UnderTone Audio UnFairchild 670M mkII v1.0.2 REGGED WiN MAC-BUBBiX screenshot
BUBBiX | 1 October 2024 | 84 MB / 33 MB
This plugin is a painstaking recreation of the coveted Undertone Audio UnFairchild 670M mkII Vari-Mu Compressor.

A design and development collaboration between MIXLAND and Eric Valentine, it is a process that starts with testing and measuring then, listening and experimenting and tweaking and refining over and over and over for over 6 months. The result is a plugin that unquestionably captures the unique vibe and character of the hardware.

Now we can all enjoy the magic and mojo of the classic UnFairchild sound in plugin form.

The features and controls for the UnFairchild 670M II plugin are the same as the hardware, with a few additions. We added an Output Level Control, Wet/Dry Mix control, and an Overall THD control. The Overall THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) control allows you to increase or decrease the amount of UnFairchild style THD character.”

This thing sounds really good. overall warmth when increasing the input level while balancing the output. You can hear some pleasant harmonics.

Too bad this thing is a cpu killer. 1 instances will peak around 35% in studio one with the oversampling disabled.
Enable oversampling x2 and you will be half way cooked up to 50%
switch to x4 and you're almost well done peaking around 98%
Switch it to x8 and you are burned.
And that's to say only thing on an empty project, no tracks, no other instruments no nothing just pure unfairchild alone

If I'm happy with a plugin such as might be with this Unfairchild which demands lots of cpu when oversampling for a track or buss, I will commit to it by printing and using that audio...if it's that good that is.
Music is always a commentary on society.

That's mental.
It will no doubt be one of those that I love to use but have to print audio with oversampling on and then get back to work.

I love anything Motown so this is for me
Fairchild, Pultec, etc. - vintage emus are always appreciated from my side - the more plugin developers try their luck, the more choice for us. I cannot afford the hardware, not even the software, so I'm just glad and thankful there are plenty of 'em on audioz.
