Omnisphere is crashing logic after its been loaded for a few minutes.

Logic 10.7.9, Ventura 13.6.3, M2.

Wondering how to do downgrade.

to downgrade you would have to start from scratch go to the components and remove omnisphere the same with vst2and vst3 and of course AAX, remove the applications folder of omnisphere and the hidden library mac/user/your name/library/application support and you will see the maker of omnisphere and delete it and then reinstall the last version and place back the steam folder and then when opening up omnisphere you can relocate it. or just place the steam folder in your external make a symbolic link and place it in the cute folder and you should be good

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure i can convince myself to do the full reinstall. It's not a critical situation though, otherwise I wouldn't willy nilly update like I did.

Hello,
I didn't test yet with Logic but only in stand alone. After a while, Omnisphere shown strange behaviors. Sound doesn't stop, no more sounds, anarchic keyboard response...
I'm on Intel/Sonoma

Don't install it; it's really unstable. M1pro Sonoma 14.12. Went back to Omnisphere 2.85f MORiA, which is solid as a rock with the 2 New Patch and Library updates.
Crashes in Bitwig 5.12 after some time.

How did you went back, simply install the old version over it? I only installed 2.8.6.c the first time and the 60 gig Library no installation before.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO TEST FOR BOMB

Time bomb trigger - how to force

I generated this methodology, it seems to still not be wide spread knowledge

open omni or whatever spectrasonics you want to test.

run your daw triggering midi on a loop for 45 mins, playing without stopping (you can turn down the master but leave the tracks feeding into the mixer)

then on the 46th min.

duplicate those channels.

if there is no audio and or the patch shows as empty when you open that instance

then timebomb revealed.

you cant just open and close as this does not trigger the bomb.

THIS IS TARGETED AT HEAVY USERS. AND THOSE USERS ARE GOING TO BE THE MOST LIKLEY TO BUY OMNI

so it only bombs after 45+ mins of sustained uninterrupted triggering of midi.

that could be 5 hours + of DAW working time in real world usage.

its why its designed this way. so you grow with omni as a user until your using it hours a day (or 45+ mins of total sustained usage total)

THEN IT BOMBS.

AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE YOUR DAW THE TIMER RESETS.

BUT IF YOU SAVE AFTER 45+ MINS EVEN IF THE SOUNDS ARE THERE WORKING. WHEN SAVE AND REPOEN THAT PROJECT ALL OMI PATCHES WILL BE EMPTY,

So then ,machesterraver, what was the latest timebomb-free version according to you?
  Member 18.05.2020 101

2.8.5f

however I was alwayts running. version in every step that I tested like this. so Ive not picked up any bad patching along the way and then only just noiced if you get me.

This method rules out three or four mnths of updates when you want really working that hard.

and then you start working lots and find your omni is forgetting patches and you have to ereferance for last known good,

im also on arm so arm vs intel patching requires double the patches and can easily be missed

I will test this one on ARM abnd on 12900k intel (mac) But I haven't tested as of yet as I need my system to be stable while im upgrading my 12900k up to sonoma and all the new wireless patches

It looks like this version would be very wise to have a backup before installing .

my initail instal way with morias spectrasonics pack on here.

Well done btw more for bringing the update.

The patching might wrk for some and not others for a few reasons, they will kmnw more than me,.

Thanks so much laddy for all the effort you put into releasing Spectrasonics updates (and many many other great titles) for the macOS users here, the head to head will be exchanged when we'll meet. Apparently something went wrong with the release. Unfortunately my Hackintosh is out of order so I can't test the legit installer, will try to get it running again (have some strange memory issue, needs to get RMA'd but without memory no PC so I need to find the time... I will try and do my best to help to coming days.

But still, don't know why, as a legit Spectrasonic user, I rely on all this releases here, Quality, no hassle, everything in one place and released by the King of macOS releases. I know, I know, it's lonely at the top but know many hearts are sending lots of warmth, you never get cold up there. And then a again, a dwarve never gets cold but still, he/she needs lots of love. Always missing a heartbeat seeing a MORIA release. Send all my love to all your relatives and friends at Khazad-dûm, love the place and hoping to visit you one day.

"Keep morrud minuroz Yoth donnar Nar gold so thamar can Zal joy Nar maybe our songth var Mer sold". My dear friend Gandalf the White asked me to pass this message through to you. He sends his regards too

All for Lord of The Rings references as I love those stories. That said, on the Spectra front, Mac users have been at a loss since the disappearance of R2R patched versions. I can't verify any of these Moria versions have been fully functional and imo have been modified in some strange way (you will notice the installers are a different size to the official ones). It is the only option we have short of a patcher so kudos for that, but honestly since R2R jumped ship on this one I have stopped using these in projects much as they are unreliable. Following my previous posts I have had some issues with this update, such as the sound cutout and GUI anomalies. I don't plan to roll back though and given the years this has been a problem, have lost interest. Short of buying them like yourself, I am over it. R2R or Bust! (That is of course unless a new wizard maybe Gandalf the Patcher appears on the scene.)

Can someone please explain why there is an asterisk symbol at “CHECK FOR UPDATES” when Omnisphere is opened in the DAW.. (it’s not there in standalone).

all i know is that version 2.8.5D works like a charm and not planing to update since everything is working well on Mac Ventura 13.6.3 M1 and also tested it on Intel and Banks on a external ssd without a problem. If it's not broke don't fix it.

Thanks a lot for the Plugin!

Works kinda stable but as soon as i reopen my project file in ableton live 11, all omni midi tracks lost their patches. Is there a way to keep them? The only workaround i found was recording it into an audio track but would prefer to keep it midi. seems to be a common problem and read through all the comments here but didn't find a solution yet sadly.. any idea how i can fix it?

You are experiencing a time bomb there mate. look at my posts about time bomb

I'm on 2.8.5f Arm

no forgotten patches

you may have carried bad Patches over with bombs, recommendation:

Back up and then reinstall and test with my methodology, and you will ensure no time bomb occurs

Is this the full version or just the update? I downloaded it and it seems to be just the update.

Where can I find the full vst version to add the update to?

I have this problem when running omnisphere on mac m1 pro, Ableton Live 12 ; While playing the instrument, my ableton sesh collapses and shuts down. The patches in omnisphere sometimes recovers but sometimes not. It's really frustrating... How to fix this issue?
