Trident Audio Developments 80B EQ v1.0.0-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | March 04 2021 | 5.1 MB
Modeled from a Series 80B Console, the Trident Series 80B Digital Equaliser is our new Plugin that accurately reproduces the classic warm tones, presence, and punch of the Trident 80B Series equalisers that are extremely popular with today’s studio engineers. Based on the highly regarded Trident 80B Range console of the seventies, this sought-after equaliser can now be enjoyed by today’s DAW engineers in a Plugin format.

Trident Audio’s Plugin software models make an impressive addition to any digital audio workstation (DAW) application, on either Mac or PC. Available in VST3, AAX, AU (Mac only) formats, and PC Platforms

Downloaded separately, Mac and PC versions may be installed as a free 7-day trial prior to purchasing and activating a license. A purchased license can be used on up to two systems or activation locations, on either Mac or PC.

The Trident Digital Editions embrace the essence of what made Trident analog equipment classics. With warm tones, punch, unmatchable presence, the Series 80B is faithfully recreated for the digital world using ground-breaking modeling techniques, and our new AWA (Advanced Wave Analysis), Trident’s proprietary DSP engine.

Taking full advantage of this signal processing technology ensures that every Trident Plugin is among the most efficient and least CPU demanding Plugins available today. Meaning multiple instances of Trident Plugins may be run at any time, with the least possible negative effect on your computer’s performance.

Thank you so much R2R for listening to our request(s)! Horsemen too for sharing.

Edit : Guys please compare this with Analog Obsession TREQ which is also modeled after the same 500 series hardware. I've made quick test and figured the high end on the Trident 80B is a lot smoother but I feel like there is a weird roll-off past 20k.

Edit 2 : If you boys interested in drama to make this plugin more meaningful, check this out :

Wow! Are the console makers starting to make plugins?

"This is all new for us, but we have big plans for a lot of different and interesting things coming based on the brands I own. Valley People, Tonelux, Joemeek, Studio Projects....We can bring a lot of cool plugins out, but we will do it under the Trident Banner, but we will let you know what it is based on." - Alan Hyatt PMI audio group..

It is such a trend to have a outstanding/famous hardware-making brand to make plugins....SSL, Harrison, as examples...Or collaborate with software-based developers - Softube, Brainworx (PA), Waves etc etc etc....years later you will see API's software, Neve's software and so on...Doesn't matter....all the guys who made great gear for such brands do not work anymore, there are just 20-30 years old kids with marketing knowledge and DSP skills who do next software emulations.....Why do all Pultec emulations have different saturation/harmonics? compare harmonic measurements by BRA, Softube, NoiseAsh, AO.....they are not matched....some have odd-order harmonics, another ones are even and odd, another one even and odd without 2nd harmonic...different amounts and quantity of harmonics.....not matched.....hype, marketing and "we did faithful emu of this one billion dollar bucks rare gear" and "we are better than these guys"........whom to believe?

The Pultec emulations all sound different because they are modeled on a different Pultec dude. Analog hardware is inherently different. CLA's 1176 is different from the 1176 modeled by UAD etc. All different. I have worked on a ton of SSL desks. Every single one is slightly different. Same with all the Pultecs and LA2A's I have worked with. But I do agree with you that most of it is hype. But hey, if it sounds good, who cares haha

Why Trident designs this ugly GUI in 2021?

Thanks R2R. Mixed on few 75 and 80C consoles, so looking forward to trying these out.

Man! are these CPU efficient or what? The CPU meter barely moved with the plugin being used on 10 different tracks in the mix. And they both sound nice really.

Alan Hyatt mentioned earlier that it doesn't produce any THD only replicating the frequency response, so no oversampling. That could explain the low CPU usage. If it sounds good then it's good no need any THD or non-linearity whatsover right ?

you can check about that in the gearzs forum.

Silky smooth highs and tight low end, I used them on the master bus in conjunction, wonderful stuff

Emulating a piece of analogue hardware is not remotely possible in fact.
Besides complete power supply, one should emulate jacks, wiring (including conductor and insulation material), soldering points and solder composition, switches, pots, fuses, relays, exact types and brands of semi conductors, capacitors /there are at least 8 types, not including composite ones/, chokes, resistors, transformers, etc. used, as well as components arrangement on printed circuit boards (PCBs) /because of complex electromagnetic interference of those/.
You might add values such as bias current, input/output impedance, etc.
At most, they just 'emulate' schematic diagrams of the signal path.
And you can not in any circumstances compare those 'emulations' with the original.

The interface is ugly and looks very amateurish..
As to the sound, there are tons of EQs out there that sound better.
Don't get too impressed with the name "Trident". I just unistalled.

Thanks!

It's really clear that many of you don't really know what you're talking about.

The GUI is fine. These things sound great; and if you've spent real time on a Trident console, you would know it.

Match it up with Slate VCC or True Iron or whatever if you want to add a little dirt. I imagine there's a lot of dirt in a bunch of your signals already.
