Tinnitus and the Tinnitus Tamer

It has long been known that Tinnitus is not caused by sound signals originating in the ear. Recent innovations in medical imaging techniques have made it possible to show that Tinnitus sounds are generated by activity in the auditory neural system in the brain. However, the exact nature and cause of this activity has not yet been determined.

The striking similarities between the Tinnitus sounds and the sound produced by positive feedback in electronic circuits processing audio signals suggest that Tinnitus sounds are caused by positive feedback between neurons in the auditory neural system in the brain by inappropriate axon connections.

We know that learning takes place by weakening or strengthening axon connections in the brain, and that axon connections that are not used will eventually wither away.

The Tinnitus Tamer uses sequences of special tones and silent periods to retrain the neural networks in the auditory system of the brain to weaken, and ultimately eliminate, the positive feedback loop that creates the Tinnitus sound.

Thus, the Tinnitus Tamer uses the resources of your own body to take care of the Tinnitus in a natural way.

Initially, you may note that your Tinnitus is less bothersome while you train with the Tinnitus Tamer. After training for a few weeks, you will be no longer aware of your Tinnitus between sessions. You will have to concentrate on your Tinnitus to hear it, and even then, it will no longer be annoying.

Many Tinnitus sufferers will find that the Tinnitus Tamer completely eliminates the Tinnitus.

Habituation and the Tinnitus Tamer
Habituation is another explanation how the Tinnitus Tamer, and similar auditory training methods, reduce our perception of Tinnitus.

Our sensory systems are very adaptable. We can get used to sensations on the skin, such as the touch of a spider, that at first, bother us. We can get used to all kinds of smells that on first exposure seem intolerable. We can get used to taste sensations that initially are quite unpalatable.

Getting familiar with a sensation so that it no longer feels unpleasant or painful is called habituation. Habituation has changed what goes on in our brain. This was accomplished without the use of drugs, using only the resources of your own body.

The Tinnitus Tamer will help you to habituate your Tinnitus.

Yep, I can! wink As i'm suffering from TiNNiTUS since years, i've noticed that this can help - used with headphones. You just have to find which frequencies cover your Tinnitus.

Thanks for answering Kookaboo,

How do i know what frequency i need to set on the app? What if i can cover the tinnitus with more then one frequency?, because if i listen some music etc., i don't notice the tinnitus.
I'm also suffering from tinnitus since 14 years. My Tinnitus is a very high frequency, most of days it's not disturbing, but there are days that i really need to go to bed and sleep, to turn out the tinnitus.

any help is welcome, I never used a app like this, and i don't want to use the App and make my tinnitus go worse then it is now.

by the way: a lot of musicians are suffering from tinnitus, don't know why dunno

Thanks, and thanks for sharing! wink

Me too. I started using this version back in February 2010 with closed type cans - and it does help. As Kook said, you just have to find the particular frequencies that trigger your Tinnitus.

Some people seem to think it's a hearing problem, but Tinnitus sounds are generated by activity in the auditory neural system in the brain.

Hi guys,

I don't think I have your problems, I believe that there is a difference on hearing left and right as I had to adjust the input gain of one of my speaker to compensate.
I thinks that Tinnitus is the english for Akufen in French.
One of my friend has had this since a festival. For him it is this high frequ sounds buzzing in his both ears all the time. So far there is no medication at all for this.
Forget the surgery also.

Something my ears have like is one month holiday.
2 weeks in south Morocco with a 3 day trip in the desert.
I have experienced there what silence is. This was totally dead.
Forget the in ears sound cancellation when you sleep at night to stop the traffic noise to disturb your sleep. that's not total silence.
It was just amazing feeling. it worth the trip at all.

If you want to tour the south Morocco and get in there let me know and I will provide you the name of the only top guide who will bring you there. He has become a friend and I will go there again in October.

On top of that as I was on holiday for 1 month, I have not used any headphones at all or stressed my ears in a club. Give your ears some rest. It does something.

Once back in London. I was shocked of the sounds of my room studio.

I begun to acoustically treat that room, but most importantly your ears feel better.

Now I am careful using headphone and I would use my monitors more often at a normal volume.
You can mix like that

Those Tinnitus freak me out, so I am trying now to be careful.

Give your ears some rest and nice silent period of time. They will like it

dance

Good luck
