4. Click the Extract button

How to upgrade Kontakt 6.x.x PORTABLE to Kontakt 6.3.2 Portable:

1. Run the installer (KontaktPortable_v632.exe)
2. Click the Browse ... button and select the folder containing the Kontakt 6.x.x PORTABLE files:

0. Close all copies of Kontakt 6 PORTABLE, including VST plugins.
1. Copy the UserData folder from the Kontakt 5 Portable root folder to the Kontakt 6 Portable root folder.
2. Open the copied UserData folder, find the Kontakt and Kontakt subfolders there 5. Delete the Kontakt folder. Rename the Kontakt 5 folder to Kontakt
3. Open the Settings.cfg file in the copied folder in a text editor, find the line [Kontakt 5], replace it with [Kontakt Application] Save changes.


How to add Kontakt 6 PORTABLE VST to host (DAW):

Method 1.
Run Kontakt6Portable \ Install.exe and create a link to the VST plugins of the portable Contact in one of the folders that are already scanned by your host
Method 2.
Open your host settings and add the Kontakt6Portable \ Kontakt \ x64 \ VST \ folder (or Kontakt6Portable \ Kontakt \ x86 \ VST \ if the host does not support 64-bit plugins) as an additional plugin scan folder. Refer to your DAW manual for details.

How to add Kontakt 6 PORTABLE to ProTools:

Most of them are portable. If you monitor the VST installation with Revo Uninstaller, you can see all changes made to the system, like files, registry entries etc. and build a Rar installer. Just be careful with runtimes already installed, like visual c++.

- Monitor VST installation with Revo Uninstaller;
- Check the log (on Revo) to view new folders, files and registry keys created
(for simple vsts like RS Spire, it's easy to learn what has been modified on your Windows System;
- Export created registry keys to simple text reg files (regedit does that)
- Learn how symbolic links work on Windows;
- Then learn what each and every option of WinRAR SFX does (it's easy). It calls other (int./ext.) .exes .cmd .bat (with adm priv.), unpacks stuff, runs .reg files etc.

I've tested this method with Ableton Live and it worked!

Portable software is software that (normally) runs from a removable storage device, such as a USB flash drive. It does not need to be installed on a computer to run and does not store the data on the host system. Instead, all user settings and related files are stored on the removable drive.

In the case of this Kontakt 6.3.2 you can run it from your main hard drive, but all settings are saved in the folder of the installer - not saved in the usual registry of your boot drive.

I fixed this by moving my existing installation, installing fresh in the new location, then copying the UserData folder from the old one over the new one (so libraries showed up etc). I figured I'd leave the post up in case anyone else has the same issue.

Hmmm... I updated this version the same as the others, by extracting the files and replacing those where I'd installed it, ran install to (re)place the symlinks and now Kontact doesn't load.

It shows up in my projects, but when opening the window it's a small black background with red letters saying:

"Kontact could not be loaded!

Failed to load [install dir]

Error 126: The specific module could not be found."

In my VST dir there's a link to the install directory which should point to the files.

Has anyone had this before, or have any ideas?

This doesn't work at all. It takes forever to respond after clicking the icon, then it gives you the audio/midi setup and after I select my Focusrite interface it gives me a popup message saying :

"You have to set at least a valid audio interface, try again? Choosing no will quit Kontakt."

then it takes you back to audio/midi setup to play the game again. Crap.

Man, I had this same issue on the last portable release (6.2.2?)

If I'm not mistaken the only fix was just to be sure you are running as Administrator. (Don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but double check, I think that was the fix)
