PSPaudioware PSP BinAmp v1.0.0-R2R screenshot

PSP BinAmp is a Class A triode* preamp emulation. The specific preamp's implementation is based on that of the legendary Binson Echorec 2 delay.

The Echorec 2 (in Italian, Echorec 2ΒΊ meaning β€œthe second Echorec”) was one of a line of famous magnetic drum delays designed and built by Binson Amplificatori Hi-Fi S. p. A. since the 1950s. The Echorec 2 was released in 1960, and is considered by many to be the best-sounding in the line. It had unprecedented quality compared to the tape delays of the era, with a warm and musical sound due to the distinctive character of its Class A triode tube design.

Although the Echorec 2 was incredible for many reasons, the inspiration for PSP BinAmp came from the ingenious design and wonderful sound of its preamplifier. This easy-to-use plug-in provides rich, easily controllable saturation that sounds great on everything from drums and vocals to electric pianos, synthesizers, and drum loops.

Added features include high pass filtering and high-frequency rolloff, a –20 dB pad with output gain compensation, polarity switching at input and output, blend control for saturated/unsaturated signals, and a unique Variation setting that adjusts the individual behavior of multiple instances of the plug-in across your DAW session.

Simple to use and wonderful to hear, PSP BinAmp gives your tracks a little (or a lot) of that rich Binson tone.

I don't know, the concept behind this is strange... The Echorec was a unit on it's own. Creating a triode hifi preamp claiming that's a Binson Echorec preamp clone just to glamourize it a little more... Why not?

C'mon PSP, you were less snake oilish...

Isn't that why it's called just BinAmp and not Echorec? I do agree with you on the fact that it would have made far more sense to recreate the entire unit instead of just a section but considering how much a fully functional and serviced Echorec costs today I am not complaining even if I get some scraps.

The unit is called BINson Echorec, the GUI resembles the real unit (binson echorec). So "emulating" a unit that doesn't really exists, the binson preamp was never detached and sold as unit, sounds like glamourizing analog gear just for the sake of... Selling. And i think this is a bad pratice nowdays for the devs to use those tatics to push sells instead of telling what the product in fact is without analog GUI and fancy/rare/expensive names on the title. Just saying

I'll agree to disagree, the unit is called Echorec as you pointed out, but Binson was the name of the company who produced it and the plugin is called BinAMP, so I don't see any devious marketing scheme to ripoff people tbh. I think modularity it's not a bad thing as it allows more flexibility, there is plenty of plugins on the market that emulate preamps or even single valves for the matter. It would be like saying that a dev modeling a single 12ax7 valve is trying to rip you off because it does not include in the pack a complete Fender amp simulation (I am clearly overstating my case here btw).
As a side note this thing does sound good to my ears and I think it's worth checking despite being only a section of the echorec and for those interested in the entire unit Pulsar Audio Echorec provides the full course.
