Synapse Audio Fat Space v1.0.0 READ NFO-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 30 Sep 2021 | 9.8MB
Fat Space is a completely novel type of reverb never seen before. With a largely customizable reverb envelope and introducing a new technology we call Liquid Convolution, Fat Space produces a thick sound like no other reverb does and excels both at real room modelling and unreal spaces alike. With its novel technology, Fat Space is free of reverb artifacts and thus works on a wide range of sounds.

A witch says, this is special.

Original FatSpace is not really
VST compatible. Every VST host has
in/outBuffer. This FatSpace put the
processed signal to inBuffer, instead
of outBuffer. In Orion, in/outBuffer are
using same memory so that it works
without problems.

One of witches injected her own code
to make this hidden plugin compatible
with any VST hosts; Now it puts signal
to outBuffer like other plugins.

RIP Orion :)

Thanks R2R. Better than the original one, because now oversampling is possible with DDMF MetaPlugin.

why would u need this to be oversampled tho? it's a linear processor. u only need oversampling when the processing u are doing is creating/adding non linearities/partials to the signal. this is a convolution reverb, so there's no need to add more latency, possible src artifacts, and waste cpu resources unnecesarily by using metaplugin

My guess is that oversampling alters the audio spectrum in ways the plugin cannot, and he likes the sound of it?

I don't really like oversampling plugins that do not officially support it. Can end up with glitches and instability.

oversampling is just literally the process of extending the bandwith of the signal by sample rate conversion with the implementation of filtering techniques, no more, no less. at the very best the artifacts generated by oversampling should only be noticeable at the very high frequencies of the signal, including the inaudible ones by human hearing (around >16khz-20khz) and ultrasonics, and these "alterations" are typically linked with filter order, fir or iir usage, volume and phase changes. some ppl describes these artifacts as "smearing" of the frequencies, "delay" of the signal, "volume loss" at high frequencies, pre and/or post ringing of high frequencies, etc. I personally think that these artifacts are more noticeable in "brute force" oversampling such as in metaplugin, especially with cumulative usage.

now, according to an old comment made by fabien from tdr a while ago on this thread https://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/working-itb-at-higher-sampling-rates/ , oversampling linear processes may actually add more problems than benefits

quoting fabien:
"It makes absolutely no reason to oversample linear processes (EQs, linear filters, delays, reverb, static gain). Oversampling can even reduce their performance! In the case of a simple IIR based filter, such as a peaking EQ, oversampling N times will actually increase precision problems N times (at least). That is, the filter will be half as “good” at the double rate. This becomes quickly audible at low frequencies. Generally, keep in mind that doubling the sample-rate also means halving the precision! Sadly, precision is the most important thing for all recursive filters (the basic component of almost anything audio)."

so, it seems that oversampling linear processors is actually bad, but what I'm still quite not understanding is if processing upsampled audio files (say for example, audio files upsampled from 44.1 to 96 khz) with linear processors also brings these problems that fabien mentioned, bc that to me seems like an indirect implication of his statement. anyways, I'm gonna go to the bottom of this on gearslutz and start a thread about this topic, hopefully fabien will chime in and clarify the topic.

They are not selling it. It's included in Orion 8.

PS. Thank you, R2R!

i was about to say the same, been using it a lot today, quick slap reverb, or even reverse reverb, im surprised it sounded so good as well and thought going to leave a comment here, you just a bit quicker.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

So what is this exactly? A Reason Extension modified to become a VST?

That's kind of cool. I'd like to see that done with other Reason synths like Maelstrom, Subtractor. Even Orion's built in synths Wasp V etc. (I like old school soft synths)

Anyone remember the very old Cubase VSTs that would not work on other hosts, that were hacked to work? :)
  Member 4.04.2015 154

this isn't a reason extension, it's a plugin that only runs inside synapse audio orion daw that was modified to work in vst format so it can be used outside orion

I only use k'd plugins like this, that are no longer commercially available. It's actually a salute to the developer!
