KONTAKT is the Definitive Sampling Platform and Industry-Standard. KONTAKT powers the biggest selection of sampled instruments available. Included Factory Library 2 puts 55+ GB of detailed, creative, and expressive instruments at your fingertips. Drag and drop your own samples into an instrument’s interface to use your own sounds. Build your own instruments with powerful sample-editing and instrument-building.

The virtual instrument platform reinvented
Imagine any sound – Kontakt lets you find it, create it, and transform it. The latest edition of our revolutionary sampling platform combines a brand-new set of intelligent tools with countless sound design options, redefining how you generate ideas and make music.

A huge choice of sound
Kontakt hosts the world’s largest range of virtual instruments. With thousands of libraries, it's the gateway to quality sound from Native Instruments, our official partners, and scores of indie developers. Plus, everything is completely tweakable, so you can make any sound your own.

What's new in Kontakt 8?
The most feature-packed release yet is here to transform the way you generate, modulate, and playback sound. Plus, it's packed with performance updates so you can work faster than ever:

Smash writer's block - Tools add a completely new layer of creative features to get the ideas flowing. And they work with any Kontakt instrument, old and new. For our first drop, we're launching MIDI content and randomization features with Chords and Phrases, designed to spark new ideas and get you in the zone fast.

Fast and fun loop control - Leap is an ultra-fast and playful way to play and manipulate loops. Spark fresh ideas, sprinkle in expressive performance effects, or just jam. Breathe new life into your sample collection or try something totally fresh with our new Leap Expansions series, starting with 12 curated packs for specific genres and styles.

Sound like nothing else - Conflux is the first in a new breed of Kontakt instruments for experimental sound design. Layer organic and synthetic samples and add dynamic movement to static sounds in real time, with original PPG wavetables and techniques like FM, Phase Modulation, and Ring Modulation.

Get going with hundreds of included instruments
Kontakt's Factory Library comes packed with over hundreds of meticulously sampled instruments. Get started with a huge playable and tweakable selection of acoustic and electronic options, including the renowned collection from Orchestral Tools, plus Hybrid Keys.

Dream it, build it
All your favorite Kontakt instruments are built right here. The powerful feature set makes Kontakt the first choice for instrument developers worldwide, and it just got even bigger with enhanced synth capabilities, including real-time wavetable, frequency modulation, and ring modulation oscillators.

What's the difference between Kontakt and Kontakt Player?
Just looking to use Kontakt instruments? Kontakt Player is the free version that runs all NI Kontakt instruments and many more officially licensed options from third-party developers (make sure to check the compatibility before you buy).

The go-to for pros
You've heard Kontakt at the top of the charts, in Oscar-winning scores, and on the soundtracks of major TV shows. It's the favorite of so many composers, producers, and sound designers for its unmatched sound quality, deep manipulation feature set, and incredible attention to detail.

→ Features:
• Tools - Chords and Phrases Tools deliver MIDI content and randomization features for creating melodies and sequences, sparking new ideas fast. Works with any Kontakt instrument.

Hey, I just wrote a bunch of different solutions to try out below
Maybe one of them will solve the issue for you
lmk if it doesn't, and I can try to help dig a little more 😊
Hackintosh | OpenCore 1.0.4 | macOS Sequoia 15.4

I'll take another go and see if I can get to show up.

hi bro, can i install the new kontakt 8.2 on version 8? I'm on Mac
  Member 17.01.2024 525

I don't see any problem doing so. I can speak for HCiSO only because that's what I had on my mac prior updating to 8.2.1

So you installed over the old release right? (I shouldn't uninstall the old one in theory)

Correct.

So when it comes to updating just simply install ☺️ as long as it is from the same source (example Hcis) thank you.

So, I've seen a few people go through some of their existing libraries or the Tools (Chords, Patterns, Phrases) not showing.

Based on what I've read so far, there are a few different things to try in these cases, and I thought I'd collate them all to hopefully help everyone and get an idea of what worked.

Please Note: These are different options not a step by step guide to follow.

1. Make sure Kontakt 8 has Full Disk Access in your settings.
System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Full Disk Access

2. Grant permissions to your NI Libraries using
sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Native\ Instruments

Note: Your Content Library location might be different if you've moved it.
So, it might pay to also check permissions/change for that location too!

3. Exit your DAW and standalone Kontakt, renaming the komplete.db3 file located in
/Users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8

and relaunch to see if things start appearing. If it works, delete the renamed komplete.db3 and keep the new one.

4.
Open standalone Kontakt 8
Click the Library button up the top
Click Tools
Click the little gear Icon near the bottom
Make sure you're in the Custom Libraries section
Click add and add each tool and see if they appear in the tools section

Note: you can hit CMD+Shift+G and copy-paste the paths below
/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8/Content/Tools/Chords/

/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8/Content/Tools/Phrases/

/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8/Content/Tools/Patterns/

5. There's also the installed_products folder with all the .json files that might be worth trying to refresh
/Users/Shared/Native Instruments/

zip it up as a backup and relaunch Kontakt 8. Hopefully, it'll update them and show up.

Update:
There's another post saying that if you moved libraries prior that you'll want to use the Add Library app to update the locations but see how you get on

6. Remove the plugin/app from quarantine & code signing:
Note: This is mainly if you're having issues running the app/plugins
sudo xattr -cr /path/to/Kontakt 8.vst3

sudo codesign -fs - /path/to/Kontakt 8.vst3

I've used the .vst3 as an example, but do this for the .component and .app too
Note: There's an app called Sentinel that makes this as easy as dragging and dropping rather than going into the terminal if that scares you.
Get Sentinel here: https://github.com/alienator88/Sentinel

Please let everyone know what worked for you to get a better understanding of what's causing this issue. 💖

thx to everyone who shared fixes on previous posts. I hope it's ok that I compiled them into a single post

Hi, when i try to add library it says no library foud, must have a .nicnt file? Do i start from the top and work my way down? so many different .dmg's I dont know where to start. New member here. I'm generally pretty savvy with this stuff normally but this install is WILD

This might seem like a silly question to some, but I like to cover all my bases to be safe

Have you downloaded any Kontakt libraries, and do you know where they are located?

I'm pretty sure the default on macOS is either
/Users/Shared/

or
/Users/Shared/Native Instruments/Content Library/

"Hi guys, I had installed this version of Kontakt, and today I had to change the external hard drive (where I had the libraries), but now Kontakt says 'Takt File not found. Please make sure that external drives are connected!' Please help me!!!" thank you

Is anyone else finding that navigating instruments presets within the libraries page is wonky? When I try to move up a folder level I can't. This behaviour is only on the plugin, not the standalone app. I'm using it in Logic v11.0.1 on Ventura v13.5 on an M1 Mac Studio, and viewing the libs page in classic mode.
