Introducing Digital Performer 9. Artistry and engineering in elegant counterpoint. Exciting new plug-in processors, a powerful synth and many workflow enhancements headline this major new upgrade.

Mega MultiSynth with new EDM soundbank
Meet the 64-bit instrument plug-in powerhouse for your Digital Performer desktop. Inspired by legendary subtractive synthesizers, MX4 combines several core synthesis techniques in a unified, hybrid synthesis engine that delivers fresh and vintage sounds alike. As you explore its many banks and hundreds of presets, you'll soon rely on MX4 as your "go-to" instrument. Fat basses, nasty leads, analog pads, vintage electronica — it's all at your fingertips and conveniently saved with your DP projects for instant recall.

Spark your EDM tracks with cutting-edge sounds
Developed by synth guru Erik Norlander, this exciting new soundbank spans the EDM sound spectrum, from deep house to neo disco to electro swing. You'll find presets that inspire new directions, and with a little tweaking, define your unique sound. Browse dozens of basses, leads, pads, arps, sample & hold and rhythm blocks. These presets are a showcase for MX4 as a synth programming powerhouse.

Seven new plug-ins for DP9
From vintage compression to mega synthesis, you'll use these plug-ins every day to take your productions from initial inspiration to final mastering.

Turn your guitar into a synthesizer
MegaSynth combines polyphonic octave generation with flexible signal routing, envelopes, LFOS, a pattern generator and macros. Input your guitar — or any signal — and let the synthesis mayhem begin!

Productivity enhancements
DP9 is loaded with new features to speed your workflow and inspire your creativity.

State-of-the-art audio time-stretching and pitch-shifting
ZTX PRO™ technology from Zynaptiq™ pushes the boundaries of what is possible when slowing down, speeding up or transposing audio material of any kind, from solo vocals to full mixes and everything in between. From pencil-tool pitch correction to octave-doubling, or beat-tweaking to global tempo changes, DP seamlessly employs ZTX PRO technology to drive DP's many audio pitch-shifting and time-stretching features to give you unprecedented creative flexibility and impressive quality.

A whole new way to edit pitch
Digital Performer's in-line pitch editing feature set the standard for the industry. Now DP does it again with relative pitch mode, which lets you make pitch edits by interval, up or down, from a base pitch. Want to transpose up a major 3rd? Just drag up four semitones. Done. Relative pitch mode is great for polyphonic material, which has no root pitch. Or use DP's powerful "absolute" mode, which analyzes monophonic audio and identifies each note by its root pitch, ready for you to edit as you wish. And with ZTX PRO technology driving the pitch processing, your pitch edits and transpostions will sound incredibly real and natural.

Clarify your automation data
Mix automation can add life to a flat mix, allowing it to breath with the musical ebb and flow of the track. Automation lanes display each type of automation data — volume, pan, plug-in settings like filter cutoff — in their own lane below the parent track, giving you the clarity you need to perfectly dial in your automated mix. Show as many lanes as you like. Display any type of automation data you wish, for audio tracks, instrument tracks and MIDI tracks.

See your audio's frequency content with color and clarity
Digital Performer 9 can display the spectral content of each audio track, side by side with their waveforms, directly in the Sequence Editor time line. Vertical position represents frequency; brightness represents intensity. This gives you a colorful, informative visual representation of the frequency content of your tracks within the context of surrounding tracks — and your entire mix. The Spectrogram display can be invaluable in helping you effectively balance and manage the frequency content of your mix over time. Choose from among a dozen compelling color schemes.

Punch, twist and swipe your audio with hands-on control
Working with plug-ins in Digital Performer has just become a hands-on experience: now you can sweep filters, morph macros and toggle bypass switches with the physical controls on your favorite MIDI controller. Mapping is easy: just click the Learn button and hit your controller. Molding your sound has never been more interactive.

Export your DP score to other notation apps with accuracy and ease
Digital Performer's QuickScribe notation window has long been recognized for its elegant transcription of non-quantized MIDI tracks. DP9's new MusicXML export feature lets you transfer QuickScribe's beautiful notation to other MusicXML-savvy notation programs, such as Finale™ and Sibelius™, while preserving QuickScribe's elegant transcription, including key signatures, meter changes, dynamic markings, lyrics, transpositions and even marker text. Your score will look fantastic and you'll save huge amounts of time because you won't have to "clean up" the score in the other program.

