Vaporizer2 is our flagship hybrid wavetable additive / subtractive VST/AU synthesizer / sampler workstation. The intention of this development is to create an alias-free versatile high-performance wavetable sound engine with low system CPU resource usage.

HIGHLIGHTS
State-of the art wavetable engine with four independent alias-free wavetable oscillator banks with up to 24 oscillator unison.
Low system CPU resource usage - even with more than 1.000 oscillators playing.
Groundbreaking wavetable editor with a vast number of editing possibilities including frequency shift, smooth, clean, bend and bloat for single-cycles, parts of single-cycles or even whole wavetables.
Easy-to use wavetable draw mode with smooth Bezier curves and snap to grid function.
Mix-in, amplitude modulate, interpolate or normalize wavetable cycles.
Generate FM, PWM, harmonic morphed / reduced, low pass / high pass / band pass / comb / formant filtering and even hard sync wavetables out of an arbitrary single cycle waveform.
Morphing and phase shifting of wavetable cycles.
Import and change standard (Serum, Icarus) format wavetables - also simply via drag and drop.
Additive synthesis section that allows to freely edit all harmonics and phases in real-time.
Sampler section (wav / aiff / ogg / mp3) with loop points, loop start modulation and key tracking.
Resample samples to wavetables with pitch detection.
Intelligent polyphonic portamento / glissando (you need to hear it!).
Mono legato mode or polyphonic 4 / 16 voice modes.
Three effects busses including 4 x oversampling and mono cutoff to preserve a clean low end.
10+ highly parameterizable effects including reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, bitcrush, eq, compressor, limiter, flanger, phaser, comb filter and more.
All effect times and durations can be synced to DAW.
State of the art filter section (30+ different types) with 4 x oversampled LPF (biquad, state variable and diode ladder implementations) plus high pass, all pass, band pass, notch, shelf, comb and scream filters - all with resonance.
Very steep filter curves for punchy basses.
Real-time filter response display.
Innovative audio routing system for all sound generators, filters and effect busses.
Five freely editable MSEG envelopes with loop function.
Five LFOs (per voice - means up to 80 LFOs in total) with smooth generation optimized for lowest frequencies with ramp and phase that can be set per voice or global - can be synced to the DAW.
Built-in arpeggiator that is freely editable and supports polyphonic modes and hold.
Three step sequencers that can be synced to the DAW.
All parameter knobs / sliders automatable.
Comes with a daily growing number of presets – free regular updates on the website.

Been a while since the last release, what are everyone's thoughts on this synth? Seems to be very affordable with a bunch of cool features.

It certainly is a very capable and interesting sounding synth. I've been playing with it a lot. You could get some rather interesting sounding sounds from it. It sounds clear and more raw in comparison to Serum, for example. I do like its sound, but some people might not like it. Those who prefer more polished, tamer sounding WT synths like Hive, Serum, or Pigments. I was able to produce some nice Prodigy-like, kinda goofy sounding leads in a matter of minutes...

Speaking of polish, the GUI could use some. Some fonts and controls feel too small at 100% zoom, and some controls feel too big. Needs better balance between these. Also regarding UI, info popups [hints] don't work for me, but the value/label popups work normally. It's not the first time I see this... same thing happens with Acon Acoustica editor and TC VSS3. Could be VGA driver... or maybe MS VC++ bug.

Thank you. Sounds very interesting. I'll give this a look. They're a pretty new company, let's see what they bring to the (wave)table.

Nevertheless it's a shame you can't oversample it,because whe n you try in 44KHz or in 192K the difference is incredible!
And personnally I don't like its filters, they sound like transistors sound, harshy. When you try to use the same waveforms in both Serum and this Vaporizer you don't hear a much difference but since you add a ladder lowpass filter on them serum sounds better and cleaner compared to Vaporizer.

I've just tried it for the first time in the new version (not yet posted here but it should be soon) and your description is bang on. Looking forward to reading your comments on the new version, although nothing has changed I don't think on the GUI.

You should install SSE2 version of DLL. The normal DLL is for those who have CPUs with AVX extensions [2011+, sandy bridge, bulldozers and newer]. Unless you have a really, really old CPU from 2001 or so, SSE2 version should work.

btw. One thing I noticed is that this synth uses a lot of CPU. Possibly due to my CPU not supporting AVX extensions, too, but as far as I know, AVX can make it more efficient only about 10-20%... so even with AVX it is quite tasking on the CPU. That's also a big drawback.

