Overloud TH-U is a software suite for guitarists and bass players who like to do everything in the DAW. The previous version was TH-3 version, and the new TH-U brings more of everything: 15 new amps (94 in total), 14 new speakers (52 in total), 2 new effects (77 in total), a redesigned Cabinet IR module and a search function for presets.

RIG PLAYER
TH-U is able to load rig models created from real setups.
The Overloud proprietary technology allows our engineers to sample and capture the response of an entire rig, including the nonlinear and dynamic response of the amplifier, the cabinet, the microphones, the mic preamplifier and the room sound. Rig To Model technology allows you to capture both analog and digital setups. The Rig Player, integrated into TH-U, allows you to reproduce any nuance of the sampled rigs.

AMP TWEAK
Thanks to its innovative dsp technology, TH-U features a new panel which allows you to change the pre and power tubes models, as well as to simulate the action of a variac. This allows you to mod any amplifier model with an almost limitless combination of tubes and opens the product to new sound capabilities.

Haven't downloaded this, but it looks like they're saying the Slate presets were removed since they didn't work in the previous release.

I saw a demo of the Slate, and was not really impressed. The Choptones Fried BE50D is the one of my liking. The other expansions are very good as well. TH-U has really set a new bar. Slate can stick his addition, so I could care less if it ever works. I purchased TH-U earlier, and after trying the expansions, I will definitely need to empty my wallet again.

New bar for what?
As a guitarist i found this equally good as the pevious one the Rig didnt really satisfied me at all (i havent tried the new ones yet) as for setting new bar i say try Neural Fortin and STL tonality and even Helix (Especially the pedals you can use them with other stuff than guitars they are so good and they improve the amp modeling with all the new amps (starts with MKIV and up to the new Revv) the old stuff it got from the start not so much.

Amp Sims , like guitar tones, are subjective. I am also a Guitarist and have been performing consistently for over 53 yrs. I started my amp-less journey with Guitar Rig many years ago. I have Fortin and STL and mostly any amp sim ever produced.. Amp sims have really made a huge improvement the last two years, and it seems there are only a few that are surging ahead at a rapid pace. TH-U is one of them, and with this latest update, it does set a new bar for the others to reach, IMHO. Helix can't touch it. S-Gear has stopped making big advances. Amplitube has slowed updates. On the other hand, Blue Cat is making big improvements with it's sims, and some of the free plugs are near the top of the chain. We all win this sim game when there are developers trying to out-do each other. My many REAL amps haven't seen a stage in quite some time, and my back thanks me.
BTW, I use a Line 6 FBV Express MkII 4-button Foot Controller to control all my plugins through midi, so proprietary pedals are a waste of money for me.

I am not that OLD lol you could be my father well almost i have only played for some 43 years i started to use ampsims when they came out i always was interrested in technology and we said in the late 70,s they never will make solid state sound as good as tube amps.
And when computer enter the music business i jump on the wagon pretty soon it took however to early 90,s when we could record audio i wasnt into that Midi thing.
I have tested everything except Neural Fortin Nameless , NTS or the new Archetype i got the demo code but havent activated them yet and to my ears there is a few ampsims that i like more than others
Revalver, STL Tonality, Overloud TH-3 the rigs on TH-U is not an improvement i.m.o you could easely get those tones with any ampsim and a good IR.
And the amp sounds the same as on TH-3
As if you had played so long you should know that the most important factor in a recorded guitar tone is the cab and the mic.
So a godd IR is almost everthing to a good tone hell it even improve good old Pod, Zoom, Digitech, Korg, Vox pedals so much it sounds way better than with their own cab sim i could easely use one of those live with an IR.
Helix with IR (people dont get that they use the built in cabs why dont people read nowadays?)
Thermionic they have their own IR but i prefer OH and others than use Recabinet.
Mercuriall wow i like the Triaxis and Spark
Those i dont like is Amplitube Guitar RIG and S-Gear ( i dont think it sounds so good as everyone said i have made tons of ab test and no i think its the hype nothing else as when people start to push for this and that sounds sooo good many start to think so themself they never ever do blindtest so its alot of placebo in this community and if some brand got bad rep everyone think it sounds crap just because of the rep it got and most have never even tried those brands)

According to the NFO the Slate is not included in Rev. 2, even though to me it read like they had fixed the Slate module in this Rev. 2 release.

the slate presets are there, and work for me. instead of being up the top of the presets like in the last release, they're at the bottom.

wow thanks sounds killer. slate is there but the IR's are missing. there's only 3 slate amps anyway. this is the closest we can get to a kemper or the real amps imho

They all work fine, the only issue I'm having now is that it keeps going back into 10 minute demo mode here and there. I have to reopen it a few times for it to work,

I've been switching presets for hours (including Slates, which now work) without any problems or getting Demo mode. So all good, so far. Standalone and VST2, I use.
I just installed over the previous version, didnt uninstall or delete anything and all works fine.
But for your info - Although the Slate presets now work, they are mostly NOT VERY GOOD PRESETS, so not worth worrying about I they dont work for you :)

Regarding the rigs, I just don't know what the hell are you calling presets!? There are different rigs and that's all, I ain't seeing any presets (and who need fucking presets anyway). And what's all this fuss about the Slate stuff. There are just three of them and they were working on the previous release!

there is actually presets in the RIGS (even if it is what you say people would easely take them as presets)
In the British classic it starts with
1. Small Amp clean
2. Combo distorion
3. Small amp pushed with/ribbon
4.Brit boutique clean
etc etc