Manage the CPU workload of your 3rd-party plug-ins
Not all 3rd-party effects plug-ins are created equal, especially when it comes to their hit on your CPU. Now you can effectively manage your plug-ins to maximize your computer's performance. The Effect Performance window sorts plug-ins dynamically in real time, according to how much CPU power they use, and even captures where workload peaks occur on your sequence time line.

Digital Performer version 9.5 is now shipping as a free update for all DP9 owners and introduces ZTX PRO™ technology: cutting-edge audio time-stretching and pitch-shifting DSP developed and refined through years of advanced R&D by the renowned engineering team at Zynaptiq GmbH.

My eyes, my problem with the digital performer. Is small interface and icons fixed for win?

Is this like windows version of logic pro, if there ever was one ?
  Member 5.03.2017 44

Boy was I wrong about that ! It's complete crap, the GUI is cluttered and horrible. Uninstalled within 20mins of installation ! I thought it was good for 5.1 mixing since not many DAWs support it.

DP is a serious hardcore and very deep DAW that has been around for ages. It's not some EDM kids toy.

You are totally right and this is kind of funny that the word EDM is even mentioned in their description. I sincerely doubt that EDM producers might be willing to use DP.

I guess it's the sign of the times that they do have to cater to the edm crowd with the advertizing speak.

One most certainly can make EDM with it but it's a very complex daw and needs lots of investment in learning time. Only serious composers should apply. EDM kids are better of with Ableton and Fruityloops.

REALLY ? You guys think using a complicated DAW is a sign that you are a serious, professional music composers and not an amatuer one ? So hilarious and childish !
  Member 5.04.2014 2 9

Using a complicated daw does not make you serious composer but a serious professional composer will appreciate all the complexity this daw can offer. DP is a very deep daw and in some cases it's best in industry. For example when coming to big live performance setups or film composing there's nothing like DP.

Yes, its complex for sure I never had a problem with that in the first place. I criticized about the GUI and the overall User Interface / User Experience. I know throwing shade at others because they produce EDM is easy and makes you have a sense of fulfilment in life and makes you think that you are more competent, more superior and special than most other musicians. Just wait till the day the bubble bursts. I didn't want any beef man, I just wanted to inform people about this software and made the mistake to think that you guys will have a holistic point of perspective. Sorry man, my bad. I guess I was preaching to the choir all along ! Again I apologise for my comment and deeply regret it. Please forgive me (if you can).

110 % correct, the fact that Ableton has simplicity it is an advantage to maximize and invest time on creativity regardless the genre. It is funny to know that this version of DP finally has improved on something that Ableton has managed long time ago.

And they didn't improve the GUI of the windows version. Will they ever listen their users?

what are you talking about? theres a bunch of themes and layouts you can change right inside the Daw itself

I'm talking about the fact that you can't scale the UI on the Windows version of DP: It is impossible to increase the Windows font of the UI which makes it very hard to work with.

This has nothing to do with the themes and layouts you are mentionning.

I'm a legit DP user for over 15 years,
DP is great, but it's always been working better under Mac,
they slowly improving the Win version

Hi, when registering on mac it wants to create a challenge code. How do I proceed after that? There's nothing written in the documentation... Many thanks for your help :)

Back in the days Performer was huge! Ruled the Mac platform.
Nowadays, not too much. I'd totally play around with this if my brain wouldn't
explode from trying to cram in another DAW just for the fun of it. LOL
Ah what the heck! I'll try it out anyway!
Thanks!

Looks like there's a hiccup in the try process. Oh well. Thanks anyway.

This seems to be many times better than Ableton when stretching audio!

I have serious problems with Ableton Live when I stretch files, I hear it, maybe "normal user" (EDM*) didn't hear that but I really hear it and that's a reason why I started to hate Ableton Live!

Or I am missed something ?
Anyway...
What is the best DAW for WIN to stretch files nowaday? This one?
Thanks for any advice.

Sunny thanks for share!
