Beyond Physical Modeling

Plasmonic captures the complex acoustic resonances of Physical Modeling, expands on it with more familiar elements of Subtractive Synthesis, and adds a few unique twists.

From plucked strings with an acoustic presence, to vast imaginary soundscapes, to gnarly leads and complex rhythmic textures, Plasmonic will go wherever your imagination takes it.

Thank you Nebula for this release! Audjoo Helix seemed to me more interesting in terms of sound synthesis...

It is not terribly exciting at this point in development (as we see it with this version) yet, but there are hidden impossible-to-use themes. On the left, you can see it is running "Teal and Orange" and on the right is the normal "Classic." Doesn't look too different but if you look at it closely, it is actually different.

There is also a "Theme (Desaturated)" and a "Theme (Less Contrast)" that are also equally impossible to enable unless you move and shake the right things around in the code. (Being literal here, basically.) I didn't see the latter two myself, yet. A tiny increment of 2 for one and another 2 for another, should do the trick all the same, I suspect. 31, 33, 35, 37, 39: 31 is Blue Green, 33 is Classic, 35 is Teal and Orange. Well, what do you think the other two are going to be, if I am saying they are likely above, based on what I already know? (Rhetorical) Numbers here are shown as their decimal equivalents. The code knows not those actual seen numbers above.

Anyway, here: Look at the menu on left. "Theme (Teal and Orange)"

After looking a little while more: That is probably still the Blue Green theme on the left. The main point I am trying to convey is that all these options exist already, without way to get to them in "normal" version or "normal" patched version above.

You can actually activate the hidden themes!
In the debugger, below the theme string "Blue Green" you can find:
mov edx, 0x1F
Change it to
mov edx, 0x20
and you're activating "Theme (Teal and Orange)" by selecting the Blue Green Theme.

Here are all the theme codes:
mov edx, 0x1F = (Blue Green)
mov edx, 0x20 = (Teal and Orange)
mov edx, 0x21 = (Classic)
mov edx, 0x22 = (Desaturated)
mov edx, 0x23 = (Less Contrast)

You also can simply change the mov edx instructions above in the debugger
(Update, User Manual, Rhizomatic on line)
to the theme codes and when you then select for example the "Update" button,
it switches to the theme instead.

I also changed the constants of these entries so now I have a nice theme menu:

Yes, that's all what I was getting at and I put it to the side after a bit. Seems like you perfected it. AWESOME!

I was thinking the other way around, about the mov activating instead of Classic - in other words, I was thinking it worked like this:

and you're activating "Theme (Teal and Orange)" by selecting the Classic

I think maybe part of the reason is I might have made it do other things after the mov block. Brute-forced to what I saw instead of "Classic."

And by "impossible" I intended exactly: "Impossible for the general pubic using generic default binaries." :) Nice!

Yes, at one point, changing the theme was also changing the size of the GUI because of leaving in add or sub instructions when experimenting (figured after the fact.)

I bet you can "follow the code" type of thinking to get to the color values themselves, so you can make any colors you want.

General public can still use and change the themes by simply editing the *.settings file in
C:\Users\ username \AppData\Roaming\Rhizomatic\Plasmonic

Just edit the line:
<PROPERTIES>
  <VALUE name="Theme" val="2"/>
1 = Classic
2 = Teal and Orange
3 = Less Contrast
4 = Desaturated

If there is no such entry, just add it.
Any number from 5 above hides the theme menu completely - it just disappears, haha.

But I won't bother with this no more because no matter what theme I choose,
it doesn't change how ugly the UI looks to me ;)

Does anyone know if this synth refers to the generation, detection, and manipulation of signals at optical frequencies along metal-dielectric interfaces in the nanometer scale, as the scientific term plasmonics?

Yes of course, and they also added a relative Higgs field and dark matter modulators, so you can easily create your own universe.
Given the relativity of time, this may or not be depending when you are and what's your speed.

I am not sure this is working correctly you know. Closing the GUI seems to reset toggle states of buttons. Also, sometimes buttons don't toggle. Ummm. Using in Reaper.
EDIT: When opening the plugin buttons are highlighted that shouldn't be too. When clicking them, they take effect but... don't change state.

i observe the same behaviour. the show stopper is imho that not a single "invert" button on the mod sources window works. all are lit and not toggleble. in standalone, ableton, vsthost, win 7. its a pity :-(
edit: the "invert" buttons can be switched on, but never off. they are always lit, their state is not visible.

Yeah. Tried in a few hosts myself. Fundamentally broken unfortunately. Hopefully it can be fixed.

yeah i noticed it myself, hope a proper comes soon. As its a nice cool synth and a lot better than Absynth imo.
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

Found it, probably in the manual too. Leftclick invert, rightclick normal. After a toggle indicates correct. Small bug.
