Website shows version 2.3.3 but it doesn't matter. TAL is the most unstable and unreliable of all manufacturer's.

Features that suit your particular work flow or needs, perhaps not available in other samplers. Editing, CPU load, GUI, ect. Not everyone uses Live, plus there are things Simpler and Sampler from AL cant do, like real round robin, for example, among many other things. Not everyone likes ready made libraries and or rather make their own unique instruments/sound FX, ec from scratch. Some people may even want to be limited. There's a lot of reasons, I'm barely touching on them.

Simpler and Sampler both require Ableton LIVE and most composers don't use LIVE.
I don't (anymore)...
