Noir Labs Volume Buddy v2.5.2 WiN Mac OSX (Max for Live plugin) AMXD screenshot
WiN Mac OSX (Max for Live plugin) | 49.14 KB
Volume Buddy is a one of a kind LUFS auto gain plugin that will change the way you mix and create music.
- A Max for Live plugin for Ableton 10 Suite and Ableton 11 Suite only -

FEATURES:

The only volume compensation plugin to do all routing within one plugin. It's no longer necessary for a send and receive pair of plugins.
Remove volume bias from your mixing by automatically compensating the difference in volume introduced by plugins with extreme quickness and stability.
Volume Buddy gain stages in LUFS which is the measurement closest to how the human ear perceives sound. Post-effect perceived volume should sound equivalent to pre-effect perceived volume and LUFS measures precisely that.
Train your ears to listen to how effects and plugins change your sound and not the volume.
Increase the speed at which you work and mix without the need to manually gain stage.
Target Mode allows you to specify a specific LUFS level you want Volume Buddy to maintain. Volume Buddy automatically raises or lowers incoming audio to meet that level.
Works with all plugin types (VST, AU, native Ableton effects).
CPU Friendly.

The fact you don't need two instances of this in chain to compare makes this so much better than other loudness compensation software.

You still need two instances in chain. Only thing it is automatically set send and receive plugins.

Did you used it or what ? All you need to do is put it at the end of the chain or wherever you want and it will compensate/bypass all plugins before it. You DON'T need second instance at the beginning like all other similar plugins I've used.

Ah yes. I just used it with last in chain Drum buss and realised that plugins before first instance of Buddy also compensated even it is not what I like to do. I need to compensate only one plugin and this is impossible. But yes if all chain to be monitored this is very nice.

This can be handy but since it's just one instance, it detects the pre-fx volume and matches the post-fx volume with it. This can be great but there's no option to choose at which stage you want it to start (think you wanna match the volume out of a particular plugin in the chain and not before it). For that Volume Compensator 3 is best used. It has two instances but it's a good trade off for certain configurations and it's free (Pay what you want):

Yes and no, It works behind a chain or anywhere in the chain but whatever you place it behind will get compensated.

but in between the plugins chain must be a gain staging, for optimal input level in each plugin (?)

Tbpro Ab LM is the best one

Ah yeah I forgot the debate to use 1 or 2 instances...
The answer is you only have to use 1 instance
I'll use it on my Master channel at the very end so it holds back volume if my overall instrumets-FX are too loud

Guido shows only 1 instance and that's all we don't need 2 instances

Yep, Guido here again ;)

It's 1 instance behind whatever plugin/s you are using. It will bypass an entire chain with gain compensated or on one fx if you place it behind it.

This is a cool idea but Hornet Audio has plugins that can do this and much more for all DAWS with auto-gain compensation

This is really good. helps a lot while stacking plugins, i tried tbpro ABLM plugin as an alternative but this is so dope thanks from the bottom of my heart!
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Wouldn't you be able to adjust the lufs on the master post fx with the track solo'd? I seem to be out of the loop. Or this this just a way to set the desired lufs and not gainstage the track at all?

quote by AlexeyI need to compensate only one plugin

To use on a single plugin/plugins within a chain
• Group the plugins you wish to have Volume Buddy compensate for, and drag an instance of Volume
Buddy into the last position within the group. Volume Buddy will now only compensate for the volume
changes happening within that group, ignoring changes from outside of it.

This is was first workaround that I thought without reading manual. But is it advantage of one plugin? And of course if you use it for whole chain it good.
