Theres just something about Focusrite I dont like ....didnt they just merge/purchase a quality software company? Feels like they just slapped there name on all the tools they bought. I could be CompletelY wrong about this hahaha

And the Names!? "Fast" reverb ....cmon! try to come up with Something a little more creative lol.

So if they're using Sonible's AI engine, is there any reason to use this over Sonible's smart reverb?

Pure speculation, but my guess would be that while it works the same it was probably/hopefully trained on a different data set, resulting in a slightly different outcome

I'd say the dataset would be the same but the expressions in the GUI would be slightly different

If they trained their own dataset then they wouldn't need sonible's engine. Why outsource if you have guys in-house doing stuff

Think these plugs are a repackage of Sonible's algos. Focusrite probably package them as add-ons for their interfaces

well i tried them side by side, and you were right, i never knew before now focusrite had a whole range of reskinned sonible products, seems focusrite have become the offbrand "fast" food.

it seems they did make an effort to make sure theyre not exactly the same

fastverb does have a reverse button

and smartverb does have some extra functions to play with, so they are not exactly identical, how this would translate to the fast Eq+Comps

but on the bright side, depending on their agreement with sonible, perhaps focusrite hardware owners could be getting them bundled in for free in the future

I love the simplicity of these FAST plugins so thank you! I will say though the reverb here isn't that good, AI just isn't good with reverb yet. You can get close with the settings and Natural sounds best but I'd resort to my other reverb plugins.
