Hi, I made this little program so I could download tracks and playlists easily and thought I would share it.

Since it is a small script made by myself, the file might be detected as a malware on your computer. Just run it in a virtual machine if you don't trust me, it will work the same.

When you launch the program, you'll be asked for a spotify link. It can either be a:
- track link
- playlist link
- album link
- artist link
- some random words you would type in the spotify search bar

/!\ You don't need to have a premium spotify account to make it work /!\

The program will look for links on various websites and check the bitrate of the files. When it is sure that the track matches the one on spotify, it will download it to your downloads folder and add the tags and album artwork.

LOL, same here with Sidify. Did you know they have a maximum of 5000 songs per plan and month?

Saying 320k is misleading: free Spotify account streams audio in 160k, this means that the resulting file from this app is just an upscaled compression

The files/songs downloaded by this script, as you can read on the description, actually have NOTHING to do with Spotify. Nothing. The script only takes some info about the track in order to download them from other sources.

That was my initial thought before reading the description. It doesn't grab streams/files from Spotify, but looks elsewhere, claiming to find the best match and supposedly checking the bitrates to offer the match at the best possible quality (e.g. 320kbps). However, there's only one way to find out if it really does it... Try it, then analyse the files yourself

Not a spotify downloader? ok, but It is not clear what these "mysterious" music websites should be: where would the 320k file be downloaded from?
Anyway, I tried it: after all the command procedure it doesn’t even download anything

the only 320k music archive where files can be easily ripped is deezer, maybe mp3's comes from there.
There is no way for me to make this app work: all command procedure goes on until the "Exit?" message, but no files downloaded

After Deezer Flac shutdown, I am using youtube music and newpipe (android, download opus 160k one by one) the quality is good enough for me.

I am testing this program with a rare search "max cooper" last album, and it's searching and connecting mostly to Russian sites.

About The quality, this is one shot analysis, I checked the spectrogram with spek and Aspect pro, it seems is real 320k, there is data between 16Khz - 20 Khz but can be noise and harmonics, but I see that youtube opus file had some glitches that are somewhat similar to the mp3 ones, so my guess is that the Russian sites are also downloading the opus 160k music from youtube and then compressing it into mp3 320k

and what if I wanted a song that is not listed on Spotify?
Or o song that is in the Spotify catalogue but not available in my region?

This script looks like a google search for the specific song. Or a search in an unknown source page or in multiple pages with unlimited access to download the songs without captcha atc.
Or a time machine to 2000 with access to Napster.

The thing is, when I tested migrating my playlist from Spotify to Apple Music or Tidal, there were a couple of songs that were different records. I know, the script can try to match the length but if it's from other sources, let's say, from ripped mp3 from CDs, the length can vary a few seconds.

I don't see the Spotify link and the program seems to be stuck on Maximum parallel downloads, when I press enter it crash's the program.

I would prefer to paste the link into this program, is that possible?

Can we get a step by step tutorial of how to use this please.

My favorite list, 135 songs, downloaded 122 in less than 5 minutes... I understand that you can't find some because they are very rare remixes... I think it's great, although it could be improved... for example allowing you to choose where to save the songs, quality selection (WAV would be to die for) or maybe with a user interface... but as I say, it does the job

Hello everyone,

First of all, thanks a lot for your support !
But I think some clearing about how it actually works is needed.

What it exactly does step by step:

- asking for a link or anything to look for ON SPOTIFY.
- the bot reaches to spotify using the free API and collects:
----- the title, the artists, the duration, the genre, the release date, the artwork.

- then it looks for links on 4 russian websites that have a lot of high quality mp3 files.
- a link is validated if and only if:
----- it matches the duration
----- the spotify title is included in the the title found
----- the spotify main artist is included in the the artist found

- then the bot starts downloading every track with the links. If a link fails, it uses the next one.
- when a track is downloaded, the bot checks the size of the file, if it matches the expected size for a mp3 320kbps, the track is considered found. If not, the next link is tried etc...

Knowing this, it might not work in one case:
----- if the track on the website is a remix but has the exact same name as the original and is the exact same duration.

Since most of you guys seems to like this bot, I'm planning on making a big update.
Feel free to reply to this comment with some ideas (I already noted some from your comments).

Also, as requested, I will put the project on Github so everyone can read the code and maybe improve it !

Could be possible to have a command line option something like -a artist -t title -d duration that returns a list?

Or something similar to look for "the track" or tracks that are hard to find

After I input the number of parrell downloads and enter, nothing happens and the app crashed. Any idea?

Meh.. A warning for those who wants to use this for DJ use.. I've downloaded a few Spotify lists and received a LOT of false tracks. By that I mean: karaoke versions instead of the real track & covers (sung by somebody else with cheap instrumental)
I've found it out the hard way by playing accidentally 2 karaoke versions during a gig. . :')
Now listening every downloaded track separately again to check and replace those false ones. And yes I've double checked the spotify list and there they are alright. So you know..
