SKnote - sdc - JUSTiFY screenshot

Stereo double compressor. On each channel: an optical compressor followed by a VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) compressor (Discrete). The first one controls the average signal level with the typical electro-luminescent panel musical behavior. The discrete one controls peaks, adding snap or full control.

Three optical models, based on measurements on several ELP (electroluminescent panels) and LDR (light dependent resistors) couples.

Can anyone reliably speak on how this compares to the shadow hills compressor?? Is it close enough to the original or is it just a cheap clickbait plugin with the shadow hills skin?

Now I compared these plugins. Under the same settings they sound completely different. So it looks nice, but to compare the sound of their just not realistic.

Yes, I compared it with the shadow hills, they are very different, even in settings. The approximate similarity of the sound is difficult to define.

I bought it when it was released, never used it, only some tests.
Sounds really bad to my ears, i think every SKnote plug is like that and i have quite a few...
I know SKnote has some devoted followers though.
Truth is, i don't have any experience with the UAD or the original but it really doesn't sound to me as an emulation of an $8k compressor.

i don't have tested this because i've the UAD version but the curiosity pushed me to compare it with some videos demos ...
i've never tested the piece of gear but some serious producers as MJ (TUTO) according that the UAD shadow hills is near of the hardware (about 80%)

i don't want to blame this plug cause maybe it's a good plug ,
but it seems normal that a 29$ plug not sounding like the UAD version or the piece of gear ..

The plugin is unfinished at best, buggy as hell at worst. Quite a lot of the settings don't seem to work (=do nothing).

The Opto compressor has no saturation whatsoever. The tranny settings do nothing (absolutely nothing, I measured them). The discrete compressor seems to be to be OK-ish (but doesn't beat the Wves or Ctomic offerings of SSL Bus compressors which the Shadow Hills is a copy of). Also when you switch metering to Discrete only one the meters (the right one) works.

Tested in PT10.3.10 via BC patchwork.
