quote by kobix.biHow do I actually add a new instrument?
I am a little confused.. do I need to make all the steps you mentioned to add ?

If the library comes with the .nicnt file (original or modified but trustworthy, here all are safe) you can use for now with this version of Kontakt 8 the tool that is inside the folder where the program was installed that is called (Kontakt_Button) I advise you to deactivate your antivirus just in case, and exclude it for future use, there you choose the option Add Library, a window will open asking for the location of the instrument, hit accept, then close and start your Kontakt again and if everything is ok it should be ready, if your library does not have that file, there are other tools and more info in the forum, this is for libraries (more formal) not for personalized and modified by users, I hope I have given you a little light, greetings!

For non-nicnt libraries, I have been using Nicnt Maker to create .nicnt. So does this still work with v8?

Installed with no issues other than a new bullshit Trojan warning from Microsoft on Kontakt_Button.exe.

However, occasionally Chords Tool will give me crackling after a few minutes of use. CPU% is single digits and Disk is 0%.

All previous and new K8 libraries seem to be present and functioning normally without Chords or Phrases being used.
How are you guys comparing library counts between Kontakt 7 and 8?

Same crackling over here - same issue that I am not able to control

*MISSING LIBRARY FIX* (not DEMO fix)

go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products

find the library json file

open with notepad

edit the correct library path

save

add library again if necessary

Thanks bobdule for the json explanation

Thanks for the tip. I found if you just delete the conflicting json file, Kontakt will replace it with a new working json file with the correct library file path. Well this is what worked better for me.

Kontakt 8 Chord Tool Glitch.
When using the Chord tool, there appears to be a glitch, so that if you press more than one key at a time, even quickly by accident, it will continue playing infinitely as if you are still holding one of the keys. The keyboard view in Kontakt even still shows the key being held down. You can only stop the sound by changing presets or hitting the mute button in the new side panel or closing Kontakt.
I've tried this with multiple instruments and chord sets, I triggered the chords using both a MIDI keyboard and MIDI files, tried running Kontakt 8 in standalone mode, Legit FL24 & R2R Studio One 7, same results every time.
Thoughts?

How are you even able to see & use the tools? No tools even show up when I select that tab.

First of all thanks for Bobdule and Hidera for this release!
Am I missing something here? I uninstall kontakt 7 (bobdule) and install this one, I can't see all my libraries and I also don't know how to add new ones now, when I go to Options>Libraries> I can see all my libraries there and when I press "Launch Library Tool", I get "Native Access" open and not the tool like before that I could add more things.

Also I got a msg "Expired" on some libraries that do show up there.

Anyone have the same experience?

EDIT: I solved the missing libraires problem:

Delete the json files in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products"

After relaunching, all libraries began populating.

Thanks for the info. I personally tried installing v8 on a newly setup windows partition, that I'd never installed Kontakt on. It worked first time, libraries are all registered etc. Now, I do have a new portable SSD with all my Kontakt libraries installed on, so it was just a matter of running the Kontakt_Button.exe which gets installed in the v8 program folder when you patch with Bob Dules patcher. I do understand not everyone has the luxury of being in a position to do what I did in order to test the app. I also don't envy what you had to do in order to get it running as it should, fair played to you, as I imagine that took a lot of time to sort, going through the registry etc. Thanks for the insight. Hopefully someone will find an easier way to sort it.

Peace!

Kontakt 8 did not fill in the previous Kontakt 7 instrument tracks for me in Reaper after updating.

Midi tracks now ask for Kontakt 7 while loading and were not auto-replaced by Kontakt 8, leaving me with no way to see what instrument/settings were used due to Kontact 7 being grayed out on the bass track because uninstalled.

Any ideas???

Am I making sense?

NI said that auto-migration ONLY works with recent Cubase and Logic versions and warned NOT to attempt with any other DAW. Reinstall v7 for your old projects and maybe update them manually.

Lol Kontakt is like enigma software for me. So version 5 was working for long time. Then ofcourse new libraries arrive and you have to change the version but to my surprise I was not able to make new libraries work in version 7 but then after 2 weeks they worked automatically lol

Try deleting the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products folder, running Kontakt Button again, and restarting Kontakt

I hope this isn't to redundant of a question but has anyone found a solution to Chords & Phrases not showing up in the Tools tab in K8?
  Member 16.01.2014 372

Hi, you need to change your view to default from the dropdown menu, you should then have a + tool button in the left hand corner of the gui. From there click the + and add either chords or phrases tool.

Peace!

Hi, right click the Kontakt v8 program desktop icon, then show folder location, then the Kontakt_Button.exe add library button will be in that folder. Hope this helps.

Peace!
