The Avalon VT-747SP combines a tube/discrete modeled Class A opto-compressor with a musical six-band program equalizer, as well as output level and gain reduction metering. Ideal for signal conditioning, stereo buss compression and EQ, stereo keyboards and mastering applications.

Avalon VT-747SP Native was developed by Kazrog in conjunction with Avalon Design, and is meticulously modeled upon their hardware, carefully studying multiple units over the course of 2022 and 2023. We believe it is the most accurate digital representation of Avalon's legendary analog hardware to date, and we are honored to have been selected to model this incredible piece of hardware.

Features
Full dynamic control from soft compression to hard-knee limiting can be achieved with master threshold, compression ratio, attack and release controls.

Gain reduction indication is a large analog-style VU meter.

Low and High Frequency (LF and HF) contour parametric spectral controls can be routed into the internal side-chain path for enhanced frequency dependent compression with variable frequency and threshold levels.

SC LISTEN switch provides side chain listen mode for easy monitoring, or creative EQ applications.

6 band graphic EQ models the smooth characteristics of an all passive design. The frequency turnover, Q and amplitude ranges have been carefully chosen for each band to provide the most natural harmonic balance with lowest phase change while offering simple and effective tone control.

Graphic EQ can be placed pre or post compressor for enhanced versatility.
TSP (Tube Signal Path) which gives you the choice of either tube tone (utilizing three virtual high-voltage dual triode tubes), or the classic, Class A discrete transistor sound (utilizing virtual discrete transistor amplifiers) in the primary opto buffers and output stages.

like a Avalon VT-747SP, it is barely in the ball park. I understand the whole marketing aspect about trying to copy a product that has paved the way and proven it's self but if your not close it doesn't make you look good. Riding on coattails is not as good as just making a great plug in.

Adjusting the Sidechain contour levels HF or LF results in the most hideous digital distortion, I'm not impressed by the overall plugin, even besides this strange behaviour. Something is wrong with oversampling as well, it seems there's a phase shift in the low frequencies of the EQ, the higher the oversampling rate gets.

And this is where its main flaw comes into play. The high shelf's curve changes with the sampling rate. Kazrog needs to fix this.

This version is very buggy. Kazrog recommends using 2x or 4x oversampling while he works on fixing this problem.

Used on the mix bus, the plugin alters the signal on export by almost 20db, so Studio One disables it and crashes.

Hey guys I’m gonna say this bash me if you will. I’m overall not impressed with kazrog. Their Synth warmer sounds incredibly plastic like. I do like their compressors sometimes just the first one. Quick and simple. But no their analog emulations I’m not convinced use superior algorithms to other plugins

The hardware is not BS. Numerous records have Avalone HW tone imprint all over them. You have to get to know the equipment - especially in this HWs' original price range - to find those sweet-spots. Ultimately (under, a, $$ is no object scenario), you'd find the sweet-spot for that piece of HW dedicated for a specific studio task (vox, snare, blah, blah) and you never change it (sans pres).

Examples of equipment companies that sound good even if you twist all the knobs at random imo: Tubetech, DW Fearn, Inward Connections, Manley, NEVE-esque (1073/81EQs)....many others. Expect to pay dearly for those circuits. :)

Exactly. And I would imagine quite a few of the people comparing to hardware or saying the hardware sucks, do not actually have the hardware, and are going on other people's "Subjective" opinion.

For the record, as hardly anybody else has actually commented on this, it works ok in Windows 10 and 11, however, there are the issues mentioned for me as well.

The eq sounds really good but the plugin is buggy as hell. Loaded it on a Lead vocal track and tweaked the eq with the os at both 2x and 4x and with plugin gui open, it makes PreSonus Studio One 6 Professional v6.2.1-AUDIOWAREZ whole gui lag but the audio continues playing in real time. With the plugin gui closed Studio one gui acts normal but overall one instance was using around 14% cpu. This is v1.0.0 of this plugin so hopefully kazrog sort out all these bugs in future updates as expected and hopefully we see those future updates here cause it's a good sounding plugin especially on vocals. Thanks for sharing Flare, you're the man...

I had the real hardware but sold it. I was always getting better results with plugins.
I'm pretty sure I won't be impressed by this plugin.

I like the plugin, it has potential, but it really has bugs still, I only tried it on studio one 6, windows 10 (Recently Updated)
When exporting the Studio one mix, it shows an error and deactivates the plugin, there are also audio offset errors in a mix, the volume is lowered in an exported mix, the audio is cut in an EZD3 drum channel for example, I think By fixing those errors, it can be very beautiful, but as it is, it cannot be used in a production, thank you very much for sharing, and I look forward to any update :)

People not finding presets and or able to save.. should download and install the demo first (!), find presets and edit prefs / save OS 2X live - 4X offline. Then install this and enjoy (almost). Mac OS Intel, I installed this way even in High Sierra. Sadly, in S1 6.2 you need to close all other plugin windows in order for this plugin to function properly. Kazrog excuses that bad things happen with older hardware is BS.. as people have problems even with silicon M1s. Else.. they should change minimum system requirements and stop blaming others… lol

I typically don't leave comments but this plugin is a very interesting case. There are absolutely bugs but it's undeniable (at least to me) that there is something special about this plugin. But not where you'd expect...

First the bad:
Sure the oversampling is borked. When set to offline 32x... (project 48k) causes glitches that I've never heard anything close to ON EXPORT. Dropouts, muting of the left channel, distortion, the list goes on. As other users have commented, the high shelf behavior is also unexpected. Currently it's set to 8x for the project I used it on.

Now the good:
There are some fantastic presets (Brauer's for example) and the warmth from the eq / pre is distinctly Avalon. My absolute favorite thing about the plugin............ IS THE 500HZ EQ BAND??? For years and years I've looked through over 1000 plug-ins (I am addicted, what can I say lol) looking for some low mid warmth and roundness. My mixes have always sounded slightly thin. Not anemic in the subs or unbalanced by any means but just... Something ever so slightly missing. When I boosted that 500hz band, I've never heard the entire mids mix solidify and thicken like that before. MUCH MUCH different than a MAAG 600hz band. Nowhere close. My girlfriend has no idea anything about music software but I was so struck and gobsmacked by how obvious the difference was that I stuck the headphones on her ears and had her move the slider. She was just as blown away as me.

Note: the ranges for each eq band are not the same. 500hz is only + or - 4dB while the 15hz shelf is + or - 24dB I think for example

So sure the plugin could use some bugfixes but at the end of the day I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And damn is the dark gui sexy