That's interesting Sinewave. However, I don't recall seeing the option. How do you install the sse2 version? Thanks.

I didn't use the R2R's installer, but the official installer from their website. I thought R2R included it, too. So download the official installer, install the SSE2 DLL version, and register it with the R2R's license. Works the same.

I went back and checked R2Rs installer against the official. R2R DID NOT include the SSE support. Now yesterday the Dev released a new version 2.1.13 and the keygen is not compatible with the new version. They claim older versions are available on site, but I can't find them. Possibly all in response to this here AZ release. So the SSE version is recognized by my DAW but I have only been able to open it once. Every other time I try to open the UI, the DAW crashes. I find this unusual, as I am able to run about 99% of the stuff available here at AZ.
Edit: SSE2 version kept crashing, but was able to get standalone going. Installer has some bugs. When I launched standalone, it was looking for the "regular" version EXE file. I had to browse to the SSE2.EXE file to open it. Also there are scaling issues, UI beyond upper edge of screen and had trouble reaching the top to access everything. Seems to be potential here, shame about their coding choices, my PC is not that old either.

i found a couple youtube videos. but they sure didn't make me want to buy this synth.

Yeah the demo videos are nice I guess but they don't do a good job at presenting the synth well, if you compare it to other presentation videos of competitors that really get you hyped up for their product. I've come to expect to go to a site, see everything nicely presented, listen to demos with the click of a button, and watching well produced videos in the same manner. But their site seems pretty amateurish honestly. I think this synth looks pretty dope, and I hope the devs can improve their marketing a little bit, this deserves more recognition. They wrote that it's a work of passion and I guess it shows, sometimes the most passionate musicians can be the worst businessmen.

I haven't had the chance to play with this, yet, but it looks super impressive. . The fx section. ... modulation. .. oscillator 'wave shaping??'... it looks like the devs kept adding more and more features. ..

Features wise, this makes serum look like a 2010 synth.

Though, they absolutely need a massive gui update.

Currently, some elements are just too small... captions too small... weird colors. ..
Looks like there was no graphic designer. .. and the devs themselves kept adding stuff.. and placing the elements no matter where.

If i were the dev, i would contact a guy like Sataytunes, and would tell him'listen, man, here are 500 bucks. Now, can you please create an interface for this synth, easy on the eyes, with nice colors. .. something like Avenger would be cool.
2 weeks later, this synth would get a fukin amazing interface everybody would love .

Currently, the interface looks like someone that is about to move, and has a ton of boxes all over the place

Yeah, looks a bit messy. I think the colours are alright, but making sounds can get confusing. Also, people who don't make their own sounds won't like it, because the presets are not very good. This is a synth for sound designers, so personally I don't mind, but a lot of people will.

I felt the same. Their site is awful, the videos sparse and opaque and the GUI is terrible. But install it, download the sound sets from their site (plus a couple not on their site) and you might just be surprised. The sound is not to everyone's taste but when you dig a bit, you"ll find it sounds pretty darn good. And the two free soundsets from CHE I found are brilliant.

Bottom line: when they revamp the GUI, I'll buy it.

I purchased this for some reason.... tiny selection of presets. I wrote to support asking if more would be forthcoming. It's now six weeks later and no response. I don't like companies that offer no support.
They have no user login. I hate that. I want them to to know my details and what version I have and be kept informed of updates by them instead of here. I don't even remember now how I authorised this.

If this synth came with 200-300 presets from 5 or 6 good sound designers, it would probably sell 4 or 5 times more. People buy a vsti based on the demos, patch previews, etc.
If the synth is a 9/10 synth, but the demo sounds suck, people will ignore it.

This probably was another synth where the devs want to do 100% of the work. ... sound designer is a profession !

In response to both, you get LOADS of presets from their site and as I mentioned above, the CHE presets are great. One is on their site, the other I found on KVR (also free).

i've tried those options... no joy : (

ok, i sorted it out. it was my firewall after all but not easy to work that out. i've been using comodo of late, first time i've had any hassles with it.
so, i got the keygen to open only now it won't open in DAW. says "something went wrong" when attempting to open etc.
not meant to be : )
