@ SAiNT

You really could/should delete such posts.

Why all the complaints? Do these posts personally offend you all somehow? I mean, it's not the situation with this particular post, but I, for one, don't work on the newest, most up to date system or computer. Very often (about 90% of the time) the stuff posted here won't work on my computer. Should I be offended? Sometimes, those of us on older systems need older releases to work with.

Again, how does this post impact you at all? Are you paying for the bandwidth to post it? Is it taking space from something you've posted (if you post)? If the post doesn't interest you, provide something you need or impact you, just ignore it and move along to something that does. Simple common sense.

ok,let s all work with stuff that s 3 years old or more then, and if the post is big i also suggest that we should download such stuff buying a premium account so the poster will make some money with something he downloaded many years ago

I'm personally not bothered by it but it's pretty funny when someone posts Fruity Loops 1.0 in 2011. Fail.

I guess this is dependent on the type of music you play (or manufacture). But some of the greatest music of all time has been made on equipment that was bordering on antique at the time. Just because it's old, doesn't mean that an actual musician with creativity can't do something with it. Not everyone needs the newest stuff to create music. If you do - you're more of a mechanic than a musician.

When I was less informed I happend to re-download big files (thinking it was an update or because it had a different info presentation, or I just did not remember I already downloaded it).

And I did exactly the same thing. But I look at it as MY problem to be informed about what I'm about to d/l. If I do (and I sometimes still do), then it's not the fault of the person who posted it, but mine that I didn't do the proper research first. And I certainly wouldn't call for the thing to be taken down because of my mistake or because I already have it. People come into this thing as newbies all the time. What we might think of as unbearably old is brand new to someone who's never had the opportunity to d/l it before.

the antiques u talk about were cool hardware, that most of the software here try to emulate, thus it s normal that the latest release is better than the previous.the newest stuff can make the work easier and faster then the old one,and let me tell u something:an actual musician would try to make his music as he wants with all that s necessary,a musician who doesn t try to make the best thing he can but does what he can with what he has, will never be satisfied.
Am I more a mechanic than a musician?maybe...u re not the one who has to judge.I like the newest things,i think some of them are really helpful while others simply suck.Anyway i agree with u when u say a musician with creativity can do something with poor stuff, but surely not what he wants, but if u want i ll sell u my old tascam portastudio 464,Springsteen made a record with it,and as predictable it sucked, maybe u ll be luckier

Agreed on posting the original release date/year. Other sites require this as it helps those of us who don't have endless hours of time to do "research" or who don't keep track of everything that has been released over the years. We're just asking for a "sub-set" to help us filter is all.

ok? damn

True. But I am totally pro having old releases here. And having them posted even if they are outdated in case it is not posted already or the original post is dead.

Because in some scenarios it can be good to be able to get old releases stil. For example, you have to rework old projects, but your newer plugin/VSTi versions are not compatible anymore and all settings or some original sounds would get lost, and you don´t have the old installers anymore. In that case you can often not find the old releases anywhere anymore, while the place to find them, if ever, should be here, the best place for audio stuff.
For that reason I absolutely vote for having old releases allowed here, even if newer versions available.
I think the rule to not post older versions of already posted plugins should only apply if the newer versions are fully downward compatible. Which in case of for example Guitar Rig or Kontakt is not applicable.
And also for Waves (that´s why I came to this unfortunately dead post) there is a compatibility problem. Because in this old version the single plugins had slightly different names, so the newer versions don´t get recognized when opening an ol project containing these old versions of the plugins in your DAW. And with Waves you can not even rename the dll files as it´s all working with waveshell.

So... consider this as a kind reup request, as well as a statement in general concerning old releases. And as a question to anyone reading this if it would be possible to provide me this release if it won´t be reupped which is probably unlikely ;-)
