Team R2R | 21 Apr 2023 | 25.5MB
Reinforced by Analog Oscillators and Filters and elevated by Chaotic Algorithms

The Versatility and the brilliance of the FM Synthesis
With 8 operators, 2 outputs, 2 banks with independent pitch, and improved FM algorithms, XILS-lab has elevated the FM synthesis to a new level.

The results are a clear, brilliant and deep sound with a vibe that cannot be replicated by any other available Analog or Chaotic oscillator based products.

The Power and Warmth of the Analog Synthesis: 2 continuous waveform oscillators and 2 zero-delay filters
Drawing on the vast experience of XILS-lab, KaoX has a deep, warm and living sound. Two chaotic oscillators and two chaotic modulators make creating sounds that you had never even dreamt of, effortless.

The Organic Life of the Chaotic Algorithms
2 chaotic oscillators and 2 chaotic modulators

Create sounds that you had never thought possible.

The user friendly GUI makes your presets easy to create and tweak
With KaoX's advanced parameters, clear contextual help and a clean global view, all main parameters are within easy access. Illuminated modules make all the audio paths easy to follow.

Still a CPU hungry mess. Guess they have not figured out how to optimize the code. This while increasing the retail price bt roughly 11.5%

real-time cpu sits around :
74% spiking to over 100% in Reaper.
30% spiking to 90% & over in Pro Tools.

Win 10 22H2, 8C/16T Xeon @ 3.6Ghz base, 64GB RAM.
All unnecessary features disabled.

Ableton hits about 70% CPU usage (ableton meter, not windows) if I use 80 instances with four notes playing poly at each track.

But who the fucks uses 80 instances playing notes at the same time.

5950X with Ableton and Windows 10.

Not at all for me, quite the contrary, in Reaper CPU is almost at 0, something more in Reason and Ableton Live but nothing special, Xeon E3-1275 v6 3.79 GHz 32GB of RAM, Win 10 22H2. Maybe there's something else that triggers the CPU so much in your system with this specific plugin.

What preset did you try? It only uses <1% with the starting one "Africalimba", even switched to layered "double" mode on my 5700G, which is hardly a top CPU. KORG opsix is much more ridiculous on this box, using some 10%. I'm using Reaper. The DAW might make a difference. FL is much more tricky to satisfy because it demands non-uniform chunks from the VST, by default.

Thanks bruh, get yourself an AMD CPU, with 24 cores or more, and there will be no spikes.

Already using a workstation PC that allows many instances of Omnisphere, Kontakt & Massive X along with Superior Drummer 3 using Rooms of Hansa & any needed processing per channel, buss, master. All in real-time (no freezing/bouncing/rendering).

I think that more cores is not necessarely better, at least up to 6/8 should be fine, there's not s ton of difference from 8 cores and up, at least from what i saw on some benchmarks, less cores and more cpu speed is better than more cores with less speed especially for audio production, at least in Ableton Live, but the industry is going in the opposite way, unfortunately.

Agreed. In the late aughts and early 10s 2-core became the norm, then mid and late 10s 4-core became the norm and last couple of years it's 8-core. Indeed, one should look at the top frequencies to tell you the quality and usability of the CPU for audio. Bigger frequency and smallest TDP (watts) possible. 100W and less has always been the rule if you want a cool CPU and smaller electricity bill.

Xils synths have always been very CPU hungry, but they sound good, too. People who can't run this one could try using older synths. I'm suspecting Xils has gone the way of Arturia unfortunately. Lots of CPU cycles goes into fancy graphics. That's not good. :( But I always preferred them to Arturia synths somehow anyway.

Well, I'm running it just fine in Cakewalk on my old Win7 PC.
CPU load hovers at about 3%.

No Problem in CPU and Memory, my CPU still running at 5% in Ableton 11 Win11.
My old PC is i7 with 16GB RAM.

but that baby sounds amazing

some patches - hard hit - can max up to 27%
the most in "normal" use 7-12%

No matter Intel or AMD, I just know that the "secret" is in using a very light Win10, like LTSC (with defender totally removed) or a really hardcore stripped down version, to get every plugin to work...and there is no spikes, my cores hardly even warm up, using audio software.
The Nvidia cards do the heavy lifting in gaming, scaling, or encoding.
(On win 11 even some basic VST's don't register in FL 21, and it's not bug free...yet)

It most certainly has its GUI glitches...Looking forward to updates, this thing is amazing. Anyone managed to get the unison mode working?
