of built in FX (everything sounds harder/harsher than in competitive plugins); FREE! Regularly updated; skinnable and resizable GUI is a plus;
- OBsession - frankly, I am disappointed by this plugin. I had great expectations, because of their former VSTi (The Legend), which was absolutely brilliant. OBsession, however, lacks character - it's a nice pad machine, but doesn't sound like those records from the 80's that I love so much (because they were recorded using Oberheim synths);
- OB-Xtreme - there was big hype about this plugin, and a big disappoinment when I finally tried it. Removed from my DAW.
- Arturia - I don't use Arturia. Most of their "emulations" that I tried, sounded the same (and "flat" or "dead");
- GForce OB-X - this one seems to be a good one. On par with OP-X PRO-II, but with different character (better for more weird sounds, not just bread and butter);

AND MY 3 CENTS ABOUT GFORCE:
- Minimonsta - sounds nothing like a Minimoog. And the GUI is absolute crap;
- Oddity - v3 GUI worse than v2, but I could live with that; sounds nice, but unfortunatelly it is buggy as hell;
- OB-E - a joke; GUI/UX is a disaster;
- OB-X - this time they made the GUI/UX right; presets drenched in FX, but the sound seems to be OK.

Yep, strangely the installer (either R2R and original) doesn't create GForce\OB-X\User Patches inside your documents folder.

After each use it leaves lots of rubbish in Windows temp folder (just like GForce other plugins).
