I don't understand this release number. They released SHARM Studio 7.9 in October, surely the next version number has to be v8 (?)

Well yes, but that's logic's flaw, its simply a belief system based on what you want to believe, or accept as logical. Anyway, I have used a previous version of Sharm and I think it's a cool software, so thanks to those who brought it.

The only thing you are saying is that you don't understand. The developers decide what build numbers they use, not the customer.

the common logic used for version number is 7.9, 7.91 etc .. until v8.00
There is a reason why this convention, it's for people working on it and clients to be clear what version they have or are working on. So yes dev can decide not to respect the convention, but that's not a clever move.
