u-he has released Podolski, a freeware virtual analogue synthesizer (previously distributed as magware).

Podolski has been refurbished with some new presets by Howard Scarr, has undergone a GUI makeover (two new skins) and supports a wider range of plug-in formats. A new English language manual is also included.

Podolski is available for free download via u-he (10.4MB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & Mac).

The synth was originally released in 2005 as a gift for visitors of Musikmesse. After that, it was distributed on the cover CD of the Keyboards Magazine until 2009.

The new version of Podolski is available as freeware and features a refurbished GUI as well as a set of completely new presets by Howard Scarr (let’s just say that he programmed the synths for The Dark Knight Rises movie soundtrack!)

Even if MR. Urs Heckmann may be an arrogant subject for many folks - it's generous from him giving this free - not like Native Instruments or Tone2, giving just some crumbs + crap away! wink phones

Arrogant subject? I can't see any problem with Mr Heckmann, he's releasing generous demos & good freeware too, has a responsive support, is kind on the forums, and makes the best synths overall...

Yes, I'm a big proponent of Bazille, it's truly a mind-boggling piece of software. But it won't remain a free beta forever...
Also, Podolski is interesting, it has a kind of cool "Synth1" vibe.
