How to install Kontakt 8 PORTABLE.

1. Create an empty folder. The name of the folder itself and the path to it MUST NOT CONTAIN CYRILLIC. The folder MUST BE WRITTEN (it cannot be installed in the Program Files folder).
2. Run the installer (KontaktPortable_v801.exe).
3. Click the Browse... button and select the created empty folder.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. The first time you launch the Library Manager, it will automatically scan the factory content, as well as the already installed libraries (scanning in the registry).
After scanning is complete, you must save the changes and (re)launch Kontakt.
If the changes were not saved the first time you launched it, you can launch the automatic scan at any time using the Alt + Insert key combination or from the context menu of the Manager:
ADD > quick search for installed libraries

By default, libraries are added only to the classic browser (except for factory content). This behavior can be changed in the Library Manager settings:
Libraries > Manage Libraries in NKS Browser

How to add Kontakt 8 PORTABLE VST3 to DAW.

Method 1 (not suitable for all DAWs):
Add the Kontakt8Portable\Kontakt 8\x64\VST3\ folder as an additional plugin scanning folder. For details, refer to your DAW's manual.
Method 2.
Run Kontakt8Portable\Install.exe
On the component selection page, check the "Add VST3 plugin to DAW" box.

Whenever I launch it. It always shows the main view of instruments, then I have to click library button on top to get to my libraries but it was not the case in v7
I want it to show my libraries like old way as soon as i launch it
is there anyway to do that?

Its in options-interface. untick show fullscreen library browser
Under view select classic view

Edit, the VST3 does not read the default.ini so it does not remember. Same here as with non portable by bob. guessing legit too.

Yes does not seem to be remembering the setting but worked before in K7 cos it used to annoy me too. Just have to click Library button once or twice every time for now and make sure in Classic View if that is what you want

Thanks for the portable version but it's not working as expected. In Kontakt 8 full version, Maschine expansions showing up correctly under Loops and One-Shots with folder icons but in K8 Portable the images are missing. Any fix for this?

you can add the maschine folder as a library
use the original PAResource artwork as wallpapper, but it will also show in the instruments.
it is not made for the NI environement.

maschine expansion don't have a nicnt file with PAResources inside, it need the original installer (program/common files)
or the PAResources folder edited by NI, to repair broken thumbnails.

I'm encountering an oddity...

I installed version 8.1 r2r which seems to work like clockwork. But in the portable version, in the default view, I cannot navigate through the presets: they "jump" when I scroll and therefore cannot use this interesting option of this new version.

Anyone encountering this problem?? a solution, maybe a bug?

I am having a similar issue to some that have posted above. I installed everything successfully, and after using the library manager to find the libraries, they show up there. But after clicking save, and reopening the plugin, nothing is showing in the library window. In addition to that, I went back to Version 7 that was previously working fine, and its doing the same thing. Anyone know what might be going wrong?

Strange behavior of Portable 7 and 8 in FL Studio.
After some browsing through presets, Portable goes suddenly silent. Never happend in Kontakt 6. Did anyone else experienced this ?
