YAMAHA C7
With a beautiful mid-range and a light twinkle in the high end, the Yamaha C7 is an excellent choice for blues and folksy music, especially old American classics. It offers a unique blend of smoothness and character that practically beg you to throw in a few jazzy ornaments here and there. While perfectly suitable for orchestral writing, this piano shines in genres like stride and ragtime.

A LEGENDARY COLLECTION
Pianos was created with a singular goal: to fully capture every sonic detail possible from 4 of the most sought-after grand pianos in the world by any means necessary. With 3 individual mic positions, 8 separate articulations, and up to 18 velocities per note for each articulation, the detail and stereo image of every piano is highly customizable to your exact performance and mixing needs out of the box. You can easily mix multiple mic positions and simulate the damping effects of a real grand piano lid for each instrument, giving you full performance flexibility.

UNPARALLELED REALISM
Listen to any of the audio demos of Pianos, and you'll find it difficult to believe the performances weren't recorded live in a concert hall. Every piano (Steinway, Bösendorfer, Bechstein and Yamaha) has enough fine detail to suit everything from quiet, subdued passages to virtuoso performances--and you can push their dynamic range as hard as you need to, effortlessly jumping between pianissimo and fortissimo as desired. Pianos seamlessly transitions between 7 different articulations: sustain, sustain with pedal, repetitions, repetitions with pedal, soft pedal, soft pedal with sustain pedal, and staccato, with individual release trails.

- Created by award-winning sounds producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix
- Includes the same impulse responses used to record Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs, allowing all 3 to blend easily and seamlessly
- Close mic recordings engineered by Ken Scott (Elton John, Supertramp, David Bowie, The Beatles)
- Recorded in a specially-prepared piano environment with vintage Neumann microphones, Meitner AD converters and a classic 8078 Neve console

If you had cared to look further then this is in fact 4 piano libraries : Bechstein D-280, Steinway D, Bösendorfer 290, and Yamaha C7... there's always a complainer

Ohh is it? Then thats pretty neat. I thought also thats only the C7. Why not i thought.

I remember the Bösendorfer 290, which i had in kontakt, was pretty cool

With 45 GB, the Yamaha is the smallest of the 4 Pianos. Bosendorfer is 86 GB (not the 2GB Kontakt version). The whole Piano edition is 262 GB.

judging from the videos, i like the Bösendorfer 290 sound the most. Like he wrote it sounds romantic, something i find very inspiring when just playing. But that 86GB, i guess we are going upward with the Piano file sizes?

ofc they know, but ughhh. I would rather take True Pianos or XLN Additive Keys or Alcias Keys.

In Small but Good,
I'd take EZ Keys, or NI NY Grand, both very small..
then maybe The Grandeur.

Alicia is very good too, while Addictive keys is very versatile..

I never liked True Pianos for practice, but maybe in a mix they may work..

I used to use EZKeys but it didn't seem possible to place single notes, only chords.

what else piano libs have same sound quality like this one?
  Member 14.12.2019 4 304

I'd say very few actually, maybe Ravenscroft..
Keyscape? Hammersmith? Bechstein Digital?

Piano in Blue, and Noire are Great too, but lean more on the Warm side.

Pearl Grand also great but different;
CFX grand not bad, but also different.

Garritan CFX Concert Grand seems to be very popular among pianists. It most likely has to do more with how it feels to play through rather than the sound quality itself, but it's certainly not bad!

I used to test almost all piano libraries that were released here, but eventually I just settled with using Pianoteq to save space on my drives. Might not sound the most natural, but it's still damn good sounding -- and I don't play piano so I don't care too much about how it feels to play through tbh.

So far my favorite for practicing/learning is Piano in Blue, can't help it..
I find the Timbre/Tone, and even the Attack of the notes to be so Tasty and on the spot..

Noire is great too, and very Featured/versatile,
but as good as it is, there's some kind of "synthetic modulation" going on in the sustained notes which distracts me a little. (or that's what I hear..)

Ravenscroft is so incredibly Clear and Clean it's amazing,
also the Dynamics are near perfect..

But it's got a much Brighter sound, more akin to pure Classical,
so in the end I always crave for Piano in Blue..

-I think Pianoteq is very impressive for what it is,
and I agree it beats most mid level piano libraries..

But I don't know, the resonance is not perfect,
and I find the Attack of the notes very monotonous/repetitive.

As if every note had the same attack sound/tone,
so after a while everything just sounds too equal, like a popcorn machine..
(for lack of a better term..)

This doesn't happen with a proper sampled library because the natural attack of the keys corresponds to the particular hammer/string length etc..

So yeah Pianoteq = Good, awesome.
It beats most mid level libraries, specially for its size/practicality and versatility..

But imo it cannot compete with the Best libraries like PiB, Ravenscroft, Keyscape and all the other Top libraries we mentioned.

(All IMO and for Practicing/learning, and with headphones..
for Producing a track, just use whatever better fits the track/mix ofc..)

what does producing a track even mean

Production can have many meanings depending on the field/context it's used in.

In the case of Music, Producing can often mean arranging and Dressing the piece with Timbres that suit it one way/another, and adjusting them in all ways to take their performance to their full potential..

The one that better fits the musical style,
or the one that better suits the track/mix you're working on..
