Yes, you have to change owner/group of the file to your user account/staff.
Currently, it's most likely set to root:admin.

To see who owns it, type into the terminal "ls -la " (with the space at the end) then drag your file and hit enter.

To change owner to your user account, use the following command:

"sudo chown -R USER:staff /path/to/directory"
(change USER to your username & replace the example path at the end)
