Cherry Audio Mercury-4 v1.5.1.100-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 14 Oct 2022 | 9.0MB
Mercury-4 is a detailed emulation of one of the best-sounding and quirkiest polyphonic synthesizers of the late 1970's, the Roland Jupiter-4. It’s the rarest and most sonically unique of the fabled Jupiter series, and we’ve gone to great lengths to recreate the subtle (and not-so-subtle) nuances and character of this beloved classic. Every aspect of Mercury-4 has been expertly modeled upon a vintage Jupiter-4 originally owned by Greg Hawkes of the legendary 80’s new wave band The Cars, and played on their double-platinum 1981 album Shake It Up. In Greg’s words, Mercury-4 “sounds just like my old Jupiter! It’s nice to have it back.”

The Jupiter-4 had its share of disadvantages, including limited patch storage, just four voices of polyphony, and boat-anchor weight. Cherry Audio’s Mercury-4 improves upon the original’s design by offering 16-voice polyphony, infinite patch storage, velocity sensitivity, MPE support, and much more. We’ve even paired it with a fantastic model of the classic Roland Space Echo tape delay.

Mercury-4 Features:

Authentically modeled oscillator with sub oscillator

All filter characteristics modeled, including powerful low-frequency resonance

Up to 16-voice polyphony

Over 400 presets, programmed by industry veterans

Exactingly replicated unique arpeggio section w/tempo sync

Carefully modeled wide-range LFO modulation with "inverted" mod characteristics

Drift control for increased analog realism

Precisely replicated stereo ensemble effect

Warm and organic tape echo with multiple reverb modes

Tempo-syncable LFO

Detunable unison mode

Single-key chord memory mode

Highly optimized coding for high performance with ultra-low CPU load

User-adjustable oversampling control

Advanced one-click UI magnification

Comprehensive MPE support

Full MIDI control and DAW automation for all controls

I'm a pro google user and your youtube link is useless for me.
Сareful reading can do big magic things! I asked user for their opinion about difference between EMULATIONS, I'm not interested in VST vs Hardware comparison.

No you did NOT ask for anyone's opinion .
You asked if anyone has compared this one with other emulations of Roland Jupiter-4.

The answer is YES!!!

And the link contains plenty of comparisons.

I forgot, you know better than me what I asked. And I didn't ask for youtube links, cuz I can find them myself. If I wanted to know the opinion of certain people from YouTube, I would look for the answer to my question there. If I ask this question here, I would like to know users opinion from this site.
Funny how a simple question turned into "smart advice from smart people".

Thanks. I enjoyed watching it anyway, and they BOTH look like emulations to me.

while being aware that comparing both emulation is as such a waste of time, I might have done it once not long ago and figured the CA version is more sparkling clean on the high end and the Roland is a bit darker and warmer. I don't have preference and 100% couldn't tell in a blind test with random patches, even worse, in a song I couldn't even tell what synth they are using, let alone which model or is it hardware or plugin, which in a way is a really good thing. My conclusion, both are good and usable, thanks to R2R for removing the annoying login for this particular synth.

The good thing about the CA version is the patches are pretty good compared to the stock Roland Jupiter 4 plugin that i find kinda basic but it doesn't really matter much because I rather dial in my own, this is a simple synth after all and it is way more fun that way.

The Stranger Things series made these synth sounds trendy again.

Hacking Gods - I please need your help. On all Cherry Audio plugins it always crashes on Cubase not on other DAW's with error message the digital signature did not verify wintrust.dll error. Someone suggested to reload cubase12 with no install but I don't wish to reinstall all the loops all over again which I will probably lose. Is there another clever way. Are there any hidden reg files perhaps I need to delete on reg editor which I have already tried to delete? Cherry Audio is the only company plugins that eludes me.
